Former Lagos State Governor has once again cleared the air over the controversial N78 million spent for the upgrade of the website – www.tundefashola.com Lagos State Government under his watch as Governor in the state, spent the sum of N78 million for the upgrade of the website – www.tundefashola.com. The former governor, who indirectly addressed the issue after the question, ”Did you really open a Website with 78Million Naira?” was raised by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe at the senate while he, Fashola was undergoing screening as a ministerial nominee at the senate chambers said he doesn’t sign checks or award contracts. He added, “I don’t fix contract prices, it is an institutional process. The only training I have is that of a lawyer, But in order to execute works on a project we need the input of architect, quantity surveyors, structural engineer and we have consulting ministries; For civil works it is the Ministry of Works, for science it is the Ministry of Science and Technology among others. Now periodically, they do market surveys with the Ministry of Economic Planning , the Statisticians are there to fix prices from biro to Iron rod to cement it is approved and it becomes the benchmark price of government procurement, nobody can award any other contract over that benchmark.” The unfortunate things about money is that it often raises suspicions even among brothers. Nobody have alleged that I have corruptly enriched myself, I could not be the master of computers and technology, I need something to do my work. or award contracts. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/10/ministerial-screening-again-fashola-clears-air-on-n78m-website/ 7 Likes 1 Share

If he doesn't sign contracts, doesn't he also question the legal inflow and outflows of cash and their purposes? How come he didn't see that one 49 Likes 2 Shares |

Now from your understanding, did he answer the question Useless trend! The truth remains that on record Fashola as gov of lagos state claimed to have approved and spent 78m on a website!!! This is how the steal our money. Imagine a governor claiming to know nothing about contracts. Who does he think he is deceiving? 20 Likes 1 Share |

Fasholas reply is shallow. He wants to claim ignorance that if some guy in a particular ministry advises him to pay N78m for a website he will not ask questions or do an independent investigation because his training is as a lawyer? Not a good enough answer! Fighting ISIS in Syria 24 Likes 3 Shares

Fashola has given leaders an escape route for cases of inflated contracts. It's so sad that some people are praising him for this answer, if the silly senators had sense, they would have pressed further to get more explanation. 28 Likes 2 Shares |

He answered the questions well to the best of his knowledge, and i understand but I'm disappointed in wailer they could not comprehend. He already explained before that he didn't sign cheque , they consult Ministry for the website. He is not a saint but to the best of my knowledge this man is a great leader. 1 Like |
