bigm101: Is your School part of SVP? Yes? - Bank statement and/or sponsorship letter won't be required, except in special cases where they might ask for it. Write a convincing SOP to make sure this doesn't happen. No? - You might want to refer to the Teleperformance checklist on the type of accounts that are acceptable. I've posted a screenshot below for guidance. Pay attention to the highlighted part. You can also try and ask Teleperformance about it. #HopeThisHelps 1 Like

Hi, Thank you so much for the quick response . I'm so grateful. And Yes my school is part of SVP but no, my intended course is not part of SVP. So, I am going to be accessed on assessment level 3. I quite comprehend everything you said but it seems you didn't get my question right . I will rephrase it . Now, the question is , I'm using a coperative union bank statement and my uncle is the president . In the letter of sponsor , what reason can I state inside that , makes me connected with the coperative and why they wan to sponsor me ? That's the question I need answer for . Like , if there are cases like that where someone used coperative union account |

Wow! Okay, for the last time.. Coperative union society are like group of people that comes together like a club or something , they contribute money together and lend every members. My uncle is the president . He's my sponsor but he's using the coperative union society account . Now, what kind of relationship can I write in the letter that connects me to the society on why they want to sponsor me .. E.g, like scholarship or something . Do you have any experience like this , please ? 2posh: |

Hello 2Posh and everyone else , in the form 157A ,Question 46? How will you access your funds in Australia ? Please, what's the answer ? Thanks |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chi50(f): 11:22pm On Nov 01, 2015 |
bigm101:My dear since u are Al3, u have to be very careful in ur sponsor matters. You must provide evidence of relationship to ur uncle. As for d letter from the cooperative, na long thing oh because I think cooperatives can only give loans, and not just sponsor u. so I think ur uncle will have to write a personal letter or declaration of sponsorship first. then an official letter from d cooperative giving their consent, and I think all members might have to sign. my 2cents though Also, u need to know that AL3 takes almost 3months so u need to be time conscious now because ur school resumes in Feb. Best of luck |

ugonology: I know Geologist is on the CSOL list, which means you can either be sponsored by a state, regional area, employer or family. The first thing however is to determine if your occupation cum your qualification will receive positive assessment. How many years did you spend in the University? If you did a 4-year degree, you won't get positive assessment from VETASSES because they equate Nigerian 4-year degree to Australian 3years Associate Degree which is less than the minimum requirement for Geology here.. However, if you did a 5-year degree, then you will get positive assessment. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by bellong: 2:12am On Nov 02, 2015 |
NNBB2012: He can get a positive assessment depending on where he studied his geology. OAU is a four year geology degree and I got a positive assessment. I think they have some selected universities that they treat their four year degree to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 5:39am On Nov 02, 2015 |
bellong: That's great news! Did you also add additional qualification or just your 1st Degree? I know of someone that did Geology from Uni Benin that got negative assessment etc. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by 2posh: 5:57am On Nov 02, 2015 |
bigm101: Well, how are you planning to access the funds when you are in Australia? Start with a truthful answer to the question as the core information before you embellish it if you must. Is it a Scholarship? How do they plan to award it - will they be paying your Tuition by themselves or they'll give you the money? Can you provide evidence/details of the Scholarship?(why they are awarding it, why you were picked, amount involved etc). What about living expenses? Who/what covers that part and how? - another evidence. *You should probably be careful with how you mention your Uncle as the President. That should not be the major relationship/connection you have with the co-operative you portray(my opinion), before they think your Uncle is embezzling funds or tipped the Scholarship scale in your favour or something. #JustSaying Is it a loan? You'll probably need to show that you've acquired the loan already(please read the Teleperformance checklist I called your attention to before). You may want to have your Uncle take the loan out (if you are going the loan route) and deposit it in his personal account or your account and explain that in the letter and/or SOP. Pray tell, why is your School on SVP and your course is not? 1 Like |

