I am thinkin of buying a kia rio, i want to know if the car is a good car to maintain.

Kia is not bad but Toyota is better sir. I have used kia sephia II and its the same engine with kia Rio and I am currently driving a Toyota brand. The difference is very very clear just like 7up. If possible, please go for Toyota.

That was in the past. The new generation kia optima is there among others in its class. Better than then current generation Toyota Camry.

well I wouldn't doubt it though becoz toyata started this exact same way,going from fake cars in the 70's to much more reliable cars in the latter stage,I'm pretty sure that Korea will get there too

That is the way business works. U don't just start from the top especially when there are top dogs, u will crash. U need to start from the bottom and win the low end market, then gradually climb ur way to the top. Samsung didn't become the world's biggest phone maker overnight in the past they were known for making cheap phones, but look where they are now.

yea,that's a very positive point you just listed there and I'm pretty optimistic that the chineses too in years coming will become the giants too,talking from their growth rate which leaves me to ask something. The US are obviously the giants in almost all aspects ,where do they now go from the top

Kia Rio is very good budget car. It has good fuel economy, a decent suspension system and the body is quite rugged. U didn't state the year of the car u have in mind. But I have a friends who uses the 2002 and the 2010 models respectively and both cars are running fine no issues. The only thing is u have to always be diligent when it comes to maintenance.

The latest model uses the Kia Gama engine which is one of the best auto engines out there in terms of reliability performance and fuel efficiency. It is what pushing my Hyundai elantra and I get about 33Mpg (mixed driving) and as high as 39mpg highway..

The cons for the car are: small engine means u don't get much power. The engine is usually 1.4 to 1.6 .. U won't be winning any road race any time.

Also toks part especially the engine can be very expensive although the original new parts are plentiful. Rio is a very good car u will enjoy it if you get one

I entered flood that covered the entire engine of my 2012 kia picanto along Benin-okene road and it got to a state I started praying unto God within me to to the glory of Jesus christ nothing happen to my small kia picanto, the plate number pulley away inside this long range flood. My friend also bought a fairly used kia rio and has been enjoying it for almost 3years now. Many nigerians don't know that Kia/Hyundai engines can be repaired once u put original rings iside the engine. Then if u want to buy KIA/HYUNDAI spare parts just buy tokunbo parts because they are cheaper. Although we are used to Toyota in Nigeria because of easy to maintain and availability of spare parts

Kia is improving all around....but so is Toyota and other brands. No Kia is overall better than any Toyota in it's class. You may have some impressive stats on paper but on the road is a different story....e.g...fuel economy may be the same....but the Kia would lack the power as the Toyota.

the optima beats it hands down any day any time, toyota are not trying with there designs at all.

Like I said.... it looks impressive on paper....in practice it's different. And yes....Kia has pretty cars... lots of bells and whistles.... but when it comes to what matters most in a car kis a different story. If OP wants a pretty car then I'll suggest he go for the Kia.

Kia Rio is a good car (2nd and 3rd Gen)

I own a 2013 Kia Rio. Been using it for over a year now and i drive it every day (Mon - Sun) except i am out of town.

Great MPG. It's not built for racing. Has a 1.4L engine but its a very practical car. Smooth acceleration

Ground clearance isn't fantastic so you have to be careful with terrible roads. It has great suspensions

I travelled with with it to Edo state and we were 4 in the car with a loaded boot, but i had no issues and coming back we were 5 people in the car. When i got to Ore i topped up with 1,600 on the return leg i topped up with 1,300 before leaving Edo. Stopped at Ore and topped up with 1,500. I always top up when the guage approaches half tank.

Easy to maintain. I take it to Kia every 3-4 months and servicing costs an average of 15k which includes diagnostics, Engine and car wash apart from the oil and filter change.

Its a lovely car. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.
