Due to some folks not understanding what Taraba Governorship Election Tribunal meant, here it is in a simple term:

Explaining Invalid Votes
In any given Election, any voter that thumbprints erroneously, inappropriately or for parties that did not file in candidates for the election - all such votes are regarded Invalid Votes.

PDP Got Invalid Votes In Taraba
In the eyes of the Law, PDP had no Candidate in that election - Why? Because the process they used in selecting a candidate to represent the party was flaw. As Jonathan and his crew tried so hard to use the PDP Governorship Tickets in attracting favours, loyalty and support across Nigeria, in order to execute that of Taraba, the PDP primaries was moved to Abuja to ensure the pre-determined outcome came to pass. And this contravenes the law.

The Result:
So what that mean is that all the voters that thumbprint for PDP on the ballot paper in the Governorship election were just wasting their time and energy. By law, their votes were Invalid Votes (or put it this way - Wasted Votes).

So anyone that wants to hijack the electoral process in future can think twice. Kudos Mama Taraba for having a great legal team that saw this loophole.

God bless Nigeria.

Your assertion is flawed and does not hold water. It is the right of a party to present a candidate for any given election, any objection to the process of the primaries should be challenged in court. The Taraba tribunal judgement cannot stand and shall be upturned.

In the case of national assembly elections, does the victory belong to the candidate or the party?

Ishaku remains the governor as long as appeal is lodged within 21 days and will remain so until appeal is exhausted. This is judicial rascally of the highest order.

APC is taking Nigeria back to pre GEJ era where the govt in power influenced election tribunals.

Same way Rivers state election tribunal refused to throw out Dakuku's petition even though he was not validly nominated by APC as his nomination contravened section 85 (1) of the Electoral Act.

It will be a Victory for the Party, the Candidate and all those who voted for him.

And as you already know, if the Candidate decamps to another party, the victory is now for him, his supporters and his new party.

People give Bribe in Nigeria even when they are right because they are impatient.

My take is that the legal process will take it course, when the chips are down, it is Mama Taraba all the Way! PDP cannot re-write the history of how they chose their candidate. I will not be surprised is aggrieved PDP members gave her details of this loophole.

Like in Terminator, killing Serah Conner will mean the Commander will not exist in future. Now exposing the illegality that brought in the PDP candidate means no need to waste time counting the votes or seeking a Re-Run grin grin grin grin grin

Let's assume the process of the PDP primaries was flawed, did Aisha ask the tribunal to disqualify Ishaku based on that reason? Did she present the validity of the PDP candidate as reason for her yo be declared winner on initiating the action?

This explanation, if that is what we should properly call it, would mean that the choice of the MAJORITY of Tarabans were NOT taken into account over the crucial matter of who will rule over them in a DEMOCRACY!!! How can anyone justify declaring the votes of majority of voters in an election as "invalid" based on some technicality on the part of one the actors in the said election. What then is the real meaning of DISENFRANCHISEMENT?

And over what really? That one of the parties held its primaries in Abuja instead of Jalingo when ironically the same tribunal that gave judgement also had it's own sitting in that same Abuja instead of Jalingo!!

This doesn't look fair at all. But then again this is about the law and facts, and we all wud hopefully have to wait for the Lawyers and experts to argue all these all the way to the Supreme Court. Our jurisprudence would be the better for it I would guess.

What do you think her Lawyers were doing? Listen by holding the primaries in Abuja instead of Jalingo means it is illegal. No it does not matter who emerged 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in that Primary.

If it held in Jalingo and the winner was not the candidate filled, we would have had an Amaechi 2.0 in our hands. But the issue here is that a Primary that should hold in Jalingo was hijacked to Abuja. So no matter who had emerged, the person would still be disqualified.

How PDP Sold Taraba State Governorship Primary To TY Danjuma In Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday moved the governorship primary for Taraba State to Abuja to enable the fraudulent installation of a candidate favored by billionaire and former army general, Theophilus Danjuma.

The convention to elect a gubernatorial candidate was to have taken place earlier this week but the National Working Committee of the PDP refused to send representatives to conduct the election because they feared that a majority of the 720 delegates slated for the convention were loyal to the former Acting Governor, Umar Garba.

The rest were looking to cast their vote for another contestant, David Sabo Kente, the elder brother of a former speaker of the Taraba State Assembly.
The party reportedly sold the governorship slot to General Danjuma, who selected Samuel Ortom-Darius Isiaku, a former Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs to get the ticket. Isiaku however had no single delegate that was willing to vote for him.

Upon learning of the disastrous outing that awaited the former Minister in Jalingo, the PDP called for a “Special Delegates Convention” to be held at its Wadata headquarters in Abuja. It expanded the convention to accommodate sundry political office holders as “special delegates” in order to rig the outcome in Mr. Isiaku’s favor.

Sensing the plot, Alhaji Umar hired three jets to take delegates loyal to him to yesterday.
Upon arriving in Abuja, the legitimate delegates invaded the PDP headquarters and embarked on a serious protest, chanting anti-party slogans and denouncing Danjuma. That protest did not deter the party from announcing Mr. Isyaku as the PDP candidate for governor in Taraba state.

SaharaReporters had previously reported that Danjuma was the arrowhead of those that imposed Governor Danbaba Suntai, despite being severely incapacitated in an October 2012 air crash, upon the state. Recently they also worked to bring back the deputy governor who had earlier been fired by Suntai using their connections at the Supreme Court. Our sources stated that the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, who is from Taraba, facilitated the judicial deal that brought back the former deputy governor to Suntai to power.Disaffected member of the PDP in the state told Saharareporters that they are left with no option that to decamp encase to the All Progressive Congress party so as to hand the PDP the defeat they deserve during the upcoming general elections in February 2015.

Does it mean that if "majority" of Tarabans cast their votes for UDP that did not file a candidate, the Tribunal will give it to UDP because "majority" thumbprinted for them?

You are taken to the cleaners daily on every side of the divide you support. Why not give yourself a break n stop being a nuisance. Any one with a functional brain understand the election is so close in Taraba even with PDP pulling all its rigging machinery to good use.

The PDP does not have that edge anymore, at least your brain should decipher another election under a Buhari your like claims he's a bigot, appointed his relative as INEC chairperson would be too close to call. Yet you gave victory to PDP without blinking an eyelid.

Do you just come on NL to tell your fantasy or desire ? Why can't you be reasonable with your submissions ? PDP might win in a rerun which I doubt but trust me it would never be a home run. The odds is well stacked against them on this one. Taraba going APC is surer than Akwa Ibom or Rivers doing that.

I'm a supporter of Mama Taraba but I think PDP may win this appeal o. It is the political parties that are voted for not the candidate. The case of Ameachi vs Omehia can be used as an example. Omehia won the election on the platform of PDP but Ameachi later reclaimed his victory because omehia wasn't the right PDP flagbearer. Why was the party with the second highest number of vote not sworn in?
