I think you need a visa.
Check d website of ministry of foreign affairs bulgaria to know their rules on pesins with double nationality OR send an email to the embassy to get accurate information.

Am not sure there's any university in bulgaria that take in students around january/february . Most of the university I know always start their admission process from april and ends late september. But you can do a research on that to be sure.

Like I told you earlier I think it depend on the visa and the airline agent, if its written on it student visa you don't need return ticket.

You don't wanna know the kind of ticket I used when travelling to Bulgaria .... come on he has 6 months type D long stay visa which student visa as well... one way flight is possible... please don't buy ticket from agents go to airline office in Lagos or Abuja better still , give them your travel date and they will check flight for you ok... don't go to agents!!!!!! And please do you mean direct flight Cause you didn't use the right word?? Of course there is no direct flight to Bulgaria from Nigeria

When I say one way Ticket, I simply mean trelling to bulga (transit is sure) without booking a return ticket. So am considering flying with Emirates airline coz their fee for one way ticket is cheaper..
