Though I supported Fashola when he deported the miscreants. However, you can't deport folks living in the same country.

Can you get miscreants with no fixed address off the roads, to their relatives wherever they're, so as to stop them from creating nuisance? - absolutely.

But can you do a mass deportation of folks within the same country, when they have a fixed address? - hell no. It's illegal and somewhat xenophobic.

And how are you going to deport over 10 million people cos the total population of Lagos shouldn't be more than 10 million and it's already over 21 million?

They just have to find a way somewhere and somehow to depopulate the place. That should be their primary objective. Just take a look at all the infrastructures Fashola commissioned. I bet the overwhelming majority of them are in ruins now. That's the curse that comes with population explosion.
Aareonakakanfo:

Maaaan its not that easy, trust me.In Nigeria everything is viewed through tribal lenses. When Fashola deported romanis to their caves, we all saw what happened despite the fact that some Yorubas were also deported to Osun state. For now i don't think anything can be done to reduce Lagos population.Like i said earlier, the mentality of the romanis regarding Lagos needs to be changed to start with, there's too much ignorance in that part of the country. The only solution is bi-ass-fra and that'll only reduce it a little bit.It still doesn't mean the romanis won't continue trooping in to their "Mecca"

I agree with you both. When Nigeria divides, deportation in Odu'a will be legal.

Lol@ their mecca. These folks have always have a huge population. Only God knows why they make kids like rats, yet they blame Northerners for having too many kids, when they're the ones who always have too many kids. Shouldn't folks with a landmass as small as Igboland be at the forefront of family planning?

If Aro could sell millions of them as slaves from the 17th century to the 19th century, you should know these folks have always had population explosion in their tiny part of the country. Just take a look at how they trooped out of there and overpopulated the whole of Nigeria, after the colonists unleashed them from their region on the rest of Nigeria. grin

In a separate country, they'll always need a visa and it will be easy for the government to maintain/control population growth with different policies.

Anyway, this isn't just about Lagos - it's about the rest of the SW. If Lagos can effect proper depopulation policies - it will spread developments to other states in the SW.

Lagos is the one sucking the development from the SW. The Bermuda Triangle. I'm not being pro-Lagos here, I'm being pro-SW with evenly distributed developments.

I agree with depopulating Lagos and spreading developments across the SW. I don't think doing so under Nigeria will be as effective as an Odua government managing these development.

Ogun state is becoming another Lagos, yet we're struggling with getting FG's help.

Nigeria: Three U.S. Based Nigerian Doctors Separate Conjoined Twins in Houston

NIGERIANS abroad have again lifted the image of the country as three US-based Nigerian medical doctors are counted among a medical team that accomplished the unusual feat of successfully separating conjoined twins in what is now making the waves in the US media and the medical world globally.

The 26-hour long historic surgical separation of 10 months old conjoined twins in a Houston, Texas hospital was recently conducted by a medical team that included among others, two Nigerian female doctors and one male doctor, Professor Oluyinka Olutoye, one of the top surgeons in the team.

The conjoined twins, Knatalye Hope and Adeline Faith Mata were successfully separated on February 17 and 18.

Speaking exclusively with The Guardian over the weekend, Olutoye, the Texas Children Hospital's pediatric surgeon said there were 12 surgeons, 4 anesthesiologists and 8 nurses in the team that operated on the female twin babies.

One of the anesthesiologists is Olutoye's wife, Dr. Toyin Olutoye. The third Nigerian doctor among the team which is now drawing applause and praise in the US and beyond is Dr. Mrs. Oluyemisi Fowode-Adeyemi, a pediatric gynecology fellow in the hospital.

The Nigerian community is now sharing in the praise and recognition that this medical feat has brought as all the medical practitioners involved are now being celebrated in the US media and society. Most of the major American TV stations and top newspapers have reported on the feat which took place over a week ago.

Reacting to the news, the Christian Association of Nigerian-Americans, CANAN which represents about 1000 Nigerian churches in the US said 'the active inclusion of three distinguished Nigerian doctors in the history-making conjoined twins separation in Houston is another showcase of how outstanding Nigerians are impacting the American community positively, and we are very proud of all three of them, as we congratulate all the leading and supporting medical personnel involved in the arduous surgery."

Olutoye who is one of the top surgeons in the historic separation is also the Co-Director of the Texas Children's Fetal Center and Co-Program Director of Perinatal Surgery Fellowship Program of the well-known Baylor College of Medicine. He came to the U.S. in 1989 to pursue his post-doctoral studies before deciding to stay back.

Local US media quoted the leader of the medical team, Dr Darrell Cass, pediatric surgeon and co-director of Texas Children's Fetal Center as saying: "This surgery was not without its challenges with the girls sharing several organs systems". While the surgery lasted, the Nigerian doctors and their colleagues worked on Knatalye for about 23 hours and Adeline for 26, but Olutoye said they took breaks at different intervals.

