The deal actually ends in 2016 and Nokia isn't making the phones. It's been contracted to another company, who will use the brand.

Microsoft acquired Nokia's devices and service plants (including staff) globally, so it's difficult for Nokia to just start manufacturing phones in full capacity.

However, I don't see Nokia making a decent "come back"..

What kind of gimmick can they pull off that we have not seen?

From Alcatel, Motorola, Nokia, and Samsung. These brands dominated the world in their prime and when they fell, it was a heavy fall. So don't put too much hopes on Nokia buddy smiley

Windows 10 mobile will be a flop.
6 years to come?
Ha!
Windows mobile would have been shut down by then.

For someone that claim to hold no bias against any OEM, the Op seemed pretty obsessed with the Samsung brand.

Unfair how? Weren't you the one that created a 'Versus ' thread, then deliberately went on to make Samsung the Antagonist. You even started the thread by deriding their 2014 flagship, the S5. It's not like Samsung's the only Android OS flagbearer. There are others, you know? Whatever happened to other premium brands like Sony (currently has the best android device in the market in the mold of Z5), LG and HTC?

Then, you later went on and make this comment, and I quote "From Alcatel, Motorola, Nokia, and Samsung. These brands dominated the world in their prime and when they fell, it was a heavy fall."

Notice the bold? Mehn... it's almost like you just couldn't help yourself. I mean, last time I checked, Samsung is still a global force to be reckoned with, no be so?

I certainly have no bias against any brand. Like I always say, I don't write based on emotions and assumptions, I write purely on facts.

Our articles are designed to be objective at best. I can't see where there is a "lie" in what you said above. It's no longer news that Samsung ship is sinking, losing 20% of sales forecast with the S5 is definitely a bad signal.

With more manufacturers making Android devices, there is more trouble ahead if Samsung can't get its Tizen OS to hit the mainstream.

I have written more articles against BlackBerry than Samsung and I have equally written to favor both brands. Why you are seeing this is simply because BlackBerry Priv is on the way and it would be the most secure mainstream smartphone ever to hit the planet. And of course, Samsung tried to steal the show by releasing a back-case cover that has a physical qwerty keyboard for its S6 Edge plus and Note 5. So far, that idea has been an embarrassing flop.

Bro, quit writing your rubbish articles. You claim samsung sales have dropped, yes it has dropped so it is for all Android OEMs but despite that Samsung still sells more than all major android OEMs combined, do you know what that means?

Apple is encountering the same thing at the moment, sales of iPhone 6s and 6s plus have dropped and not selling like its predessesor, does that mean Apple is also doomed. iPad pro ins't even selling cos it makes no sense buying a super sized iPad at that rate when you can easily get a full fledged OS hybrid in the name of Surface. The market is saturated and thats the fact

But you should cover your face in shame listing Samsung in the same line with these OEMs. Only if you know how big Samsung is then you would know you know nothing about technology. Regarding priv, John Chen said they made their phone to be as secured as devices running "KNOX" . What you seem not to know is that, priv would be hacked. This is Android, its open source and it has market share unlike BB.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are the fastest selling Apple products to date. The iPhone 5S & 5C sold 9-million units on day one. The iPhone 6 & 6 Plus sold 10-million on day one. The 6S and 6S Plus sold 13-million units on day one.

When I said Samung sales were plummeting, I didn't say that on my opinion. It's a fact and Samsung has had to lower their sales forecast in the last two fiscal year. Please take a seat!

Take a chill pill man. Stop quoting me out of context.

Yes, Samsung hasn't fallen, but it has reached its saturation point.

That's why I pointed out that if it can't find a way to go mainstream with its Tizen OS or do something different, very soon it won't have any bragging right since it doesn't control the OS. Google calls the shot. Unlike Apple and iOS.

Needles to say Samsung makes more revenue but Apple makes more profits?

I told you earlier you should quit talking tech cos you know nothing, or should i just say you hate Samsung and other OEMs.
Here is a link regarding the slow sales of the recent iPhones 6s

http://uk.businessinsider.com/iphone-6s-sales-disappointing-pacific-crest-2015-10

The recent iPhones didn't sell those units in a day but 3 days. Samsung sales has gone down so it is for other OEMs. The market is saturated, some OEMs even sell at a loss or actual price and gain from services they offer (LeTV and Xiaomi). You should be the one to take a seat

Now, here is what Wall Street is saying and lets see how it's contradicts what's in your link.

Apple announces fourth-quarter results Tuesday, and with the stats, the company will say how many iPhones sold in the quarter. Wall Street expects sales of 48 million to 49 million, which would greatly top last year’s shipment of 39 million iPhone 6 models in its first quarter. It's expected to make $1.88 a share on sales of $51.1 billion, according to analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/10/26/how-many-iphones-did-apple-sell/74633802/

However, let it be clear, that I was reacting to a claim that Apple's sales are down like that of Samsung, which of course is a fallacy.

