More than four months after his inauguration in late May 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari finally submitted his list of ministerial nominees on 30 September.

Currently undergoing a vetting process by the Senate, candidates are yet to be assigned their cabinet portfolios, but Buhari has already appointed himself minister of the most lucrative, opaque, and corrupt ministry of all: petroleum resources.

Although this could prove to be a positive step following Buhari’s recent overhaul of the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), much is yet to be done to address pending corruption probes and reform of a sector that constitutes about 11% of GDP, 94% of export revenues, and 70% of government income.

Tackling the prevalence of oil theft and insecurity in the Niger Delta, as well as the approval of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) that has been stuck in parliament since 2009, will be crucial for the recovery of a sector that is proving to be a strain on the Nigerian economy.

In the absence of an economic policy team, investors are becoming increasingly weary of Abuja’s ability to address downside risks.
Although Buhari is implementing encouraging reforms in the oil sector at a time when the non-oil sectors are gaining ground,

investor confidence may plummet further if the government continues to drag its feet.
Crude troubles
Although decreasing, the weight of oil on the Nigerian economy is still too important to be neglected.

The previous administration proved to lack the necessary resolve to address the two most important phenomena affecting crude production and revenue: oil theft and misappropriation of funds.

For years, and particularly during the Jonathan administration, oil has been stolen from export terminals, pipelines, and tanks – sold thereafter in foreign black markets.

In addition, oil funds have recurrently gone missing, as first evidenced when the former central bank governor Lamido Sanussi denounced $20 billion in misplaced oil receipts from the NNPC, only to be sacked as a result.

To add fuel to the fire, former militant leaders of the Niger Delta have threatened to resume agitation in the country’s oil epicentre at a time when Buhari has terminated the petroleum pipeline protection contracts with companies owned by ex-militants ahead of an imminent expiration of the amnesty program for former insurgents this December.

The politicisation of the oil industry has therefore proven to be a fundamental hindrance to its progression.

I'll still preach caution in dealing Oando.
@ Cadno, How did my previous post create fear? Many are still licking wounds sustained dealing Oando. So it seemed then too, that it can only go up. Like you said, everyone trading it should set a reasonable exit price and don't bother buying if you are not in this train already except for long term (personal opinion).

There is a news item on Oando this morning in the Leadership newspaper........A positive one. Can someone post it please?........device not cooperating.

Anyone expecting this oando rally to continue is sitting on a long thing.....Investors in this stock should be highly cautious because after S & D is P & D.....Don't let them dump this useless stock on your head. I don't expect the price to go far and I don't see their result ( if it is ready) to be a good one. Beware!!!!!!

Next time take it to them directly or scan it to them.......Afriprudential is a good registrar and smart............Try to know if the e-dividend is active and then inform them in writing to pay all your future and pending dividend warrant into your account............Time to demand.........

When your signature is not on their register, they will need confirmation via cscs to authenticate your signature..........I think it takes up to two months ...........

Best Advice ever.

U don't go to sleep and bank on longterm sustainability of most stocks. Anything can happen especially in climes where Sec allow devious act to take place. Imagine likes of DAAR, PHB and unending reconstruction of some companies.

besides, iv not seen any dividend warrant of Oando since last quarter of 2015. maybe it's giving me a head start to give up the emotions on O and O with some tinge of hatred and move on. Some cowboys are better not trusted even with an unloaded Gun.

I am currently having this same issue with United Securities. They will not even process my eDividend forms until my brokers send them transfer forms from CSCS. I did not have this problem with APR. I think they are still living in the days when they held investors monies using all sorts of excuses so they can invest the monies and make their own.

Please does it affect your e-dividend payment if your signature is not with the registrars?
