IlekeHD:yes now just as we were blaming cameroun people for the kidnap of our leader olu falae, dat the kidnappers were cameroun people in disguise wearing fulani attire. I pray this cameroun people who disguise as fulani dont kidnap our king Oba deji of Akure we would have no choice than to blame calabar people they put on fulani disguise to deceive us. 10 Likes |

How much does Ilorin contribute to the whole South West? Not Much! How much revenue does Ilorin make when compared to Ibadan, Akure, Lagos, Abeokuta.... again not much! I am very sure Eti Osa Local Government in Lagos makes 10 times more money than the city of Ilorin. Ilorin is NOT the financial or power house of the yorubas... IT NEVER WAS! Ilorin was just military town headed by Afonja. get it in your head 70% of Kwara is still yoruba. Ilorin is just a small city in Kwara! MrEverest: |

DFemaleBoss: But this is what kwakwanso said below. And olu falaes abductors were captured wtin 2weeks cos pressure was placed on d leaders & d IG. The IG made a sttmnt. Why is d IG not saying anything abt d SE. And who wouldnt say anything when his tribe is being badmouthed as killers all over d media. Even shekarau had a press conference wt olu falae to commisserate wt him. Are u guys playing daft? Shame on ffk, using tribalism to get pdp bk into power. Ibadan—FORMER Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso has taken exception to a call by some leaders from the South West for the exit of Fulani herdsmen from the zone saying the call was not in tandem with the spirit of unity that binds the nation together. The ex-governor said this in Ibadan at the official handing over of two newly-completed buildings to Government College, Ibadan, as part of activities marking the reunion of the Old Boys Association and jubilee celebration of the 1965 set of the school which held at the weekend. To him, the call was not well thought out and will be counter-productive. Some Yoruba leaders, a fortnight ago, had warned that if the hostility by the herdsmen was not checked, it would not be out of place to ask them to look elsewhere for the grazing of their cattle. Kwakwanso, who said lack of education, was the main reason why the herdsmen chose the option of cattle rearing, said: “We just have to have a lot of understanding of the situation. Sacking the Fulani Fulani-herdsman ‘’Some of the issues being raised by the people, especially politicians, will not help anybody. If you sack the Fulani from here or you fight them, maybe it is because you are here. If you are a Yoruba man based in Kano, I don’t think you can contemplate sacking the Fulani. “I am from Kano, but right now I am in Ibadan. Where you are is your home. Today, Ibadan is my home. God forbids, if something bad happens here, it will affect me. If it happens in my village, so far I am not there, they won’t see me,” he said. He further stated that the problem of Fulani herdsmen was not peculiar to the South West and even Nigeria. “The issue of conflict between farmers and Fulanis is not peculiar to the South West, or Nigeria but all over the regions. Education is very important here. If all Fulanis are given the opportunity to go to school, I don’t think they will waste their lives on their cattle going into the bush fighting themselves and even animals in so many places. I think the key thing is education. “If these Fulanis can be educated, things won’t be the same again. I am one of them, I am a Fulani and I hope you know that my parents settled over the years. My parents sent me to school and my children are going to school, I don’t think if I get some cattle, I will go into forest to rear them. That is education for you. ‘’The key thing here is that whether in the South or the North or Africa in general, we are all over, it is only that we call them Fulanis in this part of the world but in other places they call them different names, but we are all over the continent. These Fulanis should be educated and be settled, by that they will develop the modern way of keeping livestock. Animals roaming the streets “If you go to Britain, America and other developed countries, you don’t see animals roaming the streets. They have developed modern ways of doing this. But if you go to Niger, Cameroun, Nigeria, you will see Fulanis roaming about, endangering their lives. It is not good for anybody, the economy, not even security. That is for the future,” he stated. According to him; “It is important for government to provide reasonable facilities like grazing areas and other facilities so that we’ll be able to manage the situation. “In the North, we used to have lots of grazing areas, cattle parks, where they used to go without going into farms, but probably because of the population now and other issues, all these places are being taken over by farmers. ‘’Therefore, it becomes very difficult for anybody to go to those places without entering farms. ‘’This problem is not, however, peculiar to the South West, but let me say that we just have to have a lot of understanding of the situation.” PS - This is what d lagos govt just issued recently.: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/10/lagos-reads-riot-act-to-cattle-rearers-others/ Still nothing from d southeast. You guys are just talkers wt no action. When fight broke out in ekiti market between hausas and yorubas, fayose bundled them to d outskirts. Theres a difference btw useless talk for propaganda (which u engage in) & doing what needs to be done. The average yorubaman does not see a hausa as an enemy like u do. Hope u know dt. We dont have beer parlour conversations abt d sky falling & hausa oppression.: 1 Like |

