Nigerian Now Chairs American Board of Neurological Surgery

In what is considered a major milestone, a Nigerian, Prof. Nelson Mobolanle Oyesiku, is now the chair of American Board of Neurological Surgery.

The primary function of the Board is to conduct examinations for neurosurgeons and then certify those who meet the requirement, while its broad aim is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery.

Oyesiku, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, had his primary education at Corona School before proceeding to St Gregory's College for his Secondary education. He bagged his medical degree from the University of Ibadan School of Medicine and did his internship at the General hospital, Lagos.

While we are at it, who are our heros today? I have stopped every kid around me from watching yoruba movies and stations. The AREA BOY life is fast creeping on our young generation, our movies now portrays MC Oluomo, kunle poly, pasuma and as heros to our kids. This is killing the mentality of our children, these younger ones now believe hard work is for the dumb and success is in the streets.
Have you wondered why our farms are empty and the few active one are worked on by people from the middle belt.

I don't live in nigeria nor am I familiar with the growing generation of nigerians in nigeria, but the Yorubas around me are examples of success stories.

I hope others can answer your question.

Conjoined twins seperated by Nigerians in USA on DWN SPOTLIGHT

Nigerians have once again lifted the nations image abroad, as three United States (U.S.)-based Nigerian medical doctors were among a team that successfully separated conjoined twins in a surgery that is now making waves among American media and the global medical world.

The recent 26-hour long historic surgery on the 10-month-old conjoined twins in a Houston hospital in Texas had one of the top surgeons in the team as Prof. Oluyinka Olutoye, and two other Nigerian female doctors.

The twins, Knatalye Hope and Adeline Faith Mata, were successfully separated on February 17 and 18. Speaking with The Guardian over the weekend, Olutoye, who is the Texas Children Hospital’s pediatric surgeon, said there were 12 surgeons, four anesthesiologists and eight nurses in the team.

Unfortunately, its the Oshodi area boys that have their praises sang in virtually 3 of 5 movies these days with some even giving them cameo roles....

Some youths on the other hand are budding olamide, lik kesh or reminisce with zero talents to back it up!! angry

I agree with you. There are too many Yoruba hooligans roaming around even though i know that's a general scourge affecting the country. Some of those hooligans have potentials they can harness but parents are always forcing them to go school and they end up getting frustrated

Person get all "F" for 1st term, same thing second term, third term the same thing. What's he looking for in school? why don't you just encourage him to learn a vocation.I'll be honest with you, it doesn't look like that will end anytime soon with the way Nigeria is setup

Cocoa farming in Ondo State needs revitalization and Govt. intervention, I have cocoa plantation in Kajola Ojurin, in Odigbo LGA of Ondo State, believe me, the farm is not doing very well like it used to in years past.

Most farmers are now converting to some cash crops like cashew etc...

Can you tell me why cocoa is not doing fine like before?

I am happy someone ( DAWN) is looking into this problem, i think we need to speak with our movie producers as well, they seem to portray these touts as heros. If i had my way, NURTW should be banned too. It has become an inspiration for laziness
