What are you advertising? Are you selling the farm?

No the farm is for lease. The rent is negotiable.

Malaysian company sent me this brochure: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dsmv5evzkvjbdi6/Palm%20Oil.pdf

Contact wants 30K USD for the software and the source code. YEAH. RIGHT. I'm telling him I don't need the source code, just the software, waiting to see what they say. The damn thing is in mangled English sef...

So why is it so difficult to find business software for tropical agriculture? I suspect I know the reason. You see this world? Whatever. I am GOING to find one.

Are there no crack version? Since it's not a popular software getting a crack might be difficult. I see HarvesrIT is installed on a Windows server 2003 OS.
Look more like a business software, more like SAP a little more specific to palm plantation.
Kindly update on negotiations!

He dropped the price to 10K USD, still wants me to purchase source code, I said forget it (politely, of course smiley ) Obviously he's pulling these numbers out of his behind.

Now talking to Indian IT company. (HarvestIt, the software my dad originally wanted.)

Lol I just noticed this! embarassed Sorry!

You're right, because it's such a tiny market, there are no crack versions anywhere. It is just like SAP, like you said, specifically for palm plantations. I plan on evaluating more general (free) business software as well.

Starting with Odoo (https://www.odoo.com), formerly OpenERP, free version limited to two users.

Smh the contact asked me if I need a finder's fee added to the cost. The man is familiar with business in Nigeria. undecided (Well, he said he spent 10 years in Kaduna and schooled in Funtua)

My father is completing this questionnaire. I'm wondering if they will customize the software, or set it up for us?

Questions:

Estate Crop Area No of Divisions Total Permanent workers Total Casual Workers Mill Yes/No Distance to nearest centralized Location Distance to corporate office

What is the Organizational structure of the Company?

Existence of Group or Central Store/Estate Store/Division Sub Store?

Existing purchase procedures followed by the Company?

Any crop purchased from small growers and any inputs given to them at cost?

Accounts consolidation - done at the Corporate or is there an intermediate group level?

Is there a Nursery or are plants purchased from outside?

Any estate or centralized workshop?

Any Hospital?

Any subsidiary department such as Logging or Engineering that needs to be covered?

Currently, how does the information flow from estate to Corporate or Group office? Is the electronic connectivity consistent/dependable?

Current hardware configuration/ IT infrastructure if any?

Any software currently running at estates and corporate?

Does the Company have an IT Department or Systems Administrator?

Is there any Refinery?

Products handled by Mill?

Hi everyone, I have been a keen follower of all your inputs and contributions so far on this thread and I most say it has been truly awesome! I do sincerely believe agriculture is a huge and profitable venture especially in a case where white collar jobs are increasingly difficult to get. Hence, would like to start off buying and selling so I could learn the ropes with the view of setting up a palm oil production company in future. However, my dilemma is where and who to buy from and sell to and start off costs involved...please, any ideas? Thanks!

How many smart agropreneur or intending farmers will sieze this opportunity. All glory to God, as we have gone past the level of people doubting our credibility on nairaland. Nairalanders like stanchucks, kerriman, 1978fusi, doctorisa, lesgupnigeria, nairaanddollar and host of others that we don't know their usernames have all patronised us. These people and others from olx with other places have taken immediate possession of their land without any issue. So gone are the days of "is it genuine?".
You too can join the club of proud farmland owners with just 30% down payment and spread the rest over 12 months.
We have land suitable for most crops like, cassava, oil palm, maize, plantain, cashew etc.
Minimum sale is 10 acres.
Price is from 80k per acre
This offer is powered by Hastom Global Services Limited with RC no. 864168. Pay 30% and start immediate use of the land.