Let me start by asserting my yorubaness, if there is any word like that, my username says a lot about who i am and if you prefer you can check my profile. Firstly i will like to point out that what dialogue has not achieved war can never never get it done. What Mr Kwankwaso suggested in his presentation is the best solution to the situation we have found ourselves today. I belong to a society (THE INNER CIRCLE) in my university days in ibadan and our creed is "by chance u are made brothers but by choice u make friends" we are here in this geographic entity Nigeria and it is our choice to make it work. Within a family there are several variations of the same genetic composition and hence no two individuals behave the same way. Can we then go ahead to do a forensic analysis of the peace or otherwise that exist within the family. The most apropriate answer is compromise. How this is then achieved can best be attributed to education. Let me take the issue of peace. The man has thru education both formal or otherwise realize that the other man is his other half and the best thing to do is to accept him with both flaws and otherwise. In the case of the other side of peace, thru education both formal or informal he has taken a stand that maybe detrimental to the society and that is his belief except something very concrete is done to correct this. Now going back to Mr Fani Kayodes fanning of war to correct the excess of the fulani cattle rearers, does 2 wrongs make a right, has war ever ever settle any dispute, please observe the recent uprising about Biafra. With war u only conquer people but you dont change thier passion and passion is like a festering wound it will be there for ever. Its quite easy to fan the embers of war on the pages of newspaper but the consequencies is more devastating than what one can ever thought of. Serving as a youth corper in old Imo state in 1990 the impact of 1966-1970 civil war was still very evident. Yoruba has a saying "eni ija oba lonperae lokurin" translated literarily means its you thst have not seen war that clamours for it. If i may ask where was Mr Fani Kayode during the civil war, i bet he was well tucked away safe inthe UK. What he is insinuating now, if paraventure happens, he has visas for family and most especially his beautiful girlfriend with wish he elopes to a safe haven. Who bears d brunt? We the defenseless citizen. Secondly, he made reference to chief Olu Falaes kidnap. I am so glad that the perpetrators have been arrested and they all attested to the greed that fanned thier criminal intentions. I want to ask are there no criminals worse than this from other part of the country? From tnier confession they never knew who thier abductee was. It was thier greed that propelled them to carry pitthier nefarious activity. Now let us critically asses the root cause of all this kidnapping, cultisim, armed robbrey etc. Is it not because of the unnessary flouting of wealth by people who are suppose to set good example. How can one explain the unsatiable splash of Range Rover sport by an elderly man who is above 50 on a girl that is less than 30. How do you expect her peers who has just graduated from schools to think. You can not ever ever sow maize qnd expect to reap cassave. What you have sown shall ye reap. Billions of naira pillfered away by our leaders Mr Kayode inclusive could so well have bought Nigerian youths education that can make us distinguish between right and wrong. Now coming to the fulani herdsmen problem, i will lay a substantial blame to thier leaders in the north who instead of giving them education has preferred to retain the almajiri culture, but can we the yorubas blame God for situating us in this entity called Nigeria. No, its not by our choice but what can we do? With education and understanding we can peacefully coexist. I watched a documentary about cattle rearing in kenya where the cattle are reared on barley planted on virtual soil. This may sound so difficult but is achieveable. I am so sure what mrkwankwso istalking about is education that will foster a peaceful coexistence of Nigerian 4 Likes |

Rayhut: Jesus Christ! How on earth will someone jsut cook up lies just because u hate a tribe and post it on nairaland jst because u want to say something? Bro, it's really bad o! I tot most of d comments here on nairaland ar primarily just for d sake of giving comment, y must u lie jsut to downgrade a tribe? It's really bad. In case u don't know, ask people who know. Yoruba pple are more dan the igbos in northern Nigeria. I served in d North, I av travelled almost all d northern states. Right from Kogi to Abuja to Niger to Kaduna to Kano to Gombe- sokoto and rest, there abound a large proportion of d yoruba pple dats why u see dem naming an area for dem places like Angwa Yorubawa, meaning abode of Yorubas, it's a common tin in d north and wit all sincerity, I avnt seen or heard Angwa Igbo in d north (mayb there is a name dey call dem, I don't know tho). Some Fulani herdsmen are menace in all part of d country. Go to Kaduna, benue, Niger, Kogi and oda places occupied by oda tribes and see how their farmlands and properties are constantly being destroyed by the Fulanis. Pls, u ar not going to b paid for commenting on nairaland, just minimise hw u lie just because u hate a particular tribe. By d way, who cares whether u like a tribe or not? All tribes flourish whether u hate or not! Ur opinion is minus 0.000000000000 wen it comes to the development of such tribe, u ar a nobody d tribe/tribes u hate are well known dan u and ur generation combined. Every tribe has got its own strength and weaknesses, I see no reason why u guys just come here to spit thrash. |

AreaFada2: Ur comments are inaccurate. Zik & Awo planned on working together before independence against d majority northerners. Zik betrayed awo during d elections by merging wt d north. In case u dont know awolowo hated northerners. Akintola hated igbos and liked northerners. Azikiwe became president & watched awo DRAGGED into prison. Im sure Awo came to his senses real quick. Azikiwe did d exact same thing to his northern partners by travelling on a prolonged meeting on dt fateful night in 1966. The scale fell from everyones eyes. Gowon released awo & made him finance minister. The other republic we had in nigeria, d north merged parties wt d SE again. Despite a massacre & a civil war. Shagari came into power. No southwesterner voted for him. Pls who is d slave? U think pple are blind & werent watching all this drama? When mko was anulled, all igbos ran from lagos while yorubas were rioting, nadeco was screaming & brave guys were facing ibb in d face of assasinations & imprisonment. They never kept quiet till IBB had to resign. Finally democracy came & obj was in power. Yorubas didnt like him but everyone heaved a sigh of relief & all d past became stories. This is a new dispensation where u play politricks to win. You have refused to join d game but to insult other tribes. Yorubas just entered this insult business wt u. Weve all bn going to d same churches & marrying each other all these yrs. If u insult yorubas for voting APC, they wont mind, or even call them hausa slave. Anyone dt has sense can see dt only two things brought out dis anger against igbos: calling lagos no mans land & dissing an oba. These are seen as sacrilegious & is d ONLY source of dis hate. Anything else dt is said is fuelled from dt. FACT! |
