Yeah I have mixed views about the boosting your account advice. If you do it, you have to be very careful so that it isn't viewed as money lodgement. @berexio1, how did you fix your issue? Did you just dump money into your account in one fell swoop? Omonjoe: |

gabrola: All these scopes you guys are sharing here are you sure it won't turn around to bite? What if...a VO snoops around to know what applicants discuss on forums and gets to know about this cheat? What if another nairalander applies same and then it backfires, we start firing prayers. My little advice, try getting a genuine co-sponsor to boost your funds or defer your admission till next year so that your monthly income builds up your fund. 4 Likes |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by ayooluwatoni(m): 12:32am On Oct 14, 2015 |
Omonjoe: Well, I can't categorically say PGD was the major reason for your refusal, but most people with these type and set of reasons are either PGD applicants or applicants with a wide academic gap. Unfortunately, you're combining the two. Lol 1. Try and tackle your personal asset/financial situation issue. The thing is, you claim to have been working for over 4 years, and you also claim your employment makes so much sense that you just can't leave it for the best job in Canada, but unfortunately you didn't proof these claims. Your total worth over the period of 4 years of hard Labour in a "good" employment is less that 2m, which is equivalent to say 13 to 15k CAD. You need to show proof that you've indeed been working and the job is good enough to bring you back to naija. Boost your account, of course not by a lump sum. You can print SoA of your other accounts, lodge in money with funny tags e.g "loan repayment". Just boost your account and show ownership doc of some assets you have. Even if na car document, no shy, add am! 2. Write a comprehensive Letter of Explanation. Let the VO know why you chose to go for a PGD program, despite having a 2-1. Don't be ashamed of the fact that you tried getting into a master's prog without success. Also explain why you chose to study your proposed course of study, and link it to your UG and also your job, and make the VO know how your proposed course of study will be applied to your employment. I wish you good luck! 6 Likes |

@ayooluwatoni I totally agree with both your points, especially your second point about LOE/SOP. @omonjoe @berexio1 @ayooluwatoni I however think that we should not hyperfocus and over-emphasize on the personal assets and financial status issue. I believe that it is when the VO is not explicitly convinced about the applicant's intentions in Canada that other imperfect aspects of the app start to look glaring. Fixing Purpose of Visit is the biggest elephant in the room. The other reasons matter of course, but a convincing Purpose of Visit could considerably allay the VO's concerns about all the other issues. I strongly believe that an SOP dripping with passion and vision for your future in Nigeria shows very strong professional ties. Such an SOP would have to be super specific... I made my sister write in her SOP very precise descriptions of what she would do in Naija with her Canada MSc. She gave very precise and informed examples of these plans. All over the essay, she kept linking her MSc program to the particular skills she would need to implement those specific plans. Btw, she had a similar study gap as omonjoe... also, she didn't include any study leave letter or property documents or car document or anything of that sort. She had also changed fields, and her job was completely unrelated to her BSc. But we helped the VO understand everything, thru the SOP. It was very time-consuming to write it though... it took a month to get what we thought was perfect. Btw, she did include her bank account statement. Also, I was reading someone else's GCMS notes in the past, and the VO noted that the candidate didn't have strong family/professional/financial ties to Nigeria. This was when I realized/remembered that you could convince the VO through one or any combination of these three ties (not necessarily all three). I think we shouldn't be too formulaic about the application process, as @khalesi noted. In my opinion, the best way to reduce the probability of being delayed (particularly for complex/PGD applicants with a study gap) is to be clear, convincing, and passionate about what exactly it is in Nigeria you want to use your Canada education to impact. Also needed is to clearly & convincingly justify one's past educational & employment trajectory. You would do this in your SOP, and would spell everything else out very clearly. Don't expect the VO to read your mind, yet be concise unless you are a very engaging writer. Finally, earlier in the thread (Parts 7 & 8 ), I remember there were several working applicants (in their mid to late 20s) with bank accounts less than N500k yet still got their TRV. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Read @justwise's post on page 67. It contains some very important links. Secondly, make Google your friend and then you can come back to ask more nuanced questions. Thirdly, gradually start reading the thread starting from page 1 of Part 9. crest2j: 1 Like |

idolda:It depends on the case and type of account. If you claim it's a business account, they expect bth deposit and withdrawal regularly. If it's a personal account, you can continue to deposit money into the account without withdrawal for 4mths (even more) as you intend. It adds up. You can include it into your SOP that money have not been withdrawn in the past 4mths intentionally; and that it had been saved up for your study purpose. This story will even be more convincing if the acct is in your name. Alles gute! 2 Likes |

My sister is filling her study permit form but her husband is to accompany her. He wants to fill the form to accompany her though it's just for him to be able to constantly visit her as he works here. What form does he need to fill as well. |

My people,i have been reading and reading here from the last thread. I am packaging my application for masters. i intend to apply to 4 schools for Sept 2016 entry. i understand its wiser to apply to more than one school from what i read here. Hopefully i should get admission. My bigger concern is with TRV i think. THis is my profile age 41 undergratduatedegree LL.B 1999 grade 2.1 overall best graduand prize in my graduating class and a few other prizes professional qualification , B.L (second class upper) 2000 Been working mostly since then: 2001 to 2002-nysc law practise 2002-2011 April - banking 2011-2013 March -home affairs issues/pregnancy/nursing mother 2013-date -admin staff in manufacturing company. Cash set aside for LLM 6.5m attachment to Nigeria- my daughter and land Can anyone comment on chances of getting TRV? I need some encouragement i think. I am particularly concerned because of age, everyone here seems to be younger, infact far younger. e be like say na me old pass(smiling) I was actually admitted in U of T as far back as 2001 and also 2002 but could not run d programme because i did not have enough money and was unable to get the schorlarship i sourced for then. so since than i have been working, home resposibilities crept in on me and i kept postponing for one reason or another till now. But i have always desired to go to canada and run my masters programme. please look into your crystall balls and tell me whats ahead as per TRV or better still those who have any information that may be helpfull or encouraging to me specifically, pls speak to me. Sincerely yours. 1 Like |
