tobimillar: One of her major offences is that she flew or ferried or by any means transported cash into the UK. The said cash was not declared as such at the point of entry. That is illegal. It is laundering. She fraudulent brot in cash in excess of what is legally allowed into that territory. That also is laundering. Business people are permitted to wire or transfer needed cash through banks or financial institutions licenced to do so. But this is flaunted in her case. She made huge deposits into banks. This is suspicious as she has no business yielding such turnover in the UK. That is fraudulent.... 2 Likes |

Abbeyme: From what you have stated, then diezanni isn't the only guilty Nigerian. Most of our ex presidents have 'laundered' money same goes to most Nigerian past and present governors, senators ministers, head of corporations etc. So why is diezanni's case different. I am not justifying though just asking 1 Like |

The UK Law The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 contains the money laundering offences. The act criminalises the use of criminal property obtained from criminal conduct. Criminal property is property which represents profit from criminal conduct. It includes money, shares and any property. Examples are the proceeds of tax evasion, the receipt of a bribe and benefits to a business from failing to comply with the law. Criminal conduct is conduct which is a crime in the UK, or would be if committed there. It is an offence to conceal, convert, disguise or transfer criminal property or to use or possess criminal property. This means that anyone who has come into contact with the proceeds of crime (whether knowingly or not) may be committing an offence. Knowingly entering into an arrangement which helps another to control criminal property is also an offence. Someone can get a defence to any money laundering charges by informing the police or the suspicious transaction they have gotten themselves involved in. Sentencing The maximum sentence for the money laundering offences in UK is 14 years in jail. The starting point is determined according to a number of factors. The amount of money involved is an important one. The seriousness of the offence increases as the amount of money involved increases. How many money laundering transactions occurred and whether drugs were involved are also taken into consideration. They can use these factors to successfully mitigate sentences. |

TIMEISWISDOM:now you used your brain properly because it is madueke;but if it is Tinubu, you won't be sensible like this. You'll insult & abuse Jagaban, you won't wait for him to prove his innocence before you starts calling him unprintable names. For me,I will wait for mrs madueke to prove her innocency. Let all of us always wait for the courts pronouncements on any individual before we shout "CRUCIFY HIM/HER" 1 Like |
