MacJC:

IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a certificated programme whose examination is conducted by the University of Cambridge thru Cambridge International Examination CIE (an examination board akin 2 waec).
.
As a teacher, one can apply 2 be an IGCSE examination Assessor/(assistant) examiner to CIE via d University of Cambridge ; but d Good News is dt u can "short-circuit" d stress of correspondence between u & UOC by applying thru British Council In (Lagos/Abuja/PH) in Nigeria.
.

Manie good morning, Please I need the list of requirements for Primary school in Lagos state.
Thank you.

I will send the comprehensive requirement over the weekend.

1. You need to have your own property or providence evidence of a rented apartment with about 5 years upfront payment for rent.
2. The property should be purpose built, have minimum of six classes , 6 toilets, space where children can play.
3. The classrooms MUST be spacious and well-lit.
4. Recruitment of teachers.
5, Furniture in the classes, toys etc.

These and many more are required for the visitation by inspectors from the Quality assurance dept, inspectorate dept and private education dept at the Ministry of Education Alausa Ikeja.
........................................................................................................................................................................

If you do not have your own personal property, I doubt if you will not spend a minimum of N2 million for a start. You will spend this or more if you want to start processing the approval of your school. Dont forget that you will also need to do a name search at the ministry before you commence operation.

For a start depending on your capital or financial muscle, you may also need to teach in order to reduce running cost. A typical small school that in yet to be approved and having a population of 50 pupils may be spending close to 100k or more on monthly operating cost excluding rent.

Do not be afraid the most important thing is to take action be passionate about what you are doing or want to do, in a matter of 5 years things should be looking up.

So can you educate us on how graduates can be streetwise and creative?

And also orientate your staff too because if they were, they won't pick up an employment in your school in the first place.

Every graduate needs to have marketable skills, apart from teaching what other talents do you have that can you can monetize.

I sold plots/acres of land at Ibafo, mowe, ofada, papalanto, owode egba, ifo, pakoto on weekends and during vacation while working as a part time maketing executive with a real estate company between 2003 and 2009. As a matter of fact, I made good money from this venture. The fund made was diversified into money market instruments and the capital market.

I started investing in the capital market in 1994, as a matter of fact I have stock brokerage portfolio domiciled with the following houses, Investment One, CSL Stockbrokers, UBA Capital, FBN Capital. I will not give the value of this portfolio, but if you do not have a minimum of N5million FBN capital cannot do business with you.

My full name is Emmanuel Ewumi, you can google my name and see my contributions on investment blogs. As far back as 2007, I was doing a combined margin trading portfolio of N30 million on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
I was only teaching because of the passion for teaching, and i never challenged my employers for a raise or query them why my subordinates were earning higher than me, I was not involved in the usually office politics, I never lobbied anybody to be made a management staff, everywhere I worked my promotion was always very rapid, because I am a workaholic.
.............................................................................................................................................................................

I am very sorry if I sound proud with my achievements, just trying to buttress the fact that everyone of us can do well for ourselves if we change our orientation.

NB. I made a 3rd class, not because I was not intelligent but because I never liked teaching/education, but thank God I later fell in love with the profession when I changed my mindset and discovered my purpose. I have postgraduate degrees and professional qualifications in business, marketing and management but God never allowed me to get a job in blue chip companies even-though I attended series of interviews.

I have worked in 3 schools between the time I started working in 1997 and my resignation in 2014.

..........................................................................................................................................................

I educate my friends and colleagues, about investments and planning for the future. One of my colleagues in the primary section of a school I left in 2006, called me about 2 weeks ago that his portfolio/asset/ investment has exceeded the N10 million mark. The guy is still working as an Assistant Head Master.
.........................................................................................................................................................................

I was motivated to think out of the box by 4 lecturers/professors. 3 at UNILAG and 1 at UNIPORT.