2posh:His school being svp is not a guarantee that he's eligible 4 svp. his course must be a bachelor's or a higher degree like masters n PhD to qualify. he/she is going for vet course which is not svp. my concern is d timing. he needs to sort out his finances as soon as possible because of the 3months Al3 thingy. I second ur suggestion abt taking d loan n depositing it But that's also late now because the deposit must be 4 atleast 3 months. So add that to d visa waiting time and you'll get my point. I honestly wish I had a better straight forward advice 4 him, But I dnt. It's time 4 our gurus in d house to help him. @lawland, futuredon, etc. |

Hi, Thank you. I understand you now. Maybe, o will just use my Aunt's bank account and she can stand as my sponsor . But , the question I am still asking stated in the form 157A, " how are you planning to access your funds in Australia"? Should I say " through my Aunt? Since she's my sponsor ? I don't understand the answer to the question. Or can I just say " bank transfer "? Please., help me out there . I'm planning to submit my application this week 2posh: |

Hello bigm101, if your course is not under svp, your sponsor must be a close relative. Note: An eligible close relative for Australian student visa includes: the applicant's partner the applicant's parents the applicant's grandparents the applicant's brothers or sisters an uncle or aunt of the applicant who is: an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and usually resident in Australia. All the best. bigm101: 1 Like |

(except you are 50+ ) Probably u were referring to the period he was away on extended leave. He's my grand uncle by the way (if there's any such thing). All the best bro. |

Good afternoon fellow contributors, please what is the fastest way to check if a school or programme is under SVP? I have applied to Uni of Queensland for Masters in Public Health Program (SVP - 1.5years), and I'm considering another application to another school for the same course in order to boost admission chances. I want a programme of 1.5 (or 2 years preferably), and the school has to be under SVP. Anyone who has such schools that meet my criteria can help me post them biko. Deakin's MPH degree is 2 years, but I'm not sure if they are under SVP. Thank you again and again! |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by bhanjjie: 3:47pm On Nov 02, 2015 |
True talk my guy. Because the more complicated the issue appears before the visa officer, the lesser the chances of getting the visa. I think I also recommend 2posh's suggestions and idea. 2posh: |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by 2posh: 4:10pm On Nov 02, 2015 |
bhanjjie: Google dear, Google. Anyhoo, follow this link... https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/573-/Higher-Education-Sector-visa-(subclass-573)-streamlined-visa-processing (It will take you to the SVP page on the DIBP website) On that page, click the 'Eligibility' tab then click on/expand the 'Students' tab and read up(you'll find criteria and info on how to identify SVP Schools and Courses). Also on that page, you'll see a hyperlink that will take you to the list of participating schools. Below is the link as well... https://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2015L01275 ***By the way, if you are expecting your education in Australia to count towards PR points, you DEFINITELY need at least 2 years of study. Hence, the 1.5 of UQ won't cut it. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Thanks brother. I was just on "Google" when i read your response. I have found few schools, I am currently reviewing their costs - pocket also matters you know :-). I understand I need at least two years of study. I intend taking a certificate programme that will last for one term (6 months) upon completion of the masters programme. Thank you brother! I appreciate you. 2posh: |

lolllllllllll!!!!:-D I have all I need from the page you sent in - thanks again! Funny enough, i visited the page once, but didnt scroll down *covers face*. Deakin may be my best option. Do you know how much deposit will be required for eCoE? Uni Queensland is just 8k, which makes sense. Thanks again!!! 2posh: |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by 2posh: 4:40pm On Nov 02, 2015 |
bhanjjie: I don't know about Deakin. But it's best to assume that each School will ask you to pay first semester Tuition + OSHC to cover the full length of the program(unless you indicate that you want to arrange OSHC by yourself) before they issue COE. I'm saying this based on my experience with QUT (You might want to check them out as well). So, don't make your financial plans based on only the Tuition. Have you considered regional areas? The Schools there tend to be cheaper, plus you get more points(5 I think) for schooling there(again, this is if your long term goal is PR). Some regions are also known to put students that schooled in the area first when it comes to nomination. The only thing is that if you eventually want to go to that region, they have their own criteria too. To know the places categorized as regional areas...google is your friend Hope this helps. 1 Like |
