I initially announced my retirement from nairaland and actually stayed away from this site for weeks to have some peace of mind. Recently, I started reading topics on nairaland as a guest and discovered that IPOB nuisance is getting out of hand.

I have decided to return because I can no longer keep quiet while some misguided elements continue to paint the Igbos in negative light; no thanks to the myopic Kanu Nnamdi.

This is just to announce that I am back and nairaland will read much more from me.

I have also discovered that the MODs have not been doing enough to help check IPOB nuisance on nairaland, reasonable threads created by intelligent Igbos like Lygn19/Abagworo are never sent to the front page. A lot of this happened to me too before I retired.

Seun, Please I would need you and your MODs to help me because I intend to change the tide here.

Welcome back. It is good for people like you to come out and speak against the senseless rants by Kanu and is Aba traders gang. They are trying to mislead and radicalize Igbo youth with lies and falsehood in other to turn them against other tribes in Nigeria. You will never find older generations of Igbos who actually experience the civil war advocate for another civil war.

Nobody is condemning self determination agenda of some Igbo Groups, it is their rights, but the problem, is the manner they are going about it. You cannot force other indigenous people into your own struggles. Secondly, You have over 10 million Igbos scattered all over Nigeria, what will be their fate should hostilities break out between Nigeria and Igbos? Can IPOD handle the expected "exodus" into Igboland? Remember, the population of Igbos in other parts of Nigeria had increased over 10 fold since the last civil war.

If the Igbos want to secede, they should form political groups with secession as the manifesto and win elections. Then their political representatives can make a case for secession at the National Assembly, OAU and UN. Threatening everybody that does not share your views is foolish.

What is even the strength and influence of IPOD? I doubt they are not more than 10,000, at most 20,000. Are these small minority a fair representation of the dreams and aspirations of millions of Igbos?

This is the problem here. These IPOB people are not as many as they want you to believe and a great majority of Igbos only desire a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
