I saw this... See screenshot below..
Did this really happen?
Those that work with Jumia, or those that know anybody that works there can help to confirm or debunk this...
http://radar.techcabal.com/t/why-is-no-one-talking-about-jumias-massive-downsize/2841/21

It's true!
Had an interview with the in Aug, CV submitted by someone who spent some years with them, though wasn't successful with the second stage of interview with an Indian guy.
Just heard today that the CV submitter was laid off for no reason. cry

Happy I didn't join the team, they were not as happy as konga peeps from my assessment.

If true, then the fate of the laid-off staffers depend on their contractual agreements.

Thats the starting point...

We need to hear from more reliable sources. If this story is true, I can only say: Sh*t happens, get over it! To the laid off staff.

Konga? Jumia isn't in competition with any one, when they have the cheapest products why would Konga be giving them tough time? An item for 20k in Jumia goes for 25k+ in Konga. Konga is a scam.

They could do such, cos their customer service is zero to merchants who sell on their platform.
Re: Did Jumia Lay Off 50 Staff In The Most Unsavory Manner? by Acidosis(m): 10:02pm On Oct 19, 2015
I don't blame Jumia. They can't give what they don't have. Everyone is complaining about shortage of money. The speed at which we get alert has reduced. I just pray it gets better.

It's better to sack unproductive employees than make them labour fruitlessly. With the experience they've garnered, they'll get something better. At least better than working without pay.

My friend who works there told me this really happened. People were just summoned to their HQ and told resign. No justifiable reason was given to them. She said the board was just looking for the fastest way to downsize.
You would never find NLC in this kind of situations but when money or politics are involved, you would see them shouting at the top of their voices.

There are no significant differences in prices in my opinion. Remember that a particular seller may have his products on offer on all the platforms of Konga, Jumia and Kaymu. A 5k item on Jumia with 1k shipping fee may be put up by same seller as 4k5 with 1k5 shipping on Konga.

I've used Jumia only once for the first time 2 weeks ago, not very impressed as goods got delayed beyond the promised date of delivery and I wasted time and fuel going to their office where I scheduled pick up.

Konga I have used tens of times and i have had no reason to complain.

By the way, who/which countries own these outlets (i.e Konga, Jumia, Kaymu). I wanna know if there's any of the three owned by South Africa. I've always avoided SA consortiums like a plague and justifiably so.
