For which category of vehicle?if its a car or jeep its acceptable but for trucks and lorries you'll need a bigger one

It goes to show that there are still many honest Nigerians...even in a well maligned service like the V.I.O.

I have a question, if one buys a car from an individual who did not change nor renew the car documents from the name of the first owner who bought it toks and the document has now expired.

what is the procedure to change the documentation to my name. Since the owner/ seller's(second owner) did not change the documentation to his name.

do i need to involve the first owner in the documentation (note that i have called his number on the document and he confirmed that the second owner is not owing him any dime).

yes, you would need to involve the first owner since the second owner before you did not change the name on the documents to his.

1.But does the same rule of only paying for the current date of renewal apply to vehicle license too or you also pay for missed years.

2. With the current arrangement, is it still possible to renew the original driving licence without being physically present or can one do it by proxy like in the past?

3. If it takes about four days to get a driving licence, how come my friends that applied over three months ago still use the temporary paper.

4. Are VIOs empowered by law to check vehicle paper and license or put differently, which among the agencies can ask for these stuff. Thanks

If you cannot get your informations online after providing all neccessary informations, then the license with you might not be geniune,pls visit the nearest office as said for a new license

Please do you people look out for specific things when stopping a vehicle or vehicles are stopped at random.

And are there hints/tricks to avoid being stopped by either vio or road safety

Though I did the license in proxy (absent), but it has all the necessary security attached to it and have used it severally in the past before it expired.

Well, I was thinking the new website or database might not capture the old license (2008), not withstanding, I will go to the office and see things for myself.

Seeing the coat of arm/ FRSC logo on a drivers licence is not enough reason to conclude its authenticity, a rule of thumb that will guide you is to make sure you have passed through the required test and not getting it by proxy.

To avoid being stopped,make sure that you put your vehicle in good condition,renew your documents as at when due and make sure you drive with a genuine drivers licence.
And lastly, be friendly and smile a lot( a simple "officer how is work" can save you from stress even if you have any of your papers expired)

Take the new customs papers to the person that registered the vehicle for you and explain things to him,though not easy,it can be rectified.
