Mr sophisticated, you will always agree with them even when they insult your king and curse your land in front of you. You are far worse than your muslim counterparts who pledge allegiance to the sokoto caliphate to the detriment of their Yoruba ancestry based on mere political acquantance.

Truly, the present day Yoruba youths are a sell-out. No passion. No fire. With this trend,Yorubaland wil go extinct in less than 71 yrs
Very unfortunate.

Thanks broda mi.

I will continue to show openly that fairness and equality is the right tool to achieve oneness in a multicultural society like Nigeria.

I will however not stand any insult(s) to my tribe or race, irrespective of the affiliation.

In defending my root, I will not results to violence against others to air my view(s)

if I was to be an igbo in Akure I would advice then to come together if possible buy a cow, or goat or yam tubers or chicken and humbly go to the Oba on behalf of the igbos in Akure and apologise.
let peace reign, the disturbances and social media attacks are enough to put the igbos in Akure in the Obas black book, so let them just try and settle everything let everything return to the way it was before.

Sorry!
You are not liberal but a foolish gutless coward that the ibos take you for. No fire. No passion. No purpose.

Americans are arguably the most liberal, civilised and "sophisticated" people on earth, but they defend thier country & identity in the vilest acts and words with the most ruthless and savage efficiency. Not by appeasement or ego massaging.

The Igbo won't be sending another name that your deji will crown eze and make them his subjects. There will be a leader of all Igbos in Akure ELECTED BY IGBOS in Akure without any Deji influence.

The Igbo as free spirited republicans in Akure won't be subject to any King. Whether he is called Eze-Elect or President-General will be the prerogative of Igbos living there. If you can't tolerate the republican spirit of Ndigbo, you can ask for a different country devoid of the Igbo or re-unite with your kiths and kins in Benin republic.

The Deji, which means yam farmer in Igbo, has no authority over an organisation he does not belong to, or authority to tell anybody what to wear. His authority according to Nigerian constitution ends with people who want it, which are the people who choose to practice the culture he represents. He is simply not recognised as an authority of any sort under the Nigerian constitution. Further actions from him will earn him a legal proceeding in criminal harassment.

Not when the impostor "Eze ndigbo" meddled or rather usurped the power of the Deji by choosing the leadership of the market which by customary law falls within the purview of the Deji of Akure.

What's the position of the state government on the market issue? Where is the commissioner for commerce and industries? Which authority is responsible for the markets?
Is it the deji or state govt? Who collects the taxes? Are there two authorities controlling the affairs of the market?

To hell with Eze ndi Igbo title but Igbos I repeat should organise and elect their leadership and deji or any oba should stay away from that exercise. That includes the leadership of the markets.

Elections are over...at least for now. You are not new to the comteptuous disposition of these ibos towards your people. Even if you hate Tinubu, is your oba and all Yorubas like Tinubu?
What is your contribution to the defence of your motherland (or heritage)? By being "liberal"?. Look into the big picture and find your place.

even if the market likes let it be 100percent igbos, if the law of the land says only the Oba can appoint a market head nothing can change that unless the law changes.
Its just like the python practice in Anambra if a yoruba man doing business there kills a python and is found out, according to the law he must bury it the traditional way, the yoruba man has to obey it, unless he decides to flee at night, he has no right to start questioning there tradition that has been passed on from generation to generation.

while I have met friends from the south east who are genuinely humble, I have seen larger population of same who are proud, attention seeker, over bearing and rude.
The only way igbos will not be exposing themselves unnecessarily to attack is to respect the tradition of their host. When you act the way that is a taboo in a foreign land, you are not punished because you arch an IBO, but because you've committed a taboo. An akure indigene who usurped the power of Deji would have been punished same way.
Ibos in my house are doing this same thing.
I remember when those spare part sellers at alaguntan at iyana ipaja, lagos were holding meeting to stop my brother from changing his rents after multimillion cost of thourough renovations that they themselves appreciated. Instead of begging him, they were holding protest meeting and sending foolish text messages. At a time I was annoyed. It was after an eviction letter from lawyer that they started begging like baby will do for candy.
Igbo should learn to respect others with their traditions and opinion.
If not, they will keep exposing themselves. And continue to play the victims card they are used to.

The earlier the ibos get over the loss of GEJ at the polls the better for them cos since the last elections the ibos have been allowing their emotions run riot all over Yoruba land. The Yoruba's in Lagos are still liberal compare to the Yoruba's outside Lagos. If they are in doubt, they should try out their skills in Ife or ijebu land.

Its time for the ibos to move on, 2019 is not too far away, they can start restrategising now to get better. If the likes of papa Clark the ijaw nation and even NOI have moved on, why can't the ibos for Christ sake.

Collynzo I thought you and other useless igbos on this site have said that Igbos only live in Lagos? What are all these millions of igbos doing in Akure?

Yorubas commend you for your free spirited republicanism, however you should restrict those practices to alaigbo. It will not be tolerated in Yorubaland. Yorubas hold their traditional leaders in high esteem and respect their elders, this might seem strange to you because you have been brought up to slap your parents and disrespect people.

Whenever an Eze is elected by igbos and he/she doesn't respect the laws of Yorubaland, he/she should expect the consequences which could be in the form of public beating and disgrace and punishable by death in other instances.

