My sister what is actually the challenge with what the parents said or how an African mother raises her Daughters? i see nothing wrong cos the male children also get statements like. "is this how u will handle ur home" "is this how u will take care of ur wife" in Africa parents groom their children to be better parents than they are. The challenge with africa is that we are africans and we always want to copy everything we see no matter its low workability in our terrain. A report shows we have greater lasting marriages in Africa and Asia more than America n Europe...it also explains that we have more happy homes in Africa and America. the reason is simply because of the teachings frm parents. Every woman whether we like to or yes needs to learn home management its on this that her ability to chase and follow her dreams can wrk. Except if she doesnt want to get married. In Africa a man is better respected if he is married so is a woman...it means he or she can handle responsibility. This is also a criteria for being elected into power in the U.S. so lets carve out our own way of making women matter in the society while maintaining a strong family ties else...if we jus swallow women empowerment the way the west present it to us we will have countless nos of divorces, countless nos to trumatised children, countless nos of school shootings, countless nos of baby mamas countless nos of abortions the cons are numerous. 1 Like |

[quote author=Tallesty1 post=38593662]A Lady after reading this: Lady: Oh, I love this. Thanks MizMyColi, I just wish our ladies will learn. Then she receives a message from boo. Boo: Are you free? Let's hang out. Lady: Oh! I love this. Thanks boo. So she goes out with boo, straffs him all night and everything she read wipes out automatically. And everything still remains thesame. BTW, the op failed to realize that marriage increases a man's or a woman's worth too. I don't care who you are or what you have achieved, if you are single then you are incomplete. quote] I so disagree with your "if you are single then you are incomplete" bro, you still live in the 19th century. Marriage does not complete you. You can be single and complete. Jesus was never married, did that cut short his destiny? NO. The Scripture says 'You are complete in Him' Now, just so you know, I am not against marriage. It's a beautiful institution created be God for mankind. I desire to be married someday and have a lovely marriage. People who say you are incomplete without marriage are those that weaken the 'defense' of most ladies. They feel no matter what they do or achieve or how far they've come in their career, or what have you, they are not complete until theres a husband, hence, husbandhunt starts. Many fall into wrong marriages just so they can feel that 'completeness'. To every lady out there, YOU ARE COMPLETE EVEN AS A SINGLE. WHEN YOU ARE MARRIED, YOU JOIN YOUR COMPLETENESS TO A COMPLETE GUY AND YOU'LL MAKE A BEAUTIFUL MARRIAGE. 3 Likes |

Tallesty1:If your claim that "if you are single then you are incomplete" is anything to go by, isn't it safe then to say Jesus, Paul, John the baptist were very much incomplete since they never knew the innards of a woman despite being the purported silver-tails of the spirit? Doesn't that make flimflam of christianity in that their 'lord and personal savior' was, in fact, an incomplete bloke who never got married? 4 Likes |

The fees were 500k per year for I and my sister and my father only paid 40k for my little brother. If your mum didn't contribute, don't assume everyone else grew up in the same conditions. 1 Like |

MizMyColi:That particular part of the narrative exposes the writer's naivety. Mothers understood the challenges of marriage in africa, whereby a wife is expected to fulfill domestic duties not only to the 'loving and understanding' husband, but also to his family. That phrase does not in anyway mean that the girl lives only to please the husband. 1 Like |

safarigirl: @seeing women as liabilities, women are the ones perpetuating this outlook! Y'all think in trying to get revenge on men for their lying, morally bankrupt ways is to dig into their pockets! That is the biggest mistake y'all made as the man is just going to make more money but see you as a liability (and if you're the type that is financially well-off, he sees you as a competitor, thus a problem! that is how he's wired to think and feel). As is common with human nature, the man is not going to see her materialistic nature as a silent plea for "please change your attitude"...he refuses to think he's done anything wrong and just attributes her materialistic tendencies to just plain gold digging. Hence I said, two wrongs cannot make a right. Woman, understand this, just live your life in the most conscientious way, do your best to be a good person, (a loving wife if you're married) or a darling friend/lover to the chosen one and forget all these men and women argument. Like I said, it'll never be concluded this side of paradise. I've given up on it a long time ago, and I am the better for it. You'd do well to adhere suit. Men started the problem, but women, in a bid to correct it, are utilising a tactic that won't work. Just the plain bare-assed truth here. 4 Likes |

nothing actually stops a woman from not seeing marriage as her all-in-all. there is nothing to fight for. it is no crime nor offense. but here's the caveat, humans are social animals. we are communal by nature. the lady who has an independent mind would still crave respect from society and would then find that society does not give her the respect she craves due to her being single. this then affects her psyche and she might jettison that independent mind she had. i know ladies who sang the not going to be married tune till they turned 33 only to now start getting desperate. it is not just a "women" thing. there are lots of men who would prefer not to be married but society terms an 40-year old unmarried man to be irresponsible or having a problem of some sorts. these are problems of stereotype. 1 Like |

bukatyne: @all, personalizing issues and a deliberate refusal to look at the other person's life, is the begining of the feeling that the world's entire weight is on your shoulder, hence the butt-hurt feeling which pushes us into unreasonable, bias and non objective activism. @op, everyone in Africa (i don't know how it is in other parts on the world) is brought up with marriage as the ultimate aim. I have heard guys being told "with this lazy behaviour of yours, how are you going to fend for your family?" i know guys who have been told "with your keepin to yourself, how are going to be able to relate with your wife?" "this talk wey you dey always talk to yourself, your wife go run commot from house leave you one day" "with the school wey you no want take seriously like so, for ladies, theirs is even better, but for you, who is going to marry you". With that, a boy is told that the reason he must go to school is to make sure he is elligible for marriage. And that is true! His chances of making it in life is greatly reduced if he is uneducated. And not even the feminists, who claim it is ok for the woman to be bread winner, will be attracted to him at that point. Stop feeling its only you that gets corrected in hope you don't carry undesirable behaviours into marriage. Men are being told the same thing too. If you've not noticed that, then its because you've been so fixated on your ideology. No wonder you feel the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you think the man is a legitimate object to hate. 2 Likes 1 Share |

1trillionlikes: SO 1trillionlikes 'You are more than husband, develop yourself more at work' translates to 1trillionlikes, don't marry? Don't we have married successful women e.g. Omotola, Dora, Ngozi Okonjo, Hilary Clinton, Liberia's President, Margret Thatcher etc. etc. Where did the OP go against marriage or tell women NOT to marry? 1 Like |

Tamee: That statement is falacious, blackmailing and should be outrightly dismiss. Not every woman need a man to make progression and be complete in their respective career and obtain inner happiness. Some are single by choice and happy. Likewise men too. No one should be cajoled to embark on a relationship/marriage coz of what people think of them or societal pressure. They should coz they want to. 1 Like |
