Hello everybody! I'm encountering some challenges with my visa application. I was given a rejection letter a day after my visa interview, with the following reasons stated: "They are doubts concerning your serious intention to study and the reason for trip, further prerequisites for a visa approval has not been examined finally". Though I assumed it was because I had not yet funded the DB account, but I was finally able to fund the account. I contacted the embassy showing them that the account has been funded, but since then I have gotten no reply from them. Has anyone encountered this challenge? If yes, can you help me out? I'm so confused! Thank you.

i am already in germany in my ist semester yea1r @ bachelor..already i have my ist degree in Nigeria.is it possible for me to apply for msc here and abandon this BA.

Because in my 18mths here in Germany I ve nt seen a self funded phd candidate...Its either you re on scholarship or a university employee..Truth be told graduate sch is no beans and your research will ve an impact on society so its fair for phd students to get stipends or part time contract (Research or teachin assistants).

Also the cost of living for a phd students is nt same as a masters student..you will get the semester ticket to move around after paying your semester contribution but I doubt if you will qualify for subsidized accommodation by the studentenwerk ( varies from sch to sch). Your insurance premium will also be different cos Aok will nt accept you as a student .and your health insurance will nt be 81 euros...Unless you opt for private which I strongly advise against.so you see the cost per yr will be above 8K euros multiply by 3.5yrs thats abt 28k euros...If most europeans re to pay this money they wont go near the university...they cant afford it simple as abc...you need to see the shock in my classmate face when I told him I had to deposit 8k euros in a blocked account before comin to germany..his response ur parents must be very rich ( fear nor go even let me tell am say na me fund myself).

AFAIK as a phd candidate you re required to attend at least one conference per yr ..and also make presentations and publish papers( Journal fees re on the increase )...in ur case as self funded student who will incure this cost?

Also the idea of you workin and doing a phd will nt fly....Phd thesis is an original research and requires devotion ...People who re funded and devote all their time finish their phd in 3 yrs, some more and take abt 6mths to write the thesis before the disputation...in total we lookin at 4yrs.

Excuse my rants....in Summary...

I understand your zeal to come over to Germany for a doctorate degree..but please do not allow anyone to take advantage of you...In a country where masters students writing thesis are been paid I see no reason why you shld start a phd self funded.my advise is this.

Search for more supervisors in your field and send unsolicited applications .......there is alot of money flying around in sciences..and you will get a position ..I m sure of that because you C.V must be good for your current supervisor to even consider you.

Search for new graduate schs and research insitutes and check open positions.

Check research insistutes like

Max planck
Fraunhofer Gesellschaft
Hitec

Visit the daad webpage there re loads of scholarhip offers there...your supervisor can apply for some for you.

I will check some for you and post them here.

I hope this helps.

All the best Man

P.S at this stage (after your masters) you deserve to be paid to read any material or do any research

Bros u made a mistake by funding ur account when they hv aalready rejected u ..anyway the mistake have been made ..what u need to do nw is to appeal ..most of us dat got visa did not fund our account before interview ..we were asked to fund our account immediately after interview ..so I guess u didn't do well during interview ..just appeal ..eke40seven has posted an example of an appeal letter here before ..just get it and appeal ..dats all and pray also

Bro. You shouldn’t have funded your account after you were rejected. You should have just appealed and try to convince the VO and indeed the German Consulate that you have serious and genuine intentions of studying in Germany. The fact that they stated in your rejection letter that “further prerequisites for a visa approval has not been examined finally” means, in my opinion, that they have not critically considered your student visa application to its finality. The VO just decided to reject you based on reasons best known to him/her. Perhaps, you failed woefully during the interview and you were unable to convince him or her about your intentions of going to Germany and he/she figured its not necessary to continue with your student visa application You should have just appealed and try to convince them. Not go ahead and fund your account. If I am the VO, the steps you took by funding your account despite your rejection for reasons about doubts concerning your serious intention to study in Germany will seem to me as desperation on your part, which is not a good thing. But then, I am not the VO.

Just appeal right away. Convince them that you have genuine intentions of studying in Germany. And you have complied with all requirements. Try to be humble and as well assertive. You can suggest to them that, if given the chance, you will be willing and ready to come for another interview if they think you need to be physically present before the VO to answer questions bothering on your intentions to study in Germany.

Search for Eke40Seven’s post on a proper appeal. He has properly dealt with this issue and i think it will help you.

Goodluck

Good day all
First I want to say it's amazing to see the way you guys are always willing to help.

I have been following this thread from part one, but lost my phone with all the bookmarks with the info I need and as time is so scarce I can't even go back and read 20 pages.

Just have some questions;

1) If I'm gonna apply to say 5 schools, do my uni lecturers have to write specific recommemdation letters to all ? Or he could help with one and just change who it's addressed to ?

2) do I need to certify every single document I'm going to use for applications or just some specific? And how does one go about certifying at the German embassy?

3) do I have to certify every page of my transcript?

4) can I apply with a scanned copy of the recommendation letter ? Cos due to urgency I can't travel back to Edo state to get it

To my Ogas in the house especially our germo study professor Eke40seven ... Need as much help as I can please .

Danke

I get a lot of works to do to be able to answer all in details but I will give you tips on how to search for the discussions here because all these questions were answered in details. Even, person even yab me wella because of the advise I gave about recommendation l letters.

1. Go to the search option and type "recommendation letter" under this thread

2. Search for "certification" or "notorisation"

3. Yes, why not? Of course apart from that introductory letter that goes with it.

4. Well, I did, it all depends on what you wanna do with it.
I hope you find it useful

I will try and make out time this weekend... I still have like three others on my cards. I have been moving from North to south for something important, accommodation searching in Munich is a pain in the ass, my lectures still be like rocket science rather than what I applied for, I have barely settled here....

Fir those who are tryna appeal, in addition to what I said, you could also try interpreting in German, someone was given a priority of response because of that although I don't really know whether it's actually the content of the letters rather than the language that made them schedule an interview.... Wish you all the best..
I'm a bit too tied, I will probably try to relay my short experience in Munich and probably other places I have been to...

Hello House. I have been an ardent follower of this thread for the past few days and I am highly impressed at the way people offer to help others here.
Please I need serious help! I did my interview at the German Embassy on 1st of September, but up till now, I have not received the am mail from the embassy. i sent a mail to the embassy two weeks ago to request for an update on my application. I was told they were already talking to the Aliens' office in Gottingen. I also contacted the office at Gottingen last week, I was told they have not received any document regarding my application from the Nigeria consulate. Now, the major issue is the my enrollment deadline already expired today and the school is not accepting any option of further extension as I had already seek for extension from September 30th to October 23rd. The only option my course coordinator offered me is for him to send me another admission letter for nest summer semester.
Please what can I do in this situation?
In case I need to defer my admission till next semester, do I need to do another visa application at the embassy since I am yet to get their decision on my first application.
Someone should please help me on the steps to take in approaching the embassy in case I need to go for the deferment.

Thank you all for your time and anticipated help!

My advice
To anybody who's has the naira equivalent of the 8040 euros kindly change it to euros now or be very watchful and know when to change it to euros as there are strong indications that the govt wants to devalue the Naira.....
