A whole Guinness? 76% loss? That's massive. Our economy is on a steady decline. Buhari is a certified dullard. It's now confirmed. Each Company has its own new year which must not necessarily be January. That of Guinness is July thus its first quarter for the year is July, August and September. The dullard president was sworn in before then. This makes him responsible. 61 Likes 4 Shares |

I think the present administration should pull strings and get back to work...they have been massive retrenchment of staffs in various organistations...that because they profits keep declining..companies are closing down, because they aint sure of govt policies direction, nigeria's unemployment rate is all time high and we can't allow it to keep skyrocketting! 19 Likes 3 Shares |

What are the factors that account for the increase in cost of sales? What are the activities from which the "other income' are gotten from? Obviously, the profit decline is caused mainly by the drop in other income Oya, let's start from there. Since sales slightly increased, that means guys still dey drink wella 10 Likes |
Re: Guinness Nigeria Suffers 76% Profit Decline by ShowYourCertificate: 7:38pm On Oct 23, 2015 |
Osyxcel:Yes, that's the question. The Nigerian population is on the rise and this expectedly led to the increase in the Gunness drinkers population. This should have led to an increase in profit but unfortunately it is not so. Cost of production is high due to our bad economy. What's the implication? Expect an increase in the price of Guinness and other alcoholic beverages. 76% loss, no company can tolerate such on the long run. 18 Likes |

There are hard and concrete facts backed with figures everywhere showing that this present administration isn't doing well, even in security area but sia buhari chanters won't see it. Good thing is all of us will sink together. 37 Likes 2 Shares |

ShowYourCertificate: Until you see the detailed financial report of Guinness for the period, you cannot state categorically what really led to the increase in the cost of sales for the period. I would have been more concerned if revenue for the period had fallen significantly compared to the same period last year. 4 Likes |

This dullard of a MAN has finished Nigeria. do u know what that profit decline and increase in production cost mean? It means they will reduce work force to cut cost or better still fold and go to another country if it continues like this. God will punish anybody who help put us in this condition.. 12 Likes 1 Share |

I think its has to do with competition from Sabmiller brewery and others, people in the Eastcoast adopted Hero brand as their own even here in lagos Igbos drink more of hero than any other. 2 Likes |

LastSurvivor: You called someone a dullard yet no post can be duller than yours. Beer is suffering loss of market share mainly because many people now drink wine and champagne. Nigeria is one of the places where the growth of champagne consumption is highest in the world. Besides, do you know the reason for the increase in costs? Do you know if some of their debts went bad? 12 Likes 1 Share |

DikeOha882:I don't think it's because of competition from Sabmiller. Guinness major brand is Stout while Sabmiller's is beer. If you even observed, you'd see there was an increase in sales/revenue. 5 Likes |

All those posters above needs economics 101 So because Enron leymann brothers etc collapsed so its now the fault of US president bunch of mumu Companies all over the world sometimes record low or high sales its normal it happens sometimes but its when the drop happens for a long period of time then you can lay the blame to government policies . Some mumu won't learn they just released one quarter which is three months with drop then its fault of my sai buhari nonsense Sai Buhari 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Good... I assume cost of sales increase was due to Dollar exchange rate of about 30% increase. 4 Likes |

ShowYourCertificate: Shoddy analysis! Did you notice that their revenue actually grew by 3%? Have you looked in th direction of 'othe income' and it's components? Do you know the make-up of 'cost of sales' that went up? Purge yourself of hate and apply yourself! Meanwhile, what I'm saying doesn't mean that I agree 100% with the economic direction of the present govt but your analysis is poor, shoddy and dull. 6 Likes 1 Share |

This is a company I scaled through their recruitment process for the position of sales only for them to send a broken hearted mail that the position has been cancelled. The problem with guinness Nigeria plc starts from mismanagement, non improvement of product brand, less aggression to their marketing campaign, and other factors. If not for the introduction of orijin, they wouldn't have recorded any profit but then again heineken breweries (aka Nigeria Breweries Plc) has really taken the alcoholic market from them. 7 Likes 1 Share |