Explaining further, Olutoye, who graduated from Kings College, Lagos and then University of Ife as a doctor, disclosed that the twins were actually 10 month-old and had to be previously delivered as premature babies. He said in anticipation of the separation surgery, tissue expanders were used to help prepare their skins.

According to him, "it is a blessing to be able to be part of a team that can help improve the lives of this two children. Now they have the potential to live a happy normal life." The Nigerian surgeon said he was glad that Nigerians are being recognized in the US for such successes like this one.

He explained that the Siamese Twins who were born April 2014 to Elysse Mata, and her husband, John, were conjoined at the chest almost face-to-face, linked at the abdomen and sharing a common liver.

The twins had 4 kidneys going into two bladders, Olutoye disclosed adding that they also shared major organs like diaphragm, pelvis, lungs intestines and lining of the heart. But he noted that graciously the twins had separate hearts.

According to the US-based Nigerian surgeon, in many cases of such conjoined twins, separating them could be technically impossible, depending on where and how they are joined. Although conjoined twins rarely occur may be 1 in 100,000 to 500,000 case, Olutoye said.

The twins are now recovering, Olutoye said, adding that their full recovery is anticipated even if that takes a little while. Reports said the hospital has not set a release date for the children since Feb 18 when the surgery was completed.

Nigeria: Ambode Urges FG, States to Diversify Into Agriculture

6 NOVEMBER 2015

Apparently worried by the slump in global oil market for over a year, which has diminished national earnings, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday urged the Federal Government and states to begin to pay serious attention to agric-economy as alternative source of revenue and self-sustainability.

Ambode, who spoke at the 4th European Union-Nigeria Business Forum 2015 in Lagos yesterday, said that the current economic hardship made it imperative for all to look inwards for creative ways of growing the economy of the country and boost gross domestic product.

He said that the agricultural sector serves as a ready alternative source of revenue generation not only to the government but also to individuals and private organisations through the various agro-allied value chains.

The governor commended the organisers for the theme of this year's forum, "Unlocking Opportunities for Diversification", saying it was apt as it would afford participants focus on addressing the obstacles to the effective development of the agricultural value chain.

He noted that the EU's relationship with Nigeria was significant, not only because Europe remains the top destination for Nigeria's oil and non-oil exports, but also because the region accounts for nearly one-third of Nigeria's total trade.

Nigeria: Agriculture, Viable Sector to Boost Revenue Generation - Ambode

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday said the agribusiness sector remains one of the most viable areas that the Federal as well as State Governments must begin to pay serious attention to boost its revenue generation in the wake of dwindling oil prices.

Governor Ambode who spoke at the 4th European Union-Nigeria Business Forum 2015 holding at the Eko Hotels and Suites said the harsh times in the oil sector and its attendant impact on government revenue makes it imperative to look inward for creative ways of growing the economy of the country and boosting gross domestic product.

To this end, he said the agricultural sector serves as a ready alternative source of revenue generation not only to Government but also to individuals and private organizations through the various Agro allied value chains.

He commended the organisers for the theme of this year's forum, "Unlocking Opportunities for Diversification", saying it was apt as it would afford participants focus on addressing the obstacles to the effective development of the agricultural value chain.

"The EU's relationship with Nigeria is significant not only because Europe remains the top destination for Nigeria's oil and non-oil exports, but also because the region accounts for nearly one-third of Nigeria's total trade. The statistics speak for themselves", he said.

Governor Ambode said the state government on its part, recognizes the importance of the Agricultural sector in wealth and job creation as well as in growing the economy of the State and has thus made the sector one of its cardinal programmes.

He assured that the his administration will continue to build on the policies put in place by the previous administration to enhance rapid development in the sector, adding that so far, the government has energized the Agriculture Land Holding Authority (ALHA), to make more land readily available for Agricultural development.

Governor Ambode also urged prospective investors to take advantage of the wetland environment as well as a 1,500 hectares reserve of tropical hard woods to invest in water hyacinth recycling, fisheries and fish farm estate, arable crop estates, rice processing mill, livestock resources, forestry, agricultural equipment and human capacity development in Agriculture.

He however said that for the sector to achieve its full potentials, the task could not be left to the government alone, stressing that it would require private sector capital, entrepreneurial approach, innovativeness and managerial efficiency as well as the critical role of international partners and investors into the sector.

"Furthermore, in recognition of the need to create an enabling environment and enhance the ease of doing business in Lagos State we have established the Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment (also called Lagos Global) directly under my office.

"Lagos Global is a one-stop shop designed to ensure that whatever information, assistance, conditions, etc may be required by investors from the state government towards facilitating their investment in the State are provided swiftly and expeditiously, and in an environment devoid of bureaucratic bottlenecks", he said.

