abi cheap cheap contractors fast fast promblems
I don't think it was a problem of cheap contractors. It is rather a problem of lack of vision. That bridge was built over 40years ago. It was not envisaged that it would support so much traffic not to mention such heavy duty vehicles. It was meant to provide basic access to rural communities via motorcycles, cars and light trucks and buses.
If only d builders have vision..........

hello..............are u ok? Did u read d post? A bridge built shortly after the. Civil war, over 40yrs ago. Normal wear and tear is enough to destroy the bridge. How can u even mention the contractor here? The man is probable long retired and even dead.

They have been doing it for long only this time the bridge finally gave in. Dagote would build a new one, It would greatly aid his business. Imagine 900 bags coming in every day? That's like a million naira worth of cements.
In fact Dangote should use those cement falling into the water to start constructing a new bridge sharp sharp

the problem about south east is our governors, they are just shallow minded nd selfish, everyone of them waiting for the Federal Govt.

Such a commercial bridge nd the state governments cant come together nd fix it, i proudly support Biafra but we have got a long way to go in the East..

A man who is marginalised goes the extra mile to make sure his future is bright, provides what he needs to stand out but the South East governors re just Cretins...

You're so right, instead of killing themselves with biafra agitation the youths should hold the governors accountable

Most of the infrastructure we enjoy in this country today where done during the military Era. Check the bridges, the road networks, dams, refineries all where constructed under military rule and politicians will have us believe that the military did more harm than good.....what is most disheartening is the level of mediocrity among the populace and politicians are seriously cashing in on it. That's why they share bags of rice, garri etc with their faces on it, we hail them. They construct a 5km road that won't even last 6 months before pot holes start springing up and you'll see heavy road launching ceremony with women wearing political "Aso Ebi" dancing under the sun and they go home with the 5k thank you for coming envelope at d end of the day for songs rendered in honour of thieving politicians. Wonder what the way forward is for my dear country....
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't know who else you think would be responsible for building our infrastructure when soldiers took over 6 years after independence and basically had control till 1998. Even right now, they simply shed their uniforms and wore Agbada to join politicians. So who are the leading thieves we have in politics right now? Were they not soldiers? Even Alams is retired military. Do your check yourself and see how these military rogues transformed into looting politicians.

FYI, Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory used the Western Region's Cocoa money to drive rapid infrastructural development. Many of the buildings and establishments still stand today.

Here we go again, for the past 16 yrs of democracy rule, who were the governors, the ministers, senators, local government chairmen etc Military men? Yes but few, infact very few compared to the overflowing agbada donning, pot bellied flaunting civilians who made up a very large percentage of the men who have controlled the affairs of this country for the past 16 yrs of democratic rule. The last administration headed by a civilian had the opportunity of turning the reproach of this country to a thing of the past and make this country a glittering diamond emerged from the harsh and unfriendly process of refining, there was oil price boom in the world, other oil producing countries stepped up dia game, made life better for their people. What did our big round hat wearing government do......er....nothing....except if u want to consider the looting, stashing and carting away of money meant to make lives better for the populace, provide help to those in need of it and give this country it so desperately longs and thirsts for.....how many years does it take to build the complex bridges of apapa, the seemingly unending third mainland bridge in Lagos, the breathtaking national art theatre in surulere and the list is endless. how many of these were built under military rule and how many a structure to be compared to the aforementioned were built by civi administeration.....lemme see...2nd Niger bridge, if u will consider a proposal as something substantial. ponder on these my friend and I will be here waiting for ur reply...I love Nigeria!

The collapse of the Ikem bridge, which is at Ebonyi River in Isi-Uzo local government area of Enugu state, has caused untold hardship for commuters in communities within Enugu, Benue and Ebonyi states, with some people having to actually swim in order to get to their destinations.
The hanging bridge, built by the Nigeria army shortly after the civil war, finally caved in when a Dangote truck carrying 900 bags of cement tried to pass through...

Many communities in Enugu, Ebonyi, Benue have been cut off & Commuters traveling from Ehamufu to Enugu now terminate their journeys at different ends of the river and swim across to continue their journey.

That is the main reason I pity all those ignorants chanting Biafra up and down because they don't really know where their problems lies. The state of Biafra can never change living conditions of average man in the East. The rich and the well connected will still be living in opulence while the poor will still toil from dawn to dusk with little or nothing to show for it. The people you are complaining that they are marginalizing you are not better off. Their Rich and well connected are still the same thing with your rich. Their poor is even worse off. Why waste your time chanting dead Biafra up and down instead of you find a way to carve out your own life on the existing status quo.

They should use the cement that was used to damage the bridge and repair it or build a new one.
All they need is to buy some iron rods and pay for labor

Your epistle doesn't change the fact that military men have taken over politics; even the so called "last administration headed by civilian", the president was hand picked by OBJ. You can paint the military white all you want, facts remain facts.
