amsad19: I would like to focus your attention on the topic of this thread. Forget everything else. In reference to your attempt at legitimizing Fulani's carnage in Yorubaland....you will be given plenty cause for that, trust me. You have one more chance to shed blood in Yorubaland, at this point it doesn't even have to be a Yoruba blood....any blood! 7 Likes 1 Share |

CyberWolf: That's why no Igbo must get involved. While we sympathise with Yorubas, they have to deal with it. All we can assure the Yorubas is that we will not allign with fulanis to do you harm. Igbos must not repeat the mistake of Nzeogwu and Ifeajina. In 1966 when the sh.it hit the fan, Yorubas aligned with northerners to annihilate the east 12 Likes |

this is probably an area where Buhari will have to be taken to task. he can't pretend he doesn't see or hear what's happening. maybe if fulanis are killed in their numbers in the south west then he will be forced to act. this is a laxity on his part that is baffling. people think the yorubas are cowards, I am yet to see the tribe in Nigeria that has fought as many wars in the pre-colonial era as the yorubas, am not talking of village squabbles or ordinary riots o. 5 Likes |

EdCure: When Balewa and Sadauna of Sokoto were destroying the Yorubas, Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna came to your aid only for your people to turn against Ndigbo. If Fulanis come against Ndigbo, we will not go seeking Yoruba help as we have grown to know that Yorubas will never be there for us. The SOUTHERN RESISTANCE you wrote of, was needed on 28th march 2015, but yet again, Yorubas teamed up with Fulanis. At the moment, the SS and SE should stick together. Yorubas should fend for themselves, as much as I sympathise with Yorubas in this issue 15 Likes |

SovietBomber: There is a reason he led a delegation to Governor of Oyo State, Lam Adesina. The instance was a declaration by Agbekoya to completely wipe out Fulani herdsmen, first in Oyo, and then outwardly in other lands in the Yoruba Commonwealth. Adesina made him and his crew looked foolish. Olubadan intervened and got Agbekoya to back down. Agbekoya is a cooperative of farmers in Yorubaland....sort of a indigenous labour union for farmers. They are more lethal than Afenifere. Add to that, when OPC went to work and started killing Fulanis in different states in Yorubaland, instead of retaliating in the contingent Yorubaland, they ambushed and almost wiped out a Yoruba village in Kwara. In response OPC went up there in Kwara and annihilated two Fulani villages....not a single soul was left alive, from the oldest to the infant nursing on its mother's n1pples. They herded their cattles down south to Ibadan as spoils. Emir of Ilorin interceeded on that occassion. Afenifere has issued a directive....and Im certain Agbekoya and OPC have been notified. Afenifere has issued notice to the traditional rulers as well to guard their domain. Yorubas are upset, Fulani is about to get a whipping....this could very well lead to what would become of Ilorin throne and its bloodline. Fulani would first be endangered before we the owners of the land become endangered on our own soil. The line is drawn! 15 Likes 3 Shares |

MayorofLagos: Yes, Yes, the big Mayor - salute. I think we've been too engulfed with Igbo problems, when the real enemies are the Fulani savages. The Igbo might be greedy and covetous but at least they don't kill Yorubas with impunity like these barbaric monsters...and we need to pay them back in their own coin and show them that there's grave consequences for killing just one Yoruba soul. Yorubas have been fighting Fulanis since the 19th century and we can't lose sight of these people and their agenda. While we deal with Igbos on one side, Fulanis also have to be dealt with based on their crimes. 8 Likes |

aresa: Aresa, I understand the article was penned by an Iboman. His summary is self-evident in the landscape. Benue has lost more lives to Fulani than they have to bokoharam, same in Plateu State, Nassarawa, Niger. Na only Fulani waka come? What is more frustrating is where do we even place them....their nationality is very fluid. I am Yoruba first before I am APC. My allegiance to Yoruba is a stronger and permanent bond, APC is only a vehicle for my engagement in partisan politics and so on issues that hurts my people, I dont care about Buhari or APC. To be blunt, I hear comments about Falae's abduction being a national issue, no it's not....it's a internal issue for Yorubas to resolve and FG should not be drawn into it. 9 Likes 1 Share |

