Olalekan Adetayo President Muhammadu Buhari has said that in spite of the country’s economic challenges, the Federal Government will pay genuine outstanding debts owed contractors. The President spoke on Friday while meeting with the Board of Directors of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc., led by Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu. He said the government would remove all impediments to the fulfillment of its promise to provide jobs for unemployed Nigerians. He also directed the Ministries of Works and Lands, Housing and Urban Development to prepare and present for approval and implementation a plan of action for the speedy revitalisation and expansion of the nation’s vocational training centres. According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President gave the directive after being told at the meeting that many construction companies were forced to bring in skilled workers from abroad because of shortage of competent construction workers and artisans in the country. Buhari was quoted as saying that the practice was detrimental to his administration’s commitment to boost employment opportunities for young Nigerians. While demanding a report on the current status of existing vocational training centres established by the Federal Government, Buhari said his administration would reposition them as efficient producers of skilled workers for the building and construction industry. amnesty7: Naah, am sure I voted for u!  that am not as sentimental as u are doesn't mean I didn't knw the person I voted for! The truth is...am not a party supporter, I only wish for someone that will govern and take this nation to the promise land we so desire. But I guess our problem is actually not the leaders but the gullible and sentimental citizens! Listen young man, when a government is not performing to your expectation, Patriotism demands that u keep the administration in check! Let's join forces to make sure they are not comfortable when they under-perform! Remember, the media/internet is a powerful tool, it is what took the current administration to where they are right now which means we can also use it to our own advantage and use it against any government that won't perform. Don't just comment on any Buhari/Apc news cos u like their names or because u support APC, Nigeria is not a football world where u are either a die hard manutd or Arsenal fan! It is our future, nigeria is our destiny, it is our homeland! Speak out when a govt is not performing up to our expectation! Stop being sentimental about everything! Stop APCing/Buharing away ur future! I hate slow and steady when it comes to leadership, a leader should be fast and full of actions! |

The few remaining foreign investors will be all gone by mid next year. Buhari seem to be racing against time to wreck Nigeria. What does Buhari mean by genuine? Genuine by APC standards means pro-APC contractors approved by Elrufai and oshiomole. What happens to contractors with evidence of work done but not considered genuine by APC's standards? Wont it be right if he pays contractors with clear evidence and verifiable work done? Statements like these clearly scare even the genuine investors as the definition of genuineness can be very subjective. Why did it have to take Buhari 6 months to start considering payment for services rendered by contractors? Buhari's govt is a joke |

If truly you're patriotic as you sound, then you should have known when, where and how to critise your leader instead of engaging in needless & senseless criticism that paint you only as irrational critique. So you mean in your assessment, there's no need to analyze and make statement of intent about a situation? Although our levels of patience are not the same, it is rational to analyze situations before making an affirmative conclusions. |

Aufbauh: Really? Am not disputing ur opinion of patience being avirtue, the point is...some situation calls for ugency...this is a national and not family issue! When ur ruling your family you can call for as much patience as u wish but not whne ur ruling a nation and not just any nation...its Nigeria we are talking about here! Permit me to ask u sir, its been how many months now? 6? Yea? as much as I don't want to criticize this present administration, am still finding it difficult to point to one notable achievement from them so far! Delay is dangerous when it comes to national ish! Am not being biase am just keeping them in check and we should all learn to do that too....else we will only keep shouting slow and steady, patienece is virtue till we realise its 4years of no accomplishment already! |
