Saraki gave these PDP senators room to be saying all kinds nonsense everyday. He did a great damage to Buhari and APC. Without his treachery all these nonsense will not be happening. |

Pavore9: The Constitution says all States must have a minister. It says nothing about how they are appointed. Same way the Constitution does not make it mandatory for the President to appoint any Ministers nor the time frame within which to do it. |
Re: Senators Give Terms For Confirming Ministers by biltem: 8:49am On Oct 07, 2015 |
The presidency should just apply Obasanjo style for them. They will all run ! Yeye people. Because the man did not appoint any if their nominees that will continue the business as usual. |

It will be a good development if the Senate can involve EFCC/ICPC but they should know that senators will also be subjected to the same as time goes on. They should just do the needful in a way that only the right people scale through. |

[quote author=jomoh post=38739663]It seems Buhari has yet to learn the true Power of Presidency. The constitution does not support appointing ministers by batch. They should show us where it is written that all ministers must be appointed once. Bunch of thieves. Just ignore them and start using Permanent Secretaries in place of Ministers let their deputies act as the perm sec. Appoint trusted hands in the civil service as perm secs and communicate your economic policies to them . Its not mandatory that you must have ministers. When the whole country gets tired of the Senators we will demand for the quick confirmation.[/quote See, there is something that you are missing. There are certain decisions that cannot be unilaterally taken by the President except it is discussed and ratified by FEC, which the ministers are members. PMB needs a cabinet to function constitutionally. |

J byrron: Everyone has been saying the pmb list is a shame, but if you think deep, pmb is a very smart president, we all know he was placed with some questions able character for fund. So it proper they serve, so he put their names so that he is not held accountable by the character, if assembly clear them fine else the assembly wld flush them out for him. I just pray the assembly leave up and keep to their word. If any is found wanting, sent name back to pmb. For me it a nice move, am just wondering why spoke man of apc wld be in the list. Lol... pmb is smart president. He know what he is doing. 1 Like |

A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senator, representing Abia North, Mao Ohuabunwa, said the list of ministerial nominees is expected to be complete in line with the Constitution. Is this senator aware that when GEJ removed 9 ministers in October 2014, he did not replace them till March 2015? If we are to go by his warped interpretation of the constitution, does it means those nine states that the sacked ministers came from were non-functional throughout the seven months that it took GEJ to replace them? |
Re: Senators Give Terms For Confirming Ministers by Boss13: 8:57am On Oct 07, 2015 |
Okay, let's rule out sentiments. I think I agree with the Senators on these considerations, in short, I agree with them on all considerations. A minister-nominee should not have any petition on corrupt practices against him, likewise, I would advise that the security agencies provide their report on the screening exercise carried out on them. In our country, we must exterminate political influences being observed in institutions. Also, I have observed that we focus too much on the President and allow our Local Government council, commissioners and Governors to thrive on corruption. I agree that policies implemented by the Presidency affect Nigerians directly or indirectly, however, the State Governors, Commissioners and Local Government Chairmen make policies that affects us directly and should be held accountable. 2 Likes |

anataala: Can you please express that Section 5 subsection one ? Because... Section 138 of the 1999 constitution expressly disqualifies the president from Holding any other job " The President shall not, during his tenure of office, hold any other executive office or paid employment in any capacity whatsoever". |

the thought now comes to me.......from the list I saw as regards suppose ministers, I don't think they are credible and worth any portfolio In our nation. of the 150 million Nigerians, are these the saints we were expecting? most of them were former governors, heads of top government parastatal with unclean records. can't we have middle aged men and unknown people to be ministers? I think this government has nothing for change to happen. 2 Likes |

Pavore9: Now that APC is in power, the constitution book will now be a bible or koran which will be refered to all the time to dictate to Buhari how he shld run his own government. Lets stop decieving ourselves, democracy is and has never worked in Nigeria. Anybody who finds himself in the helm of affairs, shld run it the way he likes till we discover the system of government that suits us PDP,leave buhari alone, its his time! |

The Constitution is silent on whether ministers should be appointed at once or in batches. Buhari has wide discretion in this regard. Shop for books online. Check my signature. |