MayorofLagos: These folks seriously need to fall back. They can't just let some overzealous and savagely idiots keep killing innocent folks with impunity cos they have a mentality that they own the country and can't be touched. They bleed just like everyone else and they should let folks show them that no one has the monopoly of violence. After seeing the clown vying for the Ooni throne go to Kano to meet some inconsequential Emir - I've my doubts about these Yoruba Kings, to be honest. A lot of them are just political moles - not proper traditional Yoruba Kings. So when it comes to the nitty-gritty of self-protection, folks might need to start disobeying these moles to protect themselves. 7 Likes |

Zeus777: In January 15, 1966 coup, soldiers from every region of the federation (Nzeogwu - Mid-West; Ifeajuna -East; Ademoyega - West; Kpera -North) had staged a coup in which soldiers and politicians from every region of the federation (Akintola: West, Balewa: North, Unegbe: East, Okotie-Eboh: Mid-West) were killed. Their ultimate aim was to install and make Chief Obafemi Awolowo the ruler of the country and quell the 'Operation Wetie' that was ravaging SW region where Lagos, the seat of power, was situated. Unegbu was the GOC of one of the major army barracks. He was Igbo, and he was also the guy who almost frustrated the first coup of 1966 by refusing to release weapons. For his refusal, the Nzeogwu group killed him. Recall that soon after Nigeria got independence the Western region was in turmoil, codenamed “wild wild west” characterised by election rigging, thuggery, violence, arson, mass murders and other forms of corruption and acts of lawlessness, that occasioned the January 1966 coup, took place as pioneering acts in Nigeria. Remember, prior to the first coup, by 1963, the plot between Akintola, Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello was perfected and Chief Obafemi Awolowo was arrested for coup plotting/ treason. His trial commenced in earnest and he was alongside some accomplices convicted for treason and jailed for 10 years. This again was the first alleged coup plotting and conviction in Nigerian history. Intent on totally decimating Chief Awolowo, Ladoke Akintola together with vice premier Remi Fani Kayode went into a political alliance with Prime minister Tafawa Balewa and new political party known as the Nigerian National Alliance (NNA) was formed. By this time Dr Nnamidi Azikiwe had realised the folly of entering a coalition with Tafawa Balewa’s government and teamed up with incarcerated Chief Awolowo’s Action group to form the all progressive grand alliance (UPGA). When Northern soldiers staged a revenge coup in July 1966, soldiers from one region of the federation and their people (North: Danjuma, Murtala, Martin Adamu etc) singled out soldiers and civillians from one region (East) in the federation as their targets. Here are the members of Yoruba tribe that participated in the January 15, 1966 coup: (See Ben Gbulie: ‘Nigeria’s Five Majors.’). *Adewale Ademoyega is the most prominent Yoruba participant in the coup, there were other Yoruba officers who were involved at the dangerous execution stage of the coup. One of them is: *Second Lieutenant Olafimihan, an officer serving under Madiebo in Kaduna. He was sent by the plotters to gauge his commander’s loyalty. (See Madiebo pp.17-18). *Another is Lieutenant (some books refer to him as a Captain) Fola Oyewole. He, like Ademoyega, went on to fight for Biafra and wrote a book on his coup and wartime experiences. The book’s title is ‘Reluctant Rebel.’ *There is also Captain Ganiyu Adeleke who became an instructor in the Biafran Infantry School. For confirmation, see the list of coup plotters detained by Ironsi’s regime in Ademoyega pp.106-108, and this quote from Nowa Omoigui’s online account: ‘Mid-Western Invasion of 1967’: ‘Captain Ganiyu Adeleke, who had taken part in both the January 15 coup and the Mid-Western invasion before becoming an instructor in the Biafran School of Infantry was released at a later date after his co-plotters had been freed.’ Omoigui’s work is significant because, though he exhibits a high level of professionalism in his research, he has no sympathy for the January 15 coup. If his facts corroborate Ademoyega’s they are worthy of attention. For personal studies consult the following sources: *http://www.naijastories.com/2013/04/the-facts-and-fiction-of-the-january-15-1966-coup/ *https://www.nairaland.com/334770/famous-aburi-conference-full-minute/3 * Nowa Omoigui’s online account: ‘Mid-Western Invasion of 1967’ - where he mentioned ‘Captain Ganiyu Adeleke, who had taken part in both the January 15 coup and the Mid-Western invasion before becoming an instructor in the Biafran School of Infantry. * ‘Why We Struck’ - a book by Adewale Ademoyega, a full blooded Yoruba army officer, who was deeply involved in the planning and execution of the January 1966 coup. * Max Silloun (the military historian) landmark online article - ‘The inside story of Nigeria’s first military coup Parts 1 and 2 * 'Nigeria’s Five Majors’ - book by Ben Gbulie * Major General Alexander Madiebo - excerpts from his interview with National Mirror http://elombah.com/index.php/special-reports/13104-blame-gowon-and-awolowo-for-biafra-genocide-general-madiebo * ‘Reluctant Rebel’ - a book by Captain Fola Oyewole, who went on to fight for Biafra just like Ademoyega * See the list of coup plotters detained by Ironsi’s regime in Ademoyega pp.106-108 * Sanusi Lamido's writings, "Afenifere: Syllabus of Errors" published by This Day (The Sunday Newspaper) on Sept 27, 1998. * Sanusi Lamido's writings/publication in the weekly Trust entitled " The Igbo, the Yoruba and History" (Aug. 21, 1998) * Sanusi Lamido's paper presented at the “National Conference On The 1999 Constitution” Jointly Organised By The Network For Justice And The Vision Trust Foundation, At The Arewa House, Kaduna From 11th –12th September, 1999. * http://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/yorubas-are-the-problem-with-nigeria-by-sanusi-lamido-sanusi-elombah-com.111348/ * https://www.nairaland.com/334770/famous-aburi-conference-full-minute/3 Get the books and published papers and acquire some useful knowledge that can help you make informed decisions, and unravel the lies and propaganda being peddled in the public domain. 4 Likes |

