QUESTION IS D NIGERIAN CUSTOMS CONSTITUTIONALLY ALLOWED 2 HAVE N OPERATE A PRIVATE JET?. THINK DEEP N CHECK UR FACTS B4 U ANSWER

What belongs to the Nigerian government belongs to the Nigerian people, it's public property, it belongs to you and me, meaning it's not a private Jet.

1. There's a clear difference between government owned jets and charter jets.

2. NNPC owned corporate jets so there was no need for wasting taxpayers money on chattered jets. It was reckless, irresponsible and obviously was a scheme to enrich the owners of the chartered jets.

3. Customs jets are operational jets so it's absurd and ridiculous to confine the head of the Customs and his official operations to commercial flights and their timetable.

4. Flying the head of customs and his officials around the country on multiple missions and stops is not only foolish and impractical, it cost more.

It's really not by force for you people not to ever make sense with your shallow and childish assertions..

Customs gets aircraft

By dailytimes.com.ng - Sep 1, 2012

The Federal Government has purchased an aeroplane for the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) at a cost of N1.73 billion.

The purchase is part of a bid to boost the capacity of the agency in regards to curbing smuggling on the country’s border.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Minister of Finance, who commissioned the new aircraft on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, said it would help the Customs Service to strengthen aerial surveillance of the various terrains along the country’s borders.

Okonjo-Iweala congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, on the acquisition of the aircraft and urged the agency to work harder in order achieve better results for the country.

“The aircraft is an investment for which the country expects good returns,” she said.

“The terrain around the country’s borders includes difficult-to-access riverine and mountainous areas, which make monitoring and combating of the activities of the borders challenging. Several customs personnel have lost their lives or sustained injuries during attacks by smugglers in recent times.”

The two engine 12-seater aircraft with registration number 5N-DIA,which can fly up to 45,000 ft in altitude, will be captained by Kuhi Mbaya.

Captain Mbaya disclosed that the plane is fitted with the state-of-the-art equipment and could fly long distances, revealing that he flew the plane from Kansas City, in the United States and refuelled in Spain, before arriving Abuja.

Dikko said the aircraft would be used for the benefit of the customs in enhancing its revenue collection and surveillance around the borders.
The ceremony was honoured by the deputy controllers general, air force chiefs and members of paramilitary organizations.

Thanks. I wanted to say that. At OP, next time you see any aircraft with green stripes and coat of arms at the tail, it belongs to the Presidential fleet. They have quite a large fleet, that is why they could lend one to the Custom's boss. Whether he is entitled to Presidential jet or not is a matter for another day.

You are wrong, he doesn't have to be part of any entourage to be on any presidential plane, he serves at the pleasure of his boss aka the president and the president can send any presidential jet to fly him to and from anywhere if the presidents needs his service or needs him to be anywhere around the globe to represent him or Nigeria in general.

This particular jet belongs to the Nigerian customs and it was bought in 2012 and commissioned by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

2. It is not my opinion that as commander in chief, PMB can direct any government plane at his disposal to take the customs bus to and from any place on he surface of the earth in any official capacity or engagement on behalf of the federal government of Nigeria. This is a FACT and not my opinion.
