Criminology is a different course on it's own. It is the scientific study of crime and it's causes and it's responses by the Law enforcement.

It's more like studying crime to understand what motivates a criminal to act in such manner.

One who studies criminology can become a private detective and carry out investigations,although it is not really common here in Nigeria. A lawyer who is also interested in criminal Law can decide to study criminology to improve his strength in advocacy.

No,they are two different courses entirely and they slightly intertwined.

Criminal Law is basically the Law as it relates with crime. Criminology comes in after the Law has been broken and it borders on reasons why the culprit broke the Law and the method which he broke it.

They don't produce equal results.
