Borwe: Xdm (xtreme download manager)(that's what I use) In my opinion it's better than Idm because it was able to segment a particular file a friend wanted to download where as on my friends windows laptop Idm was downloading in a single stream just like a browser will normally do it also has a very nice interface, they were using an interface very similar to Idm before they released an update |

Why don't we make this a Telegram group? We can then drop our telegram usernames. I'm averse to dropping my number on a public forum |
Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by Borwe: 4:04pm On Oct 18, 2015 |
danidee10: It's in Ubuntu software center by default? |
Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by danidee10(m): 7:01am On Oct 19, 2015 |
airsaylongcon: Telegram is good but the question is how many pple use it compared to whatsapp....you could pm me ur number if u don't wanna drop it here |
Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by airsaylongcon: 7:10am On Oct 19, 2015 |
danidee10: With telegram we can share a whole lot more. And I often tend to distance my online persona from my real life. if you stick with whatsapp too bad. I think as IT people we should promote more secure alternatives. I guess that's why you are using Ubuntu. After all the same logic applies to Ubuntu, how many people use it compared to Windows. if a techie will use Ubuntu that techie will try out telegram |

I seriously need a Linux system, I tried installing Ubuntu but the MTN internet is so unreliable that I never get it installed upon wasting so much bandwidth! Now Im looking for a person who could sell me a new laptop with Linux OS on it. Im new to Linux but it seems I just need it for my work now! |
Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by airsaylongcon: 9:28am On Oct 21, 2015 |
sinkhole: Why don't you download Telegram from your appstore and join the group? I'm sure you can get installation media as well as advice on how to install on your current laptop. You can do a dual boot installation meaning you can use either Linux or Windows on your current laptop (But NOT both of them simultaneously o!) |

Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by Barywhyte(m): 7:18pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
Good one OP. Maybe When I have android phone, I will join your group. Am also weary of putting my phone no here for whatsapp. Meanwhile, you guys should try out redhat variants like centos or scientific linux. Ubuntu is great with massive and highly helpful community but to grow in linux community, take a look at enterprise distr like redhat. |
Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by airsaylongcon: 9:54pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
Barywhyte: Not sure how active SL is. Centos though is another good distro. Actually centos is the completely open sourced version of redhat with all the redhat branding removed. Surprised when I first heard this but turns out it's legal. |
Re: Ubuntu Whatsapp Group by Barywhyte(m): 8:05am On Oct 24, 2015 |
airsaylongcon: SL community is active. Check out scientificlinuxforum.org I agree centos community is more active and vibrant than that of SL. These two distrs are great and they are virtually the same as redhat except in the area of access to repo. Now I am using SL after 1+ years with ubuntu. Its only the trademark thats removed from these two distrs. Redhat made the source code freely available for public in compliance with GPL licencing status. Thats legal. SL is great and the GUI is friendly. Either centos or SL is a way to go for anyone wanting to explore enterprise linux syadmin |

I have joined the telegram group already. I am a newbie to the Ubuntu environment. I installed it as the default OS on my laptop with the aim of running Windows in a virtual environment. I hope to learn much from the group. Let see how it goes. |
