Ray360:You're welcome. Criminology is not yet fully accepted in Nigeria though. We have little or no private detective agencies and it's not a course one can find in every university in Nigeria. In my opinion, the people in the investigative department of the police should be well versed in criminology. |

naijaboiy:are we saying criminology should be mainly for crime detection and investigation and should be curtailed to just the force wing like police, military e.t.C? why criminal law should be fully practiced in law firms? school me |

Re: UNIBEN STUDENTS ADMISSION THREAD, 2015/2016 by naijaboiy: 11:32pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
Ebayray:Criminology as a part of Law or just criminology? I'm asking because criminology is not under Law and you can't go for a masters program in it except you already have a first degree in it. As for your question,i'm still offering all the Law courses as given. We don't have the choice to choose a particular branch now until our masters. By that, I'm particularly interested in furthering my studies on criminal Law(masters),then i'll run a 6month/1 year program on criminology. |
Re: UNIBEN STUDENTS ADMISSION THREAD, 2015/2016 by Nobody: 11:35pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
naijaboiy: Whoa!!! Dats tough o! Hmm, maybe I'll run a 1 year prog on d criminology too. Btw, I hope dy scrap NYSC b4 I finish school |
Re: UNIBEN STUDENTS ADMISSION THREAD, 2015/2016 by naijaboiy: 11:36pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
Ray360:1) Yes,except you want to be a private detective funding your own investigations with your money. I hope you know what a private detective means? Who else will have an interest in criminology if he's not interested in solving crime cases? It will be a waste of knowledge if you ask me,so it's better we leave it for the force and those who are interested private investigations. 2)Yes...totally. only potential Lawyers or Law students can practice criminal Law. |

Re: UNIBEN STUDENTS ADMISSION THREAD, 2015/2016 by Ray360: 11:38pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
Ebayray:why won't crime make wave in our country when the Intellectual arsenals required to curtail criminals' excesses are lacking. to be a detective requires a high level of intelligence buttered with An equipped cache to carry out operations . look at America, the FBI is as powerful as the sun, known world wide as force to be reckoned with. we just celebrated independence yesterday, yet there are many lows to be corrected before our county can swim on milk of Paradise. |

naijaboiy:Only you? criminology and criminal law. ah. with those two, you should be able to detect a criminal by his smiles. |
Re: UNIBEN STUDENTS ADMISSION THREAD, 2015/2016 by naijaboiy: 11:42pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
Ebayray:Lol,,its not easy to set up a private detective agency. It costs a lot. You'll need the tools and equipments for forensic investigation. Thumbprint indicator,DNA sampler and all that. But when one is able to start such, trust me the money coming in will be much. Especially in Nigeria here where there will be no competition. Imagine the government paying you to help investigate the kidnap of olusola falae. That's millions na |

Re: UNIBEN STUDENTS ADMISSION THREAD, 2015/2016 by Ray360: 11:46pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
naijaboiy:hmm... Thanks. it's quite pathetic to know that Nigeria is still far behind in crime detection skills. and that there no tangible crime control agencies with competent detectives. |
