These GDP figures prove Ondo state is extremely underrated.Everyone's attention is focused on Oyo,Ogun forgetting the fact that Ondo state produces the most Cocoa and not forgetting Oil.I even heard mimiko wants to turn Ondo state into a Chocolate manufacturing hub 5 Likes 1 Share |

Good thread... Awon alale, Ilee Odua, aagbe wa ooo. Oyo, Osun & Ekiti state needs to improve on their IGR, thou I wonder how they would achieve this easily considering few industries in their domain apart from Oyo. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Aareonakakanfo: Cocoa farming in Ondo State needs revitalization and Govt. intervention, I have cocoa plantation in Kajola Ojurin, in Odigbo LGA of Ondo State, believe me, the farm is not doing very well like it used to in years past. Most farmers are now converting to some cash crops like cashew etc... 3 Likes 1 Share |

With rail system connecting all the states in the SW, people can live in osun and work in Lagos. When compared to what we have now, 2 hours of commute each way won't be bad. modath: 2 Likes |

coolitempa: The current farmland is getting old, the cocoa trees are not bearing much fruits like it used to, we are yet to discover how to reenergize the dying trees. The burden of acquiring a new farm and the associated task and waiting time of between 3-4 years to start reaping the fruits of labor. Unavailability of laborers in the town to help with the weeding and other farm work etc., 2 Likes |

Firefire: Hmmmn does that mean Cocoa farming in Ondo state is overhyped beacuse my brother also owns a Cocoa plantation in Ajowa and its the same thing. The emboldened part is the reason why I've always wanted true federalism.Let everyone manage its resources. These are the things DAWN Commission wants to correct 11 Likes |

Firefire: Attracting farmland labour should not be a problem provided the capital to employ them is there...I know for a fact that this government plans on focusing on agriculture in a big way and continue on the gains made by the previous minister. With regards to the aging of the farm, have you consider the use of fertilizers to replenish the weak soil...Just asking ...no harm intended. There are soft loans which can be obtainable to re-energise your farm. 2 Likes |

OkutaNla: Yes Sire! Iyaganku GRA is equivalent to Ikoyi/Asokoro of Ibadan. one thing I love about Ibadan is the many numbers of estates/gra's there. I just laugh it off when I see people posting pix of rusted brown roof as Ibadan . there are some places you will enter in Ibadan & you will be thinking if it's wuse/garki. 8 Likes |

coolitempa: Fertilizer for cocoa plantation would not be a solution to aging farmland. We are now diversifying into Oil Plantation...etc. Btw: This is one of the multiple stream .... and not full focus. Hope the govt. involvement with other aspect of cocoa farming, like preservation, storage, competitive pricing and readily available market where farmers breaks even comes quickly. 2 Likes |

Firefire: I've said this several times, the only way we might be able to achieve that is with our votes.Any party that's not ready to give us this then we won't vote for that party but the problem here is the southwest hardly speaks with one voice, maybe if all south-west states are unified by a single party, then we might have a head way.True federalism or seccession is not achieved on Nairaland 7 Likes 1 Share |
