Wicked nurses and stupid doctors worse than Rufai the trial-and-error road side mechanic.

When students are 'sorting' their way out of school, the result is quack doctors. I thank God only for good health. That's why I don't blame our leaders and affluent people that go abroad for medical check up. No faith in our health care.

Now I'm scared of Nogerian hospitals. There is always one allegation of negligence or the other

A doctor at the end of the day should be able to say I did all I could do. That is the core of the Hippocratic oath taken .
In this case, the hospital did little or nothing.
The wife should sue the hospital.

as a medic..could easily have been acute abdomen...he could have benefited easily from admission, an Nasogastric tube, a urinary catheter and close monitoring of his vitals through the night, while awaiting blood work and radiology (which should be available 24/7 in emergency centres)
lack of emergency protocols is killing my people! the doctor relies on book knowledge and intuition when medicine is both science and an art. recognise the symptoms and then treat or refer if beyond the scope of your practice. SHIKENA!

I am really sorry for your loss and extend my condolences. I think you are doing the right thing by contacting your lawyers. That is the only way to make things improve for the better. However, I have to ask why you took your husband back to the same hospital when it was glaringly evident the doctors there were incompetent during the first visit?

This is why those who can afford to will run out of the country for medical check up at the slightest hint of medical need. It is rather unfortunate, but trusting your life in the hands of a Nigerian hospital is like playing the lottery. I blame the government for poor medical facilities and our educational system for churning out half-baked medical practitioners.

most of the doctors that are been churned out of the universities are blockheads... thats a fact we all know. Fidgeting people. No confidence and na so they go dey pose up and down..

thats how one young doctor nearly killed my mother last year until a consultant walked in at the nick of time, the consultant was so scared he flung his brand new Toyota car keys away through the window and which took more than 5 people to find. we were later told by a nurse that if that consultant had come even 10 minutes later there would have been nothing anyone could have done

I think hospitals should make a comfortable accommodation for their surgeon and important medical personnels just incase of emergencies like this and should there be need for d personnel to travel for rest there should be a hired team available always.. so what's the need for the oath swearing to save lives or did they do it for name calling.. doc.. Dr kevwe etc

recently in aba a man of 31 died outta carelessness of our new generation graduate doctors.. prolly he was facebooking or twitting or pinging or nairalanding sef that made him say an emergency case wasn't serious... At 1am the young father of a 6 days old son was brought into d hospital after he was shot in his stomach and d foolish doc said it was no emergency... asked for deposit and it was given... as at 7am the victim was still talking though in pains b4 someone called d snr surgeon by 7:45am by then they could do little or nothing..

Well I watched a similar thing happen to a very close family member in 2003. One gotta be prayerful when going to Nigerian hospitals. Mine wasn't at St Nicholas though, but so many incompetent challantants are custodian of human lives in most of our clinics. Unfortunately they by their negligence n incompetence cause pains that are irredeemable.

Ma'am I feel your pain, the private hospitals are even better.You need to see what goes on in the General Hospitals.I lost both parents to doctors negligence, one died of acute pulmonary failure and the other pancreatic cancer.Godbless their souls

This is just too sad/bad

In Nigeria, people don't take the important things seriously. They stay very far from their places of work and are so unreachable in times of emergency.

Firstly..RIP to the dead.

Secondly .the man was a high risk patient hence the doctors were right to be cautious about medications.

Thirdly.. All the steps taken were medically in order

..even if he anesthesiologist wasnt needed till the man was critical. the radiologist wasn't needed until the necessary resuscitation was being done .

It's a very unfortunate situation.. But its giving the dog a bad name to hang it.. Nigeria is bad for all of us..imagine calling the anesthesiologist by 9pm and he leaves home immediately but because of traffic he arrives late then you blame him 'chai doctors don suffer sha..
I swear Nigerians are damn ungrateful ..Doctors are the very few coping with the poor system.

that saint nicolas hospital in a fake village health center.....its all over hype....i remember last year dec 25 i was at my friends house in lekki phase 1 for his birthday party....we were all drinking till late dat nite till a call came in around 3am when we were in the club dat his mother inlaw is sick ....we all went back home and d next morning the mother was taken to devil nicolars hospital....he was told to put initial deposit of 1million naira which he paid....and she was wheeled in for scan and the rest.....i left happy thinking at least this solid hospital has enough equipment to take care of her....she is just hypertensive oh.....only to get a call that the mother died dat night.....i wondered wat was the 1 million naira for....what really did they do with it....and they still had to cough out more bills oh....i prefer to go health center in my village than that hospital....all dem sabi na effizi...and put magazine make u read.....nuffin dey there
