Many are mad, few are roaming

the painful part of it is that those useless women who don't know how to take of children are the ones that get pregnant easily. Just one romp, belle Don enter ..na them dey give birth frafrafra.they're as fertile as a pig but the ones that desperately need children and have everything it takes to mother a child, na them their eggs dey strong pass. E strong pass olumo rock.

What a pity

It's seems like this issue of post partum psychosis is now more common than ever.

I think hospitals should be doing impromptu follow up checks on new born babies within a certain period after birth and assess the mental health of the mothers before and after birth.

I don't know know what the statistics are for child mortality resulting from post natal depression/psychosis but they seem pretty high and increasing. embarassed

Most women who suffer post partum psychosis usually have a history of mental illness or a family history.A proper assessment of a pregnant woman is the best way to pick such cases. Most women will also present a few days after birth so the hospital can start treatments for such cases on time.in the western world,it might be easier to do follow-ups but in Nigeria follow-up is poor.
If the problem starts at home,it might be difficult(I guess that's the case of the woman in the story).

Generally mental illness is on the increase. In the case of post partum psychosis,i don't know if single parenthood(baby mama) contributes to it.Being in a loving and stable relationship does help to prevent it.

Yea.
I think more awareness on the issue should be raised too.
It's really sad.
