IlekeHD:Arrogant display of sophisticated and selective amnesia... Prominent Igbos like Alex Ekwueme helped in creating SS and he proposed more revenues for oil producing states.. Northerners and co called him tribalist/seccesionist. Igbo Senate President and Igbo NASS members, all voted for NDDC and 13% derivation bill-- most northerners opposed. Igbo govs sided with ND states when 19 northern govs sued ND and FG asking the supreme to nullify NDDC Bill..check out offshore and onshore dichotomy.. Same folks who don't want u to keep what belongs to u are the same folks telling u that Igbos want to steal ur oil.. Even a 1-yr child knows who wants to steal his/her toys... 9 Likes |

Imo Govt discovers more crude oil
March 14, 2014 at 12:20 pm in News
Facebook Twitter SMS WhatsApp
Owerri – The Imo Government said it
discovered crude oil in some local
government areas, and urged the Federal
Government to inspect the sites for possible
exploration.
The Managing Director of Imo State Oil
Producing Area Development Commission
(ISOPADEC), Dr Henry Okoro, revealed this in
an interview in Owerri on Friday.
Okoro said the areas are Oru East and West,
Ngor-Opkala and Obowo Local Government.
He said if the oil discovered was utilised, it
would afford the state an opportunity of
becoming a front runner among the oil
producing states in the country.
“We have enough raw materials here in Imo
which is capable of increasing the Internally
Generated Revenue of the nation.
“The Federal Government should come now
and inspect these areas for possible
exploration, because I know that a lot of oil
companies will want to invest,’’ he said.
The managing director said the commission
had no powers to begin exploration in the
areas, and stressed the need for the Federal
Government to act fast.
Imo is one of the oil producing states in the
country with oil being drilled from Ohaji/
Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas.
Okoro said that the recent discovery would
also fast track Federal Government’s
presence as well as boost development of
the state.
He also noted that about 3,000 youths from
the state had been empowered through the
“Youth Empowerment Trust Fund’’ an
initiative of the state government.
According to him, ISOPADEC has intensified
plans to partner with some American
experts to train youths on mechanised
farming system.
Okoro promised that the commission would
continue to roll out empowerment
programmes both for the youth and
women in the state.
He said the commission had also
commenced the construction of an
International Marine University, adding that
it would soon be completed.
This, the managing director said, would go a
long way in providing education for the
youth in the area. (NAN) |

In this thread, I noticed that the Igbos believe great injustice has been done to them as regards 'their' oil fields in the post civil war era. This might be true, or not. But if this is true, I think it will be because the Nigerian government is being cautious that there might be another rebellion and they quickly made some adjustments. And now, there's another rebellion for secession. As much as I want a tribe to be free and self-determined, I will advice my Igbo friends to do this non-violently, ask for a referendum, I'm sure most Igbos will vote 'Yes' and you'll win this way. Because, if the violent way fails, I believe more woes will come to the igbos from the Nigerian Government. All what you are complaining about now will be minute to what they will likely do to you. In war, you should consider scenerios your successes and defeats. Just an advice from a friend. 1 Like |

Going by your logic, Nigeria has its citizens in every country of the world, how come Nigeria is not as developed as China ? Abagworo: Your proposal is the best if we are to consider national interest but state and ethnic interest will never allow this to happen. In fact, the onshore/offshore dichotomy bill was a major point of campaign in the 2003 presidential election. If we go by your advice, a state like Akwa Ibom will immediately cease to be an oil producing state just like Cross River. They will never allow this to happen. |
Re: Oil Producing states In Nigeria - The Facts and Figures by scholes0(m): 8:48am On Nov 03, 2015 |
seunmsg: Exactly, states like Akwa Ibom produce more than 95% if not all of their production from offshore oil fields. So, in actuality, they don't really have any "oil producing communities" in the conventional sense of the term, except they have communities deep inside the ocean, lol. I however think proceeds from these fields rightly belong to them, as it is in their state's territorial waters. Shebi Nigeria is a federation of states. 6 Likes 1 Share |

