Interesting and yet again PROOF of how STUPID we Africans can be. This RACIST of man hated the IBOS so much (its been documented in film and print).......YET he sheepishly bows down to his slave owners!

So let me get his straight, the IBOS were the enemy whilst HRM kingdom, made you learn HER ways, killed, rap.d your women, made your kids orphans, made you beg like a little bit.h for your freedom, YET SHE WAS WORTHY FOR YOUR PRAISE. Hence you were deserving of the brutality rained down on you by Kaduna Nzeogwu.

My fellow Nigerians, Africans..........Lets agree to love each other to the end, lets stop this Yoruba, Ibo, Hausa BS. If we dont unite, we will remain divided. I will forever hold my fellow sister/brother dear to my heart after all charity starts at home.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the greeting considering the state of things at the time. He was a subject of the Queen. The Queen was the Queen of England, head of state of UK. She was like the Empress of the British Empire which included Nigeria. Basically she was the Queen of Nigeria and the other was the Emir of Sokoto.
Btw, 1956 and she's still the Queen? Charlie don old finish

I don't know, neither do I care about those comments up there, but I would say he's done good by portraying the cultural norms of the africans. Thats how we greet and we've gotta keep it real. Whites are spoilt and thats why a kid can shut his father up and get away with it. Must we always copy them? And for crying out loud, she's a queen! We needed independence! Haven't you heard that quote 'NEVER OUTSHINE YOUR MASTER' OR NEVER ACT LIKE YOU ARE BIGGER THAN (HER)? Abeg to me he did the right thing any African should do. And no, I'm not Hausa. I'M AN UN-TRIBALISTIC YORUBA.

This kind of mentality is why they could hold on to Nigeria for over 60 years.

So you have not seen all these quotes and worse recorded interviews of Ahmadu Bello before?

And you will also join discussions here on NL claiming to know all about 9ja? And most likely also a graduate? And you still don't know of North's avowed intent according to Bello's philosophy? Haba!

Maybe you're not alone and that's why some people in SW keep dreaming and refuse to wake up.

Some people either accept their slavery or they have dignity enough to revolt. What I see in that picture is simply a slave and this reasoning about the picture is why people can be held as slaves for decades and centuries.

there is a difference btw slavery and colonization- get that. Both are bad though. I don't think Nigerian leaders at the time wanted to revolt. If they did, there would have been protests and the Queen would have had a very rough welcome. They wanted to peacefully sever ties with the UK (which was working) and in the mean time maintain normal relations. That's why i didnt c anything wrong with d pics (due to the state of thing @ d time)

Colonisation and slavery are the same thing. Somebody taking over your resources and your land and making you toil on it for them is slavery. Don't mistake that. And you need your history if you think there weren't revolts against the British. Look up the Iva Valley Shooting of Enugu. Apart from that, an African head of state or whatever deep bowing for the queen of a country who forceful took control of your lands, which means your fathers were killed, is simply slavery, especially considering the master-servant relationship between the British and the northern 'elites'. End of.

Rubbish! The British had already conquered the Sokoto Caliphate well enough that they had complete control over it. They didn't need to send their missionaries and educators to control the people because they already had control over the feudal heads who had absolute power over the north.

CHISOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IBELIVIT THIS TIME, BECAUSE MY RUDIMENTARY HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE MADE ME KNOW THAT THE HAUSAS WERE THE MOST SUBMISSIVE PEOPLE IN NIGERIA AND I BELIEVE THAT THEY STILL ARE, THAT IS WHY ONE IDIOT BOKO HARAM FOOL CAN EASILY CONVINCE ANOTHER COW TO WEAR A BOMB VEST AND BLOW UP THOUSAND OF INNOCENT NIGERIANS AT ONCE......... IT'S BEEN LIKE THAT AND STILL AFFECTING THEM. BLUNTLY SPEAKING, THE HAUSAS ARE THE ONES DRAWING THIS NATION BACKWARD. THEY DON'T WANT TO LEARN AND YET WANT EVERY THING TO BE SHARED EQUALLY, THEY HOST THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF ILLITERATE NIGERIANS, HAVE THE LOWEST CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATIONS TREASURY IN TERMS OF MEANINGFUL NATURAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES (forget the groundnut pyramid in the 60's and 70's) AND YET PRESENTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR 70% OF NIGERIA'S PROBLEM. PLEASE, I THINK WE SHOULD JUST GIVE THEM THEIR OWN COUNTRY LET'S SEE IF NIGER REPUBLIC WOULDN'T SEE A COUNTRY THAT WOULD BE UNDER THEIR SUBJUGATION........................

Her majesty was the head of all colonial territories then, remember. Nigeria had not got independence then. Sardauna was just a political leader. During that period those white people held their monarch in high esteem in the sight of the colonized people. That was the orientation then. (You can understand this from the Britain's national anthem, ' Hail the queen, may God bless her, protect her-----) Britain's anthem is all about prayer for their monarch. Even it is their cultural believe that their monarch cannot make mistake. Colonized people must demonstrated a lot of respect for the Governor-General who was the representative of the Queen in the colonial territory. That one reported to the secretary of the colony in London while the secretary of the colony reported to the monarch who is the head of all colonies. So tell me why sardauna would not piss for body in the presence of the oga on top.
