Bro take it easy on these guys they might be new and all what they might need is just a guide. Don't let them feel discouraged asking about what they don't know. My own take tho and no offense. thesoj: 4 Likes |

I think cic don't really need much documents. Documents uploaded are. Acceptance letter from university of Prince Edward island January intake. Account Sponsor letter High school result International passport data page Passport photograph. Loe Study form Schedule one Family form That's all. Five years visa, for undergraduate student. So people should not be worried about not submitting huge documents. Application was treated in london. No magic. But Gods grace. Just for my nephew,he did it himself,i only guided him through skype. 5 Likes |

Seems y'all arent too friendly here. I posted something but got no reply . Its cool. anyways I'm applying to canada and been going through the threads starting from part 6 down to 9. I am applying to schools in ca & US. I'm applying to McGill & Uottawa, and I emailed the program coordinators directly and got the necessary info from them because I noticed some stuff said here is different from reality as regards to grades and all. @ kessluvall you talked about applying for law with a 2:2 You can apply to Uottawa, I emailed a program coordinator and she sent me a link which confirms they accept 2:2. and you are in greater luck if your last 2 years in Uni, you scored high as they also check that. http://www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=3798&moncontrol=DisplayEqui&country=Nigeria#display And also McGill depending on the dept, they consider applications slightly below 3.0 if the applicant has strong application(letter of ref9especially), SOP etc) because the lie being sold to most applicants who scored 2;2 is to write PGD and then use it as a route to masters. that is a BIG LIE. Yes most canadian schools do not take 2:2 but it takes perseverance and a well detailed research to search for a school, look for the program coordinators and send them a detail mail. they will surely get a reply. i know 2 folks who finished with a 2:2, they went to canada to do PGD and then after they applied for msc. all of them rejected them. they more or less wasted 3m on Pgd that is not even worth more than a professional course certificate. so in summary, if you have a low grade (3.49-2.90/5.0 CGPA) and you want to apply to canada. have 2 things in mind- check the school requirements and go extra by emailing the program coordinators, and also depends on the course, if u are applying for a course like comp sci or pharmacology or nursing with a 2:2 u don jabbo. but if its a course like social work, art etc that doesnt draw so much applications, then give it a go and present a strong application. P;s: if you are in McGill we can relate or applying for occupational heallth pls klets chat 1 Like |

@Mekurexx We dey friendly nao. Maybe no one knew the answer to your question that's why it wasn't answered. Also, a lot of the recent gurus on this thread have gone silent because many got their visas and just started school... the ones who didn't get their visas are quietly restrategizing and refiring. Also, thanks for the info you provided about 2:2 admission to MSc. I really like your spirit... it's great to see that you emailed program coordinators to get to the bottom of the issue... very proactive... I like! PS: I believe @montrealer is at McGill 4 Likes |

Mekurexx:Oga calm down jare. You just pointed out the song I was singing some pages back that people should please mail the graduate advisors of their intended departments to hear from the horse's mouth and not listen to someone online dictate their fate. @thesoj, @ayooluwatoni, @omooba have been of great help here. It's always easy to just come here and be of great help at a point in time. But if one wants to be consistent, especially when it's not like you are trying to get something in return, the person should be commended. Nobody has been unfriendly in my opinion, people should also learn to research for information. A little research doesn't hurt. |

Nice one guys, but u guys should also note something, All these school usually collect $100 as application fee, so they will never want to stop you from applying, just be sure of your research and let's pray to God to help us all. I spoke from a friend experience. Mean not to disrespect anybody or any info, but just want us to filter enough to gain the admission. sholay2011: |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by Mekurexx: 9:21pm On Sep 29, 2015 |
thanks for the tip. regardless class of degree what kills most people's apps is lack of knowledge or poor research. its better to look beyond what is shown on the website and dig deep. I believe having some form of ''rapport'' during applying kinda shows one persistence which i think is positive.just like when one is tryna get a research supervisor for a research assistanship, one has to be persistent. thanks for the kind words too thesoj: 1 Like |

Supermum: Hello supermum, am new to thia forum, I have been a silent observer, I have read all the rrends and info about traveling to Canada. I recently got a mail from CIC to come for my medicals and I have done that, which I passed...they sent me a mail after 2 days to tell me I passed . Please I would like to know how long it takes for them to request for passport after the medicals have been passed. Thanks in advance for your time |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by montrealer: 11:11pm On Sep 29, 2015 |
I think you just highlighted some of things that some other NLers have tried to point out in the past. Getting an admission doesn't depend only on your grades, it's the whole package: your grades, your experience, your knowledge of the field of study, your ability to research & to develop a favorable rapport with the academic advisor. I'm glad you got the information you needed. As for those who promote PGD, don't blame them. They speak from their experience. Some applied to several Masters programs and were denied thus their reason for counseling others not to try. As for your friends who were denied masters admission following PGD, I'm sure there are other variables that contributed to that. As @thesoj mentioned, I'm at McGill and open to help. All the best with your admission & TRV process Mekurexx: 2 Likes |

benefe: I'm not sure what that means to a PhD but it is relevant to a master's ( came across it in the Master's degree guideline). You might want to send an email to your intended school to clarify. What I am aware of is Candidacy Examination for PhD students. |