1.A late Professor of land and property law at UNILAG.
2. A late Professor of Education at UNILAG.
3. A retired Professor of Finance at UNILAG
4. A retired Professor of Finance at UNIPORT,

3 of these learned teachers were/are Naira billionaires, while the 4th is worth hundreds of millions. The only thing that differentiated these great men from their colleagues is there mind set and knowledge on how to make money, manage money and multiply money.

When sharing please don't forget your staff. They need the advice the most.

If I can share with my neighbours, suppliers, friends, acquaintances, even bankers, why wont I share with my co-workers. I do not have staff, but co-workers.

Graduates should embrace functional education, must be creative and be street wise. Graduates of Building Technology are jobless, while barely educated artisans in the building/construction sector are making cool. Just few months ago, the carpenter I contracted for the roofing and ceiling of a 3 bedroom bungalow earned professional fee of 100k for a job that lasted 6 days, while the bricklayers that did the German floor, plastered inside and outside of the building earned 250k. Rather than spend years on dead end jobs, graduates need to acquire marketable skills and having multiple streams of legitimate income is the way to go in the 21st century.
I concur with the street wise.... Its a dog eat dog situation out there.

Readers are leaders, unfortunately the average Nigerian graduate only read to pass exams. In fact they stop reading after earning their degrees, teachers are gradually becoming of this. Most of us who read do not read wide. I have a library of about 2000 books which I started accumulating in 1995, the books cover various disciplines and areas of human interest eg Politics, Econimics, Marketing, Strategy, Education, Philosophy, Science, Theology, Psychology, Biology, Ecology, Business, Management, History, Culture, Finance, Investment, Enterpreneurship, Personal Development etc. I also have an e-library that consists of over 500 titles. ............................ Currently reading a great book titled "How come THAT idiot's rich and I'm Not" by Robert Shemin. I shall endeavour to share the titles of Personal Development books on this thread once in a month. Someone defined Knowledge as "what we know that gives us an edge". Anybody who is a functional practitioner in the Knowledge industry ought to have an edge over other citizens.
Thank you for sharing....once in a month is not enough....twice would be better. I understand you are a busy man. In life, we are here to help each other.

It's obvious he's justifying it because that's the range he pays his staff and anyone who wants to collect beyond that lacks passion.
Passion is synonymous to being underpaid in his dictionary.

I wish I was exposed early enough like you do. I became more attached to investment by reading your investment experience Bravo Bros!!
@ Angrybull dont tell me that you followed me from the investment section to this thread? This thread is not for big men like you, this is a thread for job seekers and teachers. Just sharing my thoughts on how the average worker can change their mindsets. How is Sweden? Market was bearish this week, I hope our portfolios will turn green when we have a clue of the economic direction.

The word "skill" is preferable to "talent" in this context. Most people make it now with skills they acquire. Only a few manage to discover their talents, talk more of monetizing it despite the fact that human studies have proven that every human on earth is endowed with at least 3 talents.

Judging from all what you have said, i presume you are in your mid to late 40s. With all these accomplishments and financial acquisitons at this age, i applaud you. i foresee me being like you like when i get to your age, except that i am positive i will hit my millions earlier considering the tools at our disposal in this present age.

We have a quality in common - interest in landed properties. You have spurred me into action. Bless you sir!
manie:

I am less than 44 years old. I agree with you that it is easier to make it now compared to 10 years ago. Try to read" Business at the speed of thought". By Bill Gate

The only thing that differentiated these great men from their colleagues is there mind set and knowledge on how to make money, manage money and multiply money.
.........................................................................................................................................................................................

Just seeing this. Clap for yourself. At least you have your father's property to inherit.

I'm making my own waves, I don't need to advertise it.
I have my own skills and goals to achieve in life and to be a co-worker of manie collecting 20k is not one of it.

I wish your co-workers many more years with you.

Hey dude. I'm not on any stupid ground of yours. Spare my name mbok. I have better things to do than to bandy words with Richard Branson.