Obiagelli:My sister, the events of the past weeks has made it very obvious (as i earlier pointed out) that the Buhari administration is more concerned with the consolidation of northern power and interests as much as (if not more than) sanitizing the country and providing the greatest happiness of the greatest number. Aufbauh: Guy, I understand where you are coming from, but I have chosen to respond only to the highlighted parts of your post. Yes, the minorities in the middle belt from Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Taraba etc., have done thier best over the years, to keep the Fulani herdsmen at bay. ![]() But people are getting tired. Many of these herdsmen are lawless and do not care about the damage and mayhem, caused by their cattle to the farmlands and properties, belonging to communities in the Middle Belt. They should have been called to order, a long time ago. Unfortunately no one is doing anything about it. Should the middle belt have to sleep with one eye closed, because of these marauders? NO! ![]() Every law-abiding Nigerian going about his lawful duties, is entitled to security of life and property, especially in his ancestral home. And the security agencies who are sworn to uphold the law, should be made to provide this security irrespective of whose ox is gored! Unfortunately, this is not happening at the moment. ![]() ![]() The question we should ask is why?? ![]() THE STRATEGY OF GRAZING RESERVES AS AN EXPANSIONIST TOOL In the past, there was a clamour for grazing fields to be provided to the Fulani herdsmen, across different parts of nigeria. Those wondering why advocates of creating grazing fields or routes for the Fula have suddenly gone quiet, need to realise that it appears to be an unworkable concept. The Fulani elites will support the cattle rearers/herdsmen, because they are the greatest owners of cattle in the North. So those expecting Buhari to lock up the cattle rearers or herdsmen guilty of kidnapping and causing mayhem in the middle belt, and other parts of the country will wait for a long time. ![]() ![]() There is an unwritten code among Northerners that frowns on confrontation with constituted authority. Where the powers of those in authority are to be challenged, it is done carefully with discretion. The stage is set and consensus is built gently, as discontent swells through the ranks. ![]() Any central figure leading the confrontation, also has to be on the same pedestal as those he confronts. That is why some folks will not rush to comment, because the problem is far more intricate and deeper, than it looks. Mere condemnation will achieve nothing, without some measure of action to back it up. Senator David Mark is from the middle belt. And so are a host of retired army generals and ex-security servicemen. Right now, they are keeping quiet, probably because they are exploring ways of resolving the situation via a diplomatic settlement. When this fails, all fangs will be bared. ![]() Like a blogger recently said:. .".Nigerians are being led to believe that these herdsmen are helpless bush nomads with a few hungry cows, that just need to eat the grass that nobody needs anyway. Since somehow their cattle can’t help wandering off into some farm, with, perhaps, some little destruction, which usually incenses a largely intolerant and hostile farming host community against them..." This is untrue. The attacks by the herdsmen appear to be a coordinated response, to win sympathy from the public, but unfortunately it has backfired against them. ![]() So kindly spare a thought and a prayer for those middle belt communities, who have borne the brunt of the attacks. In my humble view, the Tiv and other Middle Belt tribes should simply be supported to defend themselves and their ancestral lands, from the herdsmen and invaders. 2 Likes |
