You made a costly mistake. Next time, click on your posts, edit any old post of yours and paste your bars. When you are satisfied with the way your bar were penned, you remove it and re-edit your old post back to its original state. That way, no one will read your bars before time.

Personals should be 2pts if not 3pts. It carries more weight just as punchlines. A battle verse gets more interesting with bars that are tailored specifically for an opponent. Not some random punches.

How on earth did personals have more importance in Hip-Hop than wordplays/similes or rhymes ?
It's only on nl it is judged seperately. .even RG have upgraded & included it among the punchlines

And there's no such thing as random punches so long as the name of whoever you brawling is included in the lines. Or you make use of nameflips. ..
How about storytelling or Imagery? All these should even weigh more as they are more difficult to do
One of the best battle verses I have seen here is from streetwize. ..& they were straight punches[Bigg K style]hardly any personals.. Does that mean they were random? ..of course not

The most creative form of personals are nameflips.
Digging up known flaws or reciting what the public already knows does not make it a legit personal.. The person is only stating the obvious...Unless he makes a really ill simile or wordplay with it..
Only a few here do that well. .the rest of the pack just rhyme things people already know about the person without a substantial punch & people gas it up.....eg giyäzz vs darkrebel-It was all wickity wack shït...In order words it's fillers.

These are short personals with sharp stings,& they didn't go beyond one or two quatrains.. .

On the points awarded to the personal criteria, from my first brawl, to the time it was scrapped and reinstated during Coog vs Ely's battle, to the battles I've read/judged, it used to be 1 point. This is one of the reason rules about these stuffs should be made sacrosanct to avoid misunderstanding of them.

Well, this misunderstanding is coz of the lack of sacrosanct rules and the implementing of it. About people over-hyping it, I don't think they are over-hyping it, just that when personals are used to devastating effect, it creates some comic effect and acts as a punchline. But if it'd be scrapped, the majority of battlers should vote in favor of it.