This is a more recent report from 5-hrs ago.. from the BBC...

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-34653638

You can also play with this link
http://blogs.marketwatch.com/thetell/2015/10/27/live-blog-apple-earnings-expected-to-show-strong-iphone-6s-sales/

Relying on an "un-official" data from Pacific Crest, really shows the seat can only be yours.

The failure of Samsung to meet sales expectation with the Galaxy S5 sent a negative signal, forcing Samsung to re-invent itself with the S6 Edge, an innovative device having two curved edge at both sides of the display. Although, this didn’t prevent Xiaomi from trouncing Samsung in China.

Samsung has already surrendered to OEM’s offering smartphones made from cheap internal components targeted at emerging markets. Now, BlackBerry looks like it’s going to give Samsung the final blow that will force it to drop a large chunk of its global dominance.

Xiaomi offers cheap smartphones as an alternative to Samsung phones, Apple matches Samsung with its highly specced iPhones while BlackBerry is set to “snatch” users who care so much about their privacy.

Fortunately, there are tens of millions of users who now consider privacy a big issue when it comes to interaction with mobile phones. This is where BlackBerry will lead a mobile onslaught on Samsung, and try to reclaim its lost glory.

Security
BlackBerry Priv will do everything that Samsung flagships does including the introduction of a new design element, an external qwerty keyboard and access to millions of apps on Google Play which plagued the fantastic BlackBerry OS 10.

The biggest talking point is that BlackBerry is going to offer its secure and manageable Priv on Android using its new BES12 device management system. This is simply a union between the most flexible OS and the most secure OS. Android is robust and flexible while BlackBerry OS 10 is the most secured OS to date.

BlackBerry’s success has been tied to a solid encryption. It is also said that its failure has been based on “too much” encryption. In 2014, former NSA lawyer Stewart Baker maintained that BlackBerry killed its self because of its rigid encryption policy. Baker also warned that Apple and Google could end up like BlackBerry if they continued their privacy encryption.

However, users have become more aware of how important it is to keep a tab on their privacy following a leaked document by former NSA contractor Edward J. Snowden, which exposed details of NSA surveillance programs to the press in 2013.

More Security

BlackBerry Priv will be totally different from Samsung flagships. If you are thinking you are going to flash the Priv by simply rooting the device, that’s going to be an exercise in futility. That will never happen! There won’t be easy access like every other droid device out there in the wild. The Priv comes with a verified Boot and Secure Bootchain ensuring that its dedicated embedded keys distinctively verifies every layer of the smartphone; hardware and OS to ensure they have not been compromised.

Literally, your data on the BlackBerry Priv is secure and locked down in a fortified defensive structure, a fortress!

Even More Security
BlackBerry Prvi also comes with FIPS 140-2 compliant full disk encryption and DTEK, raising its security to levels of previously unseen height.

DTEK is an in-Built BlackBerry app that helps you see which personal data is accessed by apps, how secure it is based on password strength, encryption settings and more.

BlackBerry has large following; fans who dumped the brand for droid devices might finally have a reason to switch camps. Clearly, BlackBerry’s first attempt with Android is a big deal.

However, this doesn’t mean BlackBerry has pulled the plug on its BB10 OS, but it does sends a strong message to every smartphone manufacturer, especially Samsung who recently “stole” the Priv’s physical keyboard idea on its S6 Edge Plus, that it’s not going to be business as usual. It is certainly going to be a bumpy ride.

@Techrez am not sure if you composed this by your sekf or you culled it off frm somwia wither ways am dissapointed with your expectatios that the blacberry would disodge the samsung just because of the blacbery priv..you are totay wrong

first things first, you shls realise that blacberry came late to thw party.anyone planin on buyin this phone at the very expensive lauch price shld not be disspointed if after 6 months the phone would be sold for half less the price.why?with the same mistake blackberry made with the z10 releasing it a year late, they made the exact same mistake here again, this specs of this said phone are so last year/early 2015.this phone plans to launch by nov/dec,nigerians shld expect it by late december/jan by then oems would be planing new flagships already so with these specs am so sorry this phone wont even affect samsung phone sales at all,as we know we customers aint loyal.we want the latest specs

Second:this phone is lauching with android 5.1.1 which we know the new android marshmallow is out already.yes i knoit would recieve updates to android M but blacberry shld hav chilled and lauched this device with the latest android os,and specs that can stand tru out the cause of next year so as to mk buyers want to buy and at least stay loyal..i could go on and on but it would seem like am ranting

My point is that this particular device cant dislodge samsung in anyway, yes it boasts of topnotch security but it is not the life saver blackberrybis hoping it would be