Governor Ambode also said that efforts have been intensified towards the completion of the 27-km Blue Line Light Rail Transit System, from Okokomaiko to Marina, expressing optimism on completion, it would foster greater economic and social integration within West Africa sub region.

He said his administration is also paying serious attention to the security and judicial sectors that would ensure the safety of investors and their investments as well as swift response to business related disputes.

Toyin Ojih Odutola is a contemporary artist who focuses on identity and the sociopolitical concept of skin color through her pen and ink drawings. Her work explores her personal journey of having been born in Nigeria then moving and assimilating into American culture in conservative Alabama. "I’m doing black on black on black, trying to make it as layered as possible in the deepness of the blackness to bring it out. I noticed the pen became this incredible tool. The black ballpoint [pen] ink on blackboard would become copper tone and I was like 'wow, this isn’t even black at all!' The black board was like this balancing platform for the ink to become something else. I instantly recognized this notion, of how we think something is a certain way and in reality it is something else…” Ojih Odutola said in an August 2013 interview about the show, My Country Has No Name in the International Review of African American Art.

When asked why the majority of her figures are black in a recent interview with the Village Voice, Ojih Odutola responded, “Of course they’re black figures because they’re drawn in black pen, but not all of the figures are of African American descent, or at least the reference isn’t. One of the things I like to play with is, “What is black?” Is it because I drew it? Is it because it looks black? Is it because you think the figure is black? Because a lot of it is just a filter, and the filters get more and more obstructed by whatever people think the image is about and not really what it is.”

Ojih Odutola has participated in several group shows including Ballpoint Pen Drawing Since 1950, Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (2013), Fore, Studio Museum in Harlem (2012), The Moment for Ink, Chinese Cultural Center, San Francisco (2013), and The Progress of Love, Menil Collection, Houston (2012). A recent graduate of the California College of Arts MFA program (2012), Ojih Odutula’s work is already in major museum collections including the Birmingham Museum of Art, AL and The National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.

Jack Shainman Gallery started representing Ojih Odutola in 2011. Solo exhibitions with the gallery include Toyin Ojih Odutola: MAPS (2011), and My Country Has No Name (2013). Her next solo exhibition at Jack Shainman Gallery titled Of Context and Without will open on December 11, 2015.

Thank you for this response and I abosuletly agree with the bolded.

You mentioned a rating system, what do you have in mind?

All projects must have:

DEFINITION that identify "What" it is, "Why" it is needed, "Where" it is located, "How" it will be funded, "When" it will start and complete, "Who" the proprietary owners, the stakeholders, the builders, the managers are.

MEASURES record entries and formulas that set compliance criterias that will be reviewed to gauge progress and obstacles and how to score them.

INSPECTION physical review and quality audits to score progress and identify challenges that may impede project timeline, budget and manpower staffing.

REPORTING published information that is available to.the public so we know if project is behind, on time or will be completed ahead of goals, and if any issues exist that are deviations from the goals and the recommendations to reconcile and return those areas ofdeviation to compliance.

TOWN HALL FEEDBACK a periodic agenda and communication setting.for two way interaction between Executives and grassroot commmunities.

Each level of Government should have a template similar to these. This should form their.competency metrics. They will be scored on a scale of 1 to 5 on how projects and policies under their watch is benefitting public and citizens.

The total scores are tallied quarterly and then rated on a competency levels of

Does.not Meet
Meet
Exceed
Far Exceed

In the election year, an Executive or Public Administrator can then be assessed as

Not Qualified or Qualified, depending on where they are on cumulative performance.

The secret of anambra's SSCE success is well known to all --- millions of examination miracle centres, just like the millions of baby factories.

Nothing more, nothing less. I just laugh when people point at SSCE results as development

nah i aint trolling you fam. i am ijebu for real for real. you know i am trying to get interested in the nba but my passion for it is dying a slow death. like i was the BIGGEST nba fan during the days of rasheed wallace, ben wallace, chauncey billups and rip hamilton in detroit. thats when my passion for the game was at its maximum. also when jordan was kicking ass in chicago, i was in chicago during the last 2 years of his career when he returned from playing baseball. plus hakeem the dream was the business. but lately i have lost interest cuz the referees ruin the game now. like you cant even breath on a nigga without the referees calling foul. every little thing is foul and the foul calls are biased. so yeah i am slowly checking out of the NBA. which leaves me with nothing cuz i dont like soccer that much. so i guess am just going to be one of these dudes who dont like sports lol

I wish for that more than anything...

But i know it's wishful thinking cos the colonial masters are making a killing from the marriage of unholy bedfellows & will "resist" a "divorce"....
I am pretty optimistic that if we Yorubas agitate for the break up of Nigeria,in no time would it fall like a pack of cards....
I earnestly desire that moment.Nigeria had really held us down.We need to break this unholy marriage....
