Nigerian senators Today, being Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on the senate president, Bukola Saraki, seeking to shore up support for the embattled leader who is facing corruption charges. Mr. Saraki was arraigned last week before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on a 13-count charge of alleged corruption and false declaration of assets which he denied wrongdoing and said the trial was politically motivated.

The senate met Today for the first time since Mr. Saraki appeared before the tribunal, and 83 senators co-sponsored a motion to give him a “vote of confidence”.

[b]I know for some people, this is a bad omen and for some, this is a very good thing because all the saga going on with Saraki have been termed as a witch hunt by the president and many are eager to prove that. I cannot say that Bukola Saraki is innocent of the crimes which he is been tried for but what i can say is that he is not the person whom the APC wanted to be the senate president and therefore they will do anything within their powers to make sure he is thrown out of that seat.

I also want to add that whatsoever I say here, i stand corrected because this is my own view in the whole saga. I do not personally think that Gen. Buhari will change from his attitude and that is why I am inclined to believe that he has a hand in what is happening to Saraki. If you are a Nigerian and you try to deny this fact, please answer this:

1. How many times did Buhari meet with the senate president officially?
2. Why was he not been tried since 2005 or 2007 that he left as governor?
3. I taught Buhari said he is not going beyond GEJ time, what happened?

I am not disproving the fact that he (Saraki) might be guilty of the offense but common, how many offenses would Obasanjo and Tinubu be guilty of? Even Fashola? And you said is not a witch hunt? I bet you, if Saraki did not emerge as the President of the senate, this case would not have seen the light of the day. [/b]

Funny post . This shall forever remain in infamy . The question is whether , Saraki committed anticipatory Looting or not? The issue of witch -hunt is immaterial to the case...it is diversionary at best !

This is a clear case of witch-hunt but a very welcome one. I am also positive that the president is complicit on the matter.

You see, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. I can assure that if exlink10 becomes a threat to her friend, then her hands better be clean else the friend will expose and vilify her.

If politicians and Public officials know that they will be witch-hunted by their opponents, just maybe they will begin to conduct their affairs with higher probity.

Really? well the matter is subjudice, therefore, we should allow the Tribunal to either pronounce him guilty or acquit him, until that happens (upto the Supreme Court ) he is still innocent and shall continue to preside over the Senate as the Senate President. You can agree with me that the journey is stil far.

No not at all my brother. Sincerely I don't hate him, to be candid I actually feel for him. maybe my objective part of me is overriding the other part. I'm being true to him. I will give my brother the same advise. No bad feelings
