Thanks so much. What is my overall CLB?

Overall CLB isn't important, it's the individual CLB points that matters.

Hello everyone, I have some issues from the cic website. Even though my job specification falls under one of those listed and I have met all other criteria like work hours and education, I got an eligibility test result of being ineligible. They, however told me I could still go ahead to apply. What are my chances in this case? More so, how can you make the minimum 67 without a relative or job offer in canada, since these two are listed among the areas of scoring?
Someone, kindly help with this.
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by bigfido: 10:59pm On Sep 27, 2015
have you done IELTS? may be you ticked no... this makes you ineligible automatically

The above link is self explanatory (I believe). There you'll see how you can achieve the min 67 points. I guess you're ineligible cos your point is below the hurdle rate. Hope you've done ur ielts? If not strive for a minimum of L8, and 7 in SWR.

PS: I feel people asking for help should provide some basic info like age, language scores, qualifications & years of experience etc that way the experts can quickly dissect and analyze ur info and profer a thorough recommendation or suggestions as the case may be (afterall u remain anonymous)

Please can guru in the house shed more light on the POF as it relates to pension(RSA) account? specifically the 25% available to the account holder after 4 months of resignation?

Don't bother about 25%(i honestly think this is solely about how the scheme is operated and not what CIC bothers about cuz, even if we look at it from the angle of CIC specifying pof to be an unencumbered funds, truth is you can't even access the 25% until after 6months of officially being off work which i suppose will be after you are already in Canada), just use it in conjunction with other source but play safe by not making it your major pof. I'm yet to see anyone who used it say that CIC did not accept it and for me, that speaks!

However, its my opinion

As a Pharmacist, you don't go through WES but via The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC). Please see link below for further details.

Dear all,

i believe WES sends soft copy of assessment by email in addition to hard copy? i am applying and i see they send a pdf copy of the result online.

then it should be cheaper to use canada post instead of courier to receive the paper report. has anyone used this means? i know it may take longer to arrive.

Do i need to have the hard copy at point of creating my EE profile?

the WES profile advices courier though..

TRying the cut costs.

The copy you see online is different from that you receive via post because the one online is the abbreviated report. Therefore you can only use the copy posted to you to apply (you need to scan the original). When you receive the report, there would be a cover page and the assessment page, scan both to be on the safe side.

Get a letter from hubby stating the money is a gift to you, that will solve it. Read an Indian's account who his pof was rejected initially but later had to get a notarized letter from his father that the money is a gift from him and I think it sailed through. Abi, who will say your hubby is can't give you money? wink

'Master degree or professional degree needed to practise in a licensed profession ( for professional degree, the degree must have been in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, law etc.,'

That's from cic page.

DEAR GREAT NAIRALANDERS,

I have a bachelor of laws degree. I also have a certificate from nig law school. My question is this:do I NEED to assess both law degree and law school transcript to fall into above category.

If the answer is yes, please which body handles transcript from law school. I am using WES for law degree assessment.

If the answer is no, is it wise to still assess both since I have them anyway.

LASTLY KINDLY NOTE I HAVE NOT BEEN PRACTICING LAW HERE AND DONT INTEND TO USE LAWYER NOC IN EE PROFILE CREATION.

Appreciate your kind replies in advance. Thank you all.

Bosypumpin how far? How is this journey going at your end? Regards

This is what the CIC website states in relation to assessing law degrees:

For Express Entry, we only accept professional degrees in these fields:

medicine,
veterinary medicine,
dentistry,
podiatry,
optometry,
law,
chiropractic medicine, or
pharmacy.

ECA assessment results for Law:

Bachelor of Laws
Juris Doctor
First professional university degree in law
First professional university degree in law, preceded by [x years] prerequisite undergraduate study

Now in order to fall into the category 'Master degree or professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession' you have to have either a Master's degree or the professional degree. Firstly, you don't have a Master's degree. Secondly, Canada requires any foreigner working in a regulated field to take their exams before they can practice their profession in Canada, therefore you can't use your law school certificate to practice in Canada as you'll have to write a Canadian Bar exam. A Juris Doctor degree is earned by completing law school in order to practice law either in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other common law countries of which Nigeria is a part of but like I said, you can't practice law in Canada, only in Nigeria. As a result, your degree and certificate will most likely be evaluated as a Bachelor of Laws.

But then my people, can i send my law school transcript for evaluation? I got a certificate from the nigerian law school. Can i fall under the 'Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years' category?

i really need the extra points.

Hi Zandora,

Bachelor of Laws seems to be part of jobs classified as professional degree by CIC. Does this not mean one can choose the category "Master degree or professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession" if you get an ECA assessed as "Bachelor of Laws"?

No, it won't fall under Master's degree because it isn't equivalent to a Canadian Master's degree and it won't fall under professional degree because you can't use that Nigerian law degree to practice law in Canada. Remember, it is the assessment that is supposed to give you either Master's degree or professional degree needed to........ If however the degree was obtained in Canada and the person has done the call to bar then it would fall under professional degree needed to practice in a licence profession because you can practice law with that certification in Canada. I don't know if you get me.

I think I understand now. The main issue is that WES will not assess foreign law degree as "Bachelor of Laws". I tried WES Free Degree Equivalency Tool and it gave me an assessment of "Bachelor's Degree (4 years) as the Canadian Equivalent of Law degree from OAU.

@Zizicomputer, you can use the link below to assess your law degree
https://www.wes.org/ca/preliminary/poe.asp.

In addition, I am not sure you will fall under "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees". You can however send both certificates as you don't have anything to lose by sending them.

I submitted my application a moment ago. My application has been received; but I'm yet to receive a unique ID for Job Bank Registration.
Is this normal?

You won't receive it immediately. It normally takes about 2-3 hours.

Bank statement costs 100naira i think, so, i will advice he adds it, showing the transaction where he transferred the money to you and the letter can then be written using his company letterhead. If the company has a seal, he can put it on the letter as well.

And what is the likely cost?
