Thanks sweetheart. I see such errors daily on social media, sometimes I correct them, other times I ignore them. Some people don't know how to take in corrections so you just let them be. I make mistakes too and appreciate it when I'm corrected.
I believe we will get there, the nursery and primary school teachers have a lot of work to do but it will surely be done. Have you noticed the number of homes today where parents are speaking correct English with their children? Even parents who are not educated. I listen to my hair stylist as she communicates with her children and even though the tenses are wrong, I love what she is doing and commend her effort.

So, victory is on the way!

Hope I'm not reading you reading right? YOU ARE HAPPY YOUR CULTURE AND MOTHER TONGUE ARE UNDER ASSAULT! Are you normal?

How many Chineses, Indians, Korean etc have good command of english.

English is the problem that is hindering the rapidly development of the nation. I made bold to tell you, go computer village and other numerous vocational centers all over the country, you will be shock at the level of what the so-called illiterates are doing without good command of english. Many graduates can't even format and install simple app on their smart-phone talk more to doing so on pc!

We placed too much emphasis on paper, even more than white people do!

Chai! Why have you chosen to misunderstand me nna? This is Nigeria where English is officially our Lingua Franca. If you grew up under the same roof with me you would have understood clearly what I mean, your inability to communicate correctly in English was a no-no, simply unacceptable!
Whether or not Chinese, Koreans and Indians don't speak correct English shouldn't be our concern. they can't speak but can format and install apps, Nigerians can't speak English and can't install apps, now should we applaud ourselves?

Mehn! Let's get it right, there is no assault whatsoever. No law says if you can speak your mother tongue fluently then you are exempted from speaking english correctly. Therefore, speak them all and give the British a run for their money.

Moreso, 80% of the corpers spell "CORPER" as "COPPER". . That was my survey during service.

And, really, there isn't a word such as "corper". It should read "corp member".

When a supposed school graduate especially those harrasing Polytechnic students/graduates can't even string up a proper sentence undecided

Moreover, Why write "Yhu" when you can easily write "You "? Why write "tanks" instead of "thanks"? lipsrsealed

Some will say it's not our language, as if that's an excuse ..

corper

Definition
corper rate
(Noun) It’s the popular word used to refer to Nigerian youths during the course of their mandatory, one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

It's a merger of the two words in the term ‘corps member’, where the first four and last two letters are retained, with the ‘p’ in corps regaining its sound.

Pardon me, got your points, would agree with me that using our mother tongue would have been more better? There is no doubt about the benefits of mastering english cos it's the international medium of communication but. But making official lingua, while relegating our own to the background at homes, schools, and facets of the society is a serious hinderance in match to industrial, technology and innovation self-reliance.

Those who are fluent in command of english should commend and those not so good should be condem as long as they can prove themselve knowledgeable in their area of expertise! Thank oyinbo no be my papa and mama tongue cos even americo and brico dey fumble too online.
Have a nice weekend!

OP remove the beam in your eye before looking for log in another persons eye! There is nothing like corper in any standard dictionary!
Re: Chai!Nigerian Graduate Indeed (PICS) by Seventeen(f): 11:59am On Oct 31, 2015
Guyz... Guyz, haba, he probably dint re-read what he typed. He probably meant to write
I am now at camp, Thank u God, he just missed the T in 'at' and added S to his 'thank'. These things happen naa, even as am reading our own comments i hv spotted so many typo errors as well.
Meanwhile... Even if he actually doesnt know hw to write or speak English properly, asking if he is employable cos of bad grammer is very funny, because we all know how it is naija, gettin a job has largely nothing to do with ur command of English.... Some gradutes with good jobs cant write English well, some who can speak and write it excellently are still carrying their worn out files around. We all know that its either u are one of d few lucky ones who get employed on merit or u are one of d many with long legs.... God will help us.
