Guys, when applying for GA spot is it advisable to apply to different departments at the same time? Just thinking if one could spread one's risk. I do not want to ask my advisor so I do not give him a bad impression. cc: bbdd, bigfrancis21, biikeys, imperiouxx, slimmy05. |

djmakson: It depends on if your program is giving you or not and the number of hours. If your program is giving you a GA that's 20hrs/week then you can't do another. If you get a GA that's just 10 hrs /week then you can find another. Keep the number of hours in mind so you don't "officially" violate the rule because your school is watching since the GA will be on campus. |

djmakson: I might be reading this a bit differently but... No, not really. Think about it this way - you are applying to a subject matter (ie. department) for your graduate studies because you have an interest in that subject. If you apply to ten different subjects, is that really the best way to convince them that you have an interest there? I think a better plan would be to apply to the same department (ie. sociology, or political science, or communications) at multiple universities. That way you are spreading the risk but still getting a GA in the subject that you are interested... 1 Like |

LagosNIV:You're on point. But some majors are quite competitive while others are not. What about in the course of interview for instance, someone who applied two majors and noticed that he's about to lose out in the main major he applied for, can't he or she ask the Admission Officer to consider him for second choice sort of? |

Please gurus I sent a copy of my birth certificate/passport through FAX as WES requested before they would correct an error on my date of birth. This is over three weeks now and over 14 working days, the status on my dash board still showing UNDER REVIEW. What might cause this delay? |
