The quote does not tell the full story because Shittu had already criticised Boko Haram for a few minutes before that. He just did not want to go further. Cowardly? Perhaps,. But we do know scholars and imams have been assassinated for speaking out against BH evil.

Overall, I think, Shittu is a weak ministerial choice and I think we should be assessing their capability not distractions like this.

A lot of people feel Muslim leaders of thought are not bold enough to raise their voices against the BH. I think Mr Shittu proved it yesterday by openly showing his own yellow belly. It was amusing that the minister-designate is afraid of death at the hands of BH. Should that be the case for such a staunch Muslim, if he wasn't a hypocrite ? Speaking up/out against BH is a good form of Jihad and dying because of it guarantees Al-Jannah, dosent it?

I keep on saying that Nigerian Muslim clerics love life way too much. The main reason why BH is hard to quench is that its members are convinced in their delusion that dying in their own Jihad guarantees them heaven. Muslim leaders obviously do not think this is the case if they themselves are afraid to lose their lives by speaking out, in Jihad, against the activities of BH consistently. The criticisms that emanate from their Yellow bellies is at best a whimper.