kettykin: You people are shameless concoctionists who can lie for Africa. You will stop at nothing in shoving your stupid agenda down everyone's throats. In case you don't know, Nigeria's first oil was actually discovered in Ondo state in a place called Araromi, not Oloibiri in Bayelsa. Bitumen Corporation (a German company) was the first company to explore crude oil in Nigeria as far back as 1908 when traces of it was found at Araromi in the present Ondo state. This pioneering exploration was brief due to the World War 1 (1914 – 1918). But, in 1937 Shell started exploratory activities after been awarded the sole concession rights that covered the whole territory of Nigeria.http://nigeriadaily..ca/2009/10/crude-oil-crisis-in-nigeria.html So, tell me how the rubbish you posted above there is true, when Ondo has always been an old poil producing state, though not on the same levels as the big players such as Akwa Ibom and Delta. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Macelliot: Where do you Ibos get all these nonsense statistics from? You should get some education about revenue generation laws in Nigeria before displaying your ignorance publicly. Lagos state does not generate majority of it internal revenue from seaports, markets and entertainment. All the ports in Lagos are operated by the federal government and the Nigeria customs service is in charge of administering the duties charged on importation and exportation. State governments have nothing to do with with levelling taxes on imported and exported products. States are only allowed majorly to administer personal income tax, capital gains tax (individual), registration of business premises etc. And your argument about Lagos state generating huge revenues from markets and entertainment is very funny. Those traders pay little or nothing as taxes to the state government. Their contributions is very insignificant when you look at the average monthly revenue generated by Lagos state. 18 Likes 1 Share |

I remembered when the Gov. of Nasarawa said that Igbos contribute massive IGR into the state coffer. He never mentioned yoruba.. Going by your logic, Nigeria has its citizens in every country of the world, how come Nigeria is not as developed as China ?Tribalism, Injustice.. A house that is not unite, will dwindle... And to think that you cannot use ccommon sense to differentiate between migration as result of economic, social, environmental hardship to migration as a result of sharing expertise or expanding your businesses..Igbos businessmen are doing the second option you gave... Hownmany Chinese have you seen selling gala or pirated CD on the street on Lagos just to build China ? ...You are so naive! Have you ever heard of "Chinko"?.. Brown roofs are still present in alaibo. plus you people don't have enough land, hence the destruction on the old settlements to build new houses that would have served has tourist attraction or for business....Yorubas are yet to adapt to modernization.. If not for Igbos and the present of Lagos in SW. The SW region would have been good as the North East... We have old settlements and our new settlement still beat all of alaibo hands down..Hahahaha! Joke of the century... Ebonyi state(least in SE) has more modern buildings than Oyo state... (sorry, Igbos don't do media propaganda).. How much are nnewei , aba or innoson contributing to the GDP? The last time I checked, 85% of non oil revenue comes from south west ..Out of the 85% non-oil revenue.. Lagos state alone is about 80% out of 85%.. Out of the 80% from Lagos state, 77% is from Seaport and Tax(markets)... Now ask yourself, who the most users of lagos port is? And who Owns all the Largest Markets in Lagos?... (truth is bitter... The rest of the rants ... do not deserve response ..its the usual chest beating lies from a typical Igbo ..The Largest Oil well in Nigeria is in Afam, Obigbo LGA in Rivers state. They are 100% Igbo people.. The criminality FG secceed Obigbo which is formerly in Abia state into Rivers state... Just to make sure that SE states are left out... (INJUSTICE in Nigeria)... scholes0: I agree that the states should get some proceeds but it should be limited to resources in the territorial sea. At best, obasanjos initial 24 nautical miles proposal should be adopted. The present situation where litoral states are getting revenues from resources found in the exclusive economic zones of up to 200 nautical miles and up to the continental shelf is just unfair to other parts of the country. Even in international laws, the activities of littoral states/ regions are always limited to 12 nautical miles. The onshore/offshore dichotomy act is a serious mistake that was ignorantly passed by Na'abba and his colleagues back in 2003. 1 Like |

Have you taken care of yourself before bragging about accommodating and feeding someone else who's better of than you? Lagos Set To Join Oil Producing States As Production Begins This Year Drilling has started on the Aje 5 production well in Aje field offshore Nigeria, paving the way for first oil on the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel development. http://www.oilvoice.com/n/MX-Oil-commences-drilling-Aje-5-Well-in-offshore-Nigeria/7eded69d7c8d.aspx https://idahosaejalen./2015/07/19/mx-oil-acquired-stakes-in-aje-field-offshore-nigeria/ If Production from Aje alone can reach 19,000 barrels per day as planned, then Lagos will displace Imo state into 8th largest oil producer and sit at 7th spot, from just one oilfield.
