This statement by DSS is a response to alleged siege of residence of Ex- NSA Sambo Dasuki by security operative today. PRNigeria
DSS PRESS RELEASE
1. The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been brought to the report making rounds that its operatives illegally blocked the residence of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo DASUKI (Col/Rtd), in violation of a subsisting court order granting him a relief to travel oversea for medical services. This is to say the least that such report is not only unfounded and malicious but aimed at tarnishing the good image of the Service.
2. It may be recalled that SAMBO was initially arrested and charged to court for unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering, for which reason his international passport was seized and on the order of the court, returned to the registrar for custody. What has however brought the seeming standoff between SAMBO and the Service, despite the court-ordered release of his international passport on 4th November, 2015, is his refusal to appear before a Committee undertaking the investigation of an entirely different case.
3. The public may wish to note that the government set up the Committee to investigate procurement processes relating to a two billion dollar ($2billion) arms transaction by the last administration, under which SAMBO was the NSA. It was on this premise that he was invited by the Committee to shed more light on his involvement in the deal. It, therefore, remains surprising and shocking that SAMBO has refused to honour invitations of the Committee but instead resorts to grandstanding and subtle blackmail of the Service. His refusal to appear before the Committee has left the Service with no option than to adopt legal means to ensure his attendance.
4. Therefore, without doubt, SAMBO is pulling all strings available to him to evade justice and put the Service in bad light. The simple fact is that the DSS is not persecuting him. Nigerians are therefore enjoined to disregard the impression being created by him. This Service wishes to re-emphasise its commitment to the rule of law and strict adherence to democratic ideals. However, any person or group, no matter how highly placed, that may wish to test the will of the present democratic dispensation, will definitely be checked through the legal provisions of the law.

anyway, waiting for his refutal otherwise he should go clear his name.
When you consider the role he played in the 6 weeks postponement of the election, you can't but agree that is is pure witch hunting but as i said, if he is guilty he should face the music. Even if the cleansing affects more of the opposition and GEJ core men, they are still Nigerians. Though i pray that there should be no partiality/partisan sentiments in the fight against corruption.

This is clearly impunity on the part of DSS. Dasuki was to proceeded overseas for medical check up hence the court granted the release of his passport Why would the DSS not allow him return from his trip before attacking him again. If Buhari send this goat of a DSS boss a messenger message can't he use his sense at least for once.?

It's obvious Dasuki if ever allowed to step out of these shores wud not bother coming back.

So the DSS waited until the court ordered the release of his passport before they knew he was invited for questioning!!! How dumb!!

Y'all should be careful what you say and wish for other people. It is amazing how GEJ's led PDP government was crucified on any perceived injustice or its over reaching arm. Only for the same tactic to be applauded in another dispensation. Just like Mogidi put it, applaud this till the same fate befalls a member of your family or even you. In Africa, a democratic President has enormous powers that must be checked by other arms of government.

This is not the military era.

Why wait till his passport was released for a medical trip before hounding him? Why didn't the DSS go before a judge to get an injunction compelling him to appear before the committee? Why plot his arrest at the airport or hound him?

And someone ignorantly said on the thread that he won't return if allowed to travel. Which Dasuki? The Sokoto Prince? Leave all his family and investments and run away? That sounds absurd, even to a foolish person.

The U.K will arrest, charge to court and inprison anyone who has stolen government money. Inshort, they might even reparate the individual. It's even worst over there because you cannot lobby or buy your way out of it. The DSS has no excuse!

So funny a statement. Is it now the work of the DSS to ensure his appearance b4 a committee when we have the NPF? If the commission of inquiry has any legal backing, why not get a judge to issue a bench warrant so it could be termed legal. I'm not in support of the former NSA but this is 2015 and this must be done the right way. God bless Nigeria
