After years of prospecting for oil in the Chad Basin, Nigeria is “inching closer” to a breakthrough, according to Ibe Kachikwu. The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said the country may well be on the verge of a significant oil find in the Lake Chad area in the north-east based on analysis of recent seismic 3D data generated from the basin. https://www.thecable.ng/kachikwu-nigeria-closer-oil-find-chad-basin 4 Likes 1 Share |

There is no exploration going on anywhere in Nigeria for now. Are they using satellite for the exploration? 19 Likes |

There is Oil all over Nigeria - its just a matter of time. Calling some region parasite, is just mere insecurity. No one is better than anyone. No region is more blessed. We just need to stop seeing ourselves as IPOB or ODUA or Arewa and the sky is our limit. 82 Likes 5 Shares |

Yes that's true. I heard that the geographical climate and soil texture in chad basin is good for growing palm tree. Kudos Mr Kachukwu. Lolzz #Backtothetopic. Oil in Basin? Wtf!! I now believe that God really wants to divide Nigeria. Well this would be a much balance to our system and reduce over dependence on southern oil but I know that some midgets won't be happy about this news 7 Likes 3 Shares |

This remains an exercise in futility, surely there is likely to be oil in the Chad Basin as is typical of most sedimentary basins but it is very unlikely to be a commercial find more so in this current low oil price regime. Also no major MNOC or even indigenous producer is willing to take the risk of producing from reservoirs in what is now primarily Boko Haram territory, the future of the industry is in large offshore fields like Total's Egina or Shell's Aparo, already a quarter of Nigeria's current production comes from two large offshore fields alone Agbami and Bonga. The NNPC is wasting it's time pursuing a pipe dream out of a desire to be politically correct and to assuage northern leaders. All NNPC GMDs keep promising that since time immemorial yet no commercial find till date. 29 Likes 3 Shares |

lionness:gbam! The only time nuclear weapon was put to use was when the US was the only one that have it. Now they have lost that monopoly, so the world isn't expecting nuclear attack anytime soon cos america is aware of its availability in many parts of the world. What am I saying? By the time we discover oil in all parts of Nigeria, we wont have parasites again. Agricultural produce would hold sway and then, we shall know who are the real parasites. 31 Likes |

The Chad basin has been a rich source of oil for contingent nations,so this is no surprise. But hope this wudnt be another curse because the north has been a good agricultural basket of the nation too. 11 Likes |

Kachikwu should shut the f up.. What has oil find done to Nigeria? Brought about divisiveness, kidnapping, chronic corruption in astronomical levels! Agricultural find should be of the importance at the moment! Not some curse oil shittt!! Conclusion: This is just some sort of trick to have some $$ budgeted for stomach infrastructure affair!! |

The problem is not whether there is oil but at what quantity? Another question is why is the federal government spending billions of Naira in prospecting oil? 1 Like 1 Share |
