No wonder Britain handed Nigeria over to them..

Yes, the more foolish an African government or any other third world country is, the more Britain and the west as a whole will be willing to work with such government. Western nations do not like an independent thinking person from a third world country, they only work with people they can control. People that have the potentials of being milked for the development of the west.

The man in this picture is certainly not Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna. He could be an emir or traditional title holder but certainly not the Sardauna.

You should also appreiate the fact that though a tradional title holder, Sardauna was not an Emir but a politician.

Look at his turban. Every emir has his unique way of putting his turban, like wise other distinguished individuals in hausa land. For example, those who know can easily identify the turban of emir of kano as distinct from those of Lamido of Adamawa, emirs of Gombe, Bauchi, katsina and so on.

Compare your picture with the ones I post here. Look at the differences in the turban and the physique of Sardauna, a bit taller.

1 Sardauna with the Queen in Kaduna 1956.

2 Sardauna with black turban together with late emir of katsina and some wihte justices.

3 Sardauna with some whites.

So you have not seen all these quotes and worse recorded interviews of Ahmadu Bello before?

And you will also join discussions here on NL claiming to know all about 9ja? And most likely also a graduate? And you still don't know of North's avowed intent according to Bello's philosophy? Haba!

Maybe you're not alone and that's why some people in SW keep dreaming and refuse to wake up.

most people dont know history and that has always been the greatest undoing of black...we have forgotten that histories are guide to the future not just for joggling our memories.....

average nigerians dont even know the history of his/her own family history not to talk of his community and then the country as a whole.......these and many more are the reason why the country cannot grow no matter how much we try

kITATITA:
So what's the big deal. In 1956, Nigeria was under British rule and the Emir was a subject of Her Majesty, the Queen of England. The official title "Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith"

Don't mind the ignorant beasts whose culture knows no respect for its leaders or their elders; with some of them it is quite ok for son to use his foot to kick his father awake from sleep (so much for their level of respect for their worthy elders).

Those shouting now do not even realise that Nigeria was at that time not an independent nation but a colony and part of the British Empire, in which every person was the subject of and obliged therefore to bow to the Queen (including their forefathers); besides even if the person bowing in this picture was indeed Ahmadu Bellow, he would have been representing the govt of Northern Nigeria only and NOT Nigeria; so all those voices of discontent from the south should pls STU because he wasn't representing you or your forebears - it is therefore none of your business; leave it to northerners.

As for respect; let it be known that this is a strong part of our culture and which will remain with us, because we are proud of giving due recognition and respect to our worthy leaders - openly and without shame before anyone.

For those who may not understand; let me upload three example pictures of different levels of respect as exhibited between some of our leaders within our culture.

Picture no.1 shows present Gov of Adamawa sitting on the floor before Atiku Abubakar for two reasons: out of respect for his political and secondly, for a father in law because the governor is married to Atiku's daughter.
Picture no.2 shows Atiku Abubakar sitting on the floor in a similar manner before SLS out of respect for the traditional throne of the Emir of Kano.
Picture no.3 shows the said Emir (in all his glory) not sitting but actually prostrating on the ground before his own mother - the utmost level of respect which some ppl with no culture would never understand.

Therefore, if Ahmadu Bello had bowed to the Queen, well its no big deal, so what, if he actually did what was already part of his culture - those without should pls find the nearest lagoon to drown their sorrows.

Yes indeed, there is pride in humility and we northerners have it - I pity those who haven't.

As at the time of taking that photo, Queen Elizabeth was the most powerful monarch in the whole world with several vassal mornarchs under her control across the globe not just in Africa. If she wanted any of them to kiss her a*ss, they would'nt be able to object. You need to understand that when you go before your king(In this case Queen Elizabeth) you have to bow -and thats what is depicted in the photo. The British empire conquered the hausa empire and other empires by sheer military force and was not slow in destroying the career of any indigenous ruler they deemed as a threat so don't be frontin on the British. They ruled an empire so vast ,that "the sun could never set on their dominions"

What's the big deal. The man is only a crown Prince whereas the lady is a reigning queen. The man is "His Highness" while the woman is "Her Majesty". They are not on the same pedestal since he is not the Sultan.
