Nigerians are hypocrites and most people are too lazy to engage in in-dept reasoning before making their opinion known to the public. Most Nigerians are mentally lazy to make personal research on a particular subject or topic of discussion before voicing their opinion on such matter. The rush to gain popularity on social platforms through LIKES and RE-TWEET has made so many Nigerians argue non-constructively and childishly.
The issue of HRH Sanusi lamido taking up a new wife has generated a lot of controversy among Nigerians especially on social medias, some in support while most are against his decision but before we castigate him lets take a look at some salient point to consider before making judgement on whether he is wrong or right.

Who is a child?
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines child as "a human being below the age of 18 years. this also is applicable to Nigeria.
Who is an adult?
The age at which people are considered responsible for their society-bound actions (e. g. marriage, voting, etc.) and this is reflected in the way they are treated in courts of law, family and the society at large. At the age of 18 in Nigeria you are considered as an adult and you have the right to vote and be voted for. At this age you are considered and will be treated as an adult in your family, school, community and even at the court of law. The legal age of marriage in Nigeria is 18 yrs and above as long as those involved consent to such arrangement. At the age of 18 most of us starts feeling the sense of responsibility, maturity and the urge to make certain decisions with very little or no interference. movies, music, TV programmes of adult content are generally TAGGED or RESERVED for 18yrs and above. Alcohol and tobacco consumption is reserved for 18yrs and above. So if we consider this age for the above things i mentioned, why are we making unnecessary noise about the emirs decision to take an 18yrs as a wife.

Finally our lovely celebrities that we celebrate on social media and so many people look up to as role models are not left out of this early marriage while others engaged in child marriage (less than 18yrs of age). Their topics grace NL and other social platforms frontage/headlines everyday. While some endured others opted out. i will list a few of them.

1 SHAN GEORGE (Child marriage)

Shan George got married at tender age of 16 and had her two boys who are now men, immediately after marriage. Shan later walked out of the marriage.

"Being married at the age of 16 was just like a child still living with her parents. It was more like an obligation. I don’t really want to talk about it because of my children." She said.

Meanwhile, the talented actress welcomed her first grandchild on September 7, 2014 as her first son, Delnoi had a beautiful baby girl.

2 OMOTOLA JALADE EKEINDE (Early marriage and shes happily married)

Star actress Omotola met her pilot husband at age 16, and got married to him at age 18 and had her first child, her daughter at age 19.
Her kids are growing up so fast.

3 IRETI DOYLE

Actress Ireti Doyle had her first child when she was in her late teens. Her daughter is all grown up now and recently got married. They look more like sisters.

4 CLARION CHUKWURA

Talented and daring actress, Clarion was impregnated by Sir Shina Peters many years ago when they were dating. She got pregnant at age 18 and had her baby boy who has grown to be a music director, in the person of Clarence Peters.
The AMAA best actress looks more like Clarence's elder sister.

5 ADA AMEH

The plus size role interpreter had her daughter at a very tender age of 14.

"Sometimes, I ponder on that. I had a child when I was 14. My peers influenced me. But it has been some time now."

6 OBOT ETUK (Child Marriage)

The Akwa Ibom born beautiful actress cum costumier got married at the tender age of 15 and started making babies immediately. She had 3 kids before her divorce.

"We got married in 1985 and divorced in 2002. The marriage did not last long. We were young when we got married. I was 15 then and he was 18."

7 GENEVIEVE NNAJI

The super star actress became a mum at age 17. People have been circulating fake pictures of her daughter online. But the actress keeps her precious daughter away from the prying eyes of the media and gossips.

8 LIZ BENSON

Super star actress, Liz Benson got married to her first husband, Samuel Gabriel Etim at a very young age. The marriage had already produced 2 girls and 1 boy before beautiful Liz lost her husband to death in her mid twenties.

Parting shot:
We are all aware that the rate at which we have single mothers or early marriage crashing is at an alarming rate. some of you who got married at the age of 23 yrs and above are out of marriage and find it difficult to manage your home, and you are here shamelessly castigating someone else who has successfully managed his home. If you are a single mother as a result of your inability to keep and hold on to your marriage or you are a shameless husband who could not manage his home or protect his marriage from crashing and you are here busy crying on HRH Sanusi Lamido decision to marry an 18yrs old then you are an hypocrite. Save your marriage...save your home...Let Sanusi breath, he owes no one any explanation.

Only in Nigeria will you see a serial fornicator castigating an adulterer.. A chain smoker condemning an alcoholic.. armed robber lynching a petty thief.. common man who stole N20 sentenced to years imprisonment while a corrupt political is walking freely and enjoying our looted funds.

My opinion.

If not forceful, I SUPPORT early marriage.
At 18, many youths feel like adults and tried justifying what they do and this leads many of them to premarital sex. Many have lost it due to complications of sex and very few are lucky to refocus. Any female who never sex to a man she's not married to (if not raped) is free to accuse SLS, but if not, keep shut. Giving (marriage) is better than sharing!
Royal families will always link will royals irrespective of age differences.

This article make sense... Don't mind the hypocrite. I can bet the bride in question is not complaining. And besides, they are not living as man And wife yet.

the question should be did they all get married/have babies for a man old enough to be their grandpa?
18 yrs and a 55yrs old man... shocked shocked shocked
at Sanusi's 36th birthday, the brides mum hasn't conceived the bride. tufia

no amount of defensive rant is enough to cover up this rubbish.

The fact that some celebrities got married at a tender age does not justify Sanusi.

I am 31 yrs old and i got married to 26 yrs lady this year. Even at my present age (31), I can't imagine my self standing unclad in front of a teeneger , NEVER!

what makes sanusi different. and where in your holy book was it stated that a 50yrs old cannoct marry an 18yrs old. American rapper THE GAME is 36 and currently dating an 18yrs old girl. the question is legally...morally..culturally and religious wise...is it right? if yes so be it.