You will do well to tow the line of the OP to recognize that igbos are immigrants in Yorubaland and learn to respect the laws of your host communities. If you want to practice republicanism, make sure you stay in alaigbo and never venture into Yorubaland

Our landlord was very friendly.
He told us about snake and mbaise man story.
But I sincerely found out that a typical mbaise man is as good as you respect them and not take them for a ride.
A typical Yoruba man will accomondate and respect you until you begin to cross the line of taking him for a ride.
We are meant to live in harmony. So Igbo worldwide should have absolute respect for their host. Same way I respected all the customary rules of mbaise land.

That is nothing but the truth. I am a Yoruba man from Ondo state but I must say that Yoruba are the most wicked and hypocritical tribe in the world. Don't take their smile as love. They are the devil himself.

A Yoruba man will be laughing with you and be killing you at the same time. All the lecturers I ever had problems with were not only Yoruba but from the same state with me. They will be showing you around as their own brother but behind your back, they will be planning on how to destroy you and make sure you never reach their standards.

Yorubas prefer to destroy their own rather than help them. They don't want those below them to succeed. They always promise and fail. If a Yoruba man promise you a job, just forget it. You will just be wasting your time reminding him.

I have got more helps from Igbos and Hausas than even those that claim to be uncles. The only thing they are good at is making promises that they will never fulfil.

When I was looking for admission, it was an Igbo man that I did not even know from Adams that helped simply because he thought I was Igbo. A Yoruba man will never do that for his brother. Instead, they will be looking for every possible ways to bring him down.

My sister had problems with her supervisor who was a Yoruba man. But I never had a problem with my own supervisor who was a Hausa man.

I don't hate my people. I just hate their hypocrisy. People from other tribes are busy building their people and taking over our lands while we scheme on how to destroy ourselves.

I am in Ife. Please, anyone in Ife should go to Lagere now. All Igbos and Hausas have opened shop while my brothers are still sleeping and scheming evil against one another.

In Ilorin, Igbos, Hausas and Chinese have taken over everything because they keep on grooming and helping their brothers. Yorubas do not know how to build. They only know how to destroy one another.

Yoruba e ronu.
https://www.nairaland.com/2598007/yoruba-worst-tribe-world
CreamyBanana:

You know I am telling the truth.

Do you know Igbos secrets of how they are taking over Lagos? Because, they will own a shop, train their clansman for a while and help him set up his own business. They are spreading while we are shouting instead of helping ourselves.

dominique:
I'm Yoruba and I painfully agree to some of the things said by the Op. When it comes to being your brother's keeper, most Yorubas are lacking in that regards. My mum told me of an experience she had when her car got stuck in mud. It was the Yoruba guys that told her to pass that area that the road is not that bad. When she did and got stuck, they demanded to push out the car for a fee. She got angry and told them that rather than pay them, she would look for other people to push out the car and pay them. While she was still tongue-lashing them, two Igbo (not sure of their tribe sha) guys came out from their shop and helped her push out the car. She offered them money and they declined. She felt so ashamed for her people, I also felt ashamed. I won't say my people are evil tho. Evil knows no tribe or religion.

Yoruba e ronu tunwada (think and change your acts)
bakynes:
Am Yoruba and you can confirm from my previous comments. I agree with the OP on the point that we don't help ourselves. Even while I was in the UK, I could notice the trend among Yorubas. Indians, Jamaicans, Ghanaians help their brothers and sisters to come to the UK and help them get papers but We Yorubas even report our fellow brothers to the Home office, we don't accommodate our family members new in a foreign country for more than 6 months. WhIle in Nigeria I met with a lot of family friends who had companies but they kept on promising on helping me secure a job. Majority not all like to see you down and want you to keep begging them for money than helping you stand on your own. Igbos on the otherhand setup their brothers to stand on their own.

to me its right, if the yorubas hadnt stopped him from trying to lord over that one market, very soon he would repeat same in another market.
If the yorubas over look that one too, very soon he might start passing laws in the land. Thats the domination tendency northerners detest about we igbos lets try to curb it.
Guy you're funny... I can't believe you're succumbing to the obvious psychological blackmail against the Igbos. What you're saying now is exactly what they intend to achieve - making you feel you have no right as an Igbo to lead a market outside the southeast states, and for you to feel they're doing you a favor when you do business in those places. What happened to "one Nigeria"? The constitution of the country guarantees that anybody is free to do business anywhere in the country within the tenets of the law and following due process. It is that simple: you can do business and lead in any market in the country so long as you're a Nigerian and you're following the due process.
If the Eze NdiIgbo had done anything wrong, don't you think it would have been more appropriate to report the matter to the police or maybe inform his superiors like other Ezes, rather than handling it 'toutishly'?
The whole thing smacked of envy, jealousy and serious lack of civility, and it has set a precedence. Yorubas who lauded this shouldn't expect to be treated with civility anywhere in Igboland, and maybe if any Yoruba flouts any local rule in Igboland, the person should be punished without recourse to due process of the laws of the country.

u know say Ondo never advance like that, they still have village mentality to some extent, so the flogging thing is not a surprise, peace is better than war, threats and malice won't help the matter but would only make it worse as our people are in there domian.

You guys have been the one heating up the polity since march 28 when GEJ lost election, the tension btw Yoruba's and igbos have never been this bad just because the Yoruba's decided not to support GEJ for re election, this is the crux of the matter except we want to deceive ourselves. The igbos have labelled the Yoruba's as betrayals just because of that. Despite all entreaties, you guys are finding it difficult to let go and are using every opportunity to disrespect the traditions of our land. Its all politics from the devilish PDP just because they are no longer in power, have you wondered why it is happening in ondo, a PDP state?
