Aareonakakanfo: Lol...eh...I not fearful of the Igbos here man.The Nigerians we have here are either in the medical field...mostly doctors and those who are working in jobs such as security, taxis, bar work, hairdressing etc.We also got some of y'all ex-militants for training in oil and gas and other vocations . I trust should them reach dt level Trini ppl go be the 1st ones to say deport them lol. One of my gf has a half igbo pikin...d guy from Anambra. The funny thing though...is naija always rating up Igbo ppl industriousness and business skills but we no dey feel their bizness presence here in Trini besides hairdressing.I thought that would have been at least one black group dt can compete with other races , Ah well... |

quimicababes: Hmmmn interesting! As per the emboldened part, I've nnever for once rated them.I don't see petty trading as an evidence of one being industrious.petty trading is a no-brainer,I can do it .I grew up with these folks and I know them more than they know themselves.Their problem is psychological hence their delusional disorder They don't own ch!t in Lagos.forget all those their we own bla blah. They can sell it to ignorant Yorubas but not me.I'm a specialist in bursting their lies Their presence is only felt at the market. The industrious bullch!t is being uttered by some ignorant Yorubas as well who only live by "hearsay" Its one of those lies that have become accepted as the truth |

Aareonakakanfo: Ah well...the thing disappointing.Black ppl are at the bottom relative to other races so when u hear about this black group calling themselves jews and screaming out about their business acumen...me personally I welcome it.Jah know we need more black entrepreneurs so I was really expecting to feel their bizness presence in Trini ,especially relative to the other black groups dt come here and dt are here.Like my friend ex-husband who is from Anambra...not once he volunteered to start his bizness or anything despite being here donkey years...him just okay doing bar work which can barely pay his living expenses.I guess I just really expected to feel Igbo presence in business since them get rate up in naija nah. |

quimicababes: Ibos self promoted and marketed themselves as entrepreneuring and industrious soon after they flooded Lagos, not respecting that most enterprising and industrious city in Nigeria is Lagos and that all the industrial parks in Lagos are all in the sector politically belonging to the old Western Region and all owned or operated by Yorubas. The natural attitude of Yoruba when confronted, even on aspects of socio economic landscape where he holds control, is to yield! We have zero consciousness on assertions and attack mode of relating with othrrs. We yield...always...and when pushed to corner we still dont know how to attack, our fight for survival is always on the defense mode. The super industrious and hyper entrepreneurs of Lagos markets did not speak up and corrected Ibo's assertions.....and so Ibos took advantage and displaced Yoruba and then claimed industry and enterprise as an Ibo comparative advantage. There is zero evidence in their own homeland to prove the assertion that they are giants of industry or that they are entrepreneurs. Just as you stated that you do not see the claim match to reality in Trini. In fact, if I may add....Yorubas not only yiellded the ground to Ibo....we also started hailing their claim and telling everyone through our media about how Ibo is a genius in industry and enterprise. 1 Like |

quimicababes: Looool maybe because there are not too many Yoruba folks there. We outshine them in business wherever we find ourselves, they don't have anyone in the class of Kase Lukman Lawal or Robert Agbede. To them, being industrious is you owning 2x2 shops. Yeah I wanted to ask you this I know Trini is blessed with huge bitumen deposits. How do they manage it considering the damage it could cause on the environment and what do you think Ondo state government need to do to to gain from its excessive bitumen deposits? How valuable is bitumen itself? 1 Like |

Aareonakakanfo: Don't get me wrong...trini blacks and other blacks from the Caribbean do go into business here but relative to Asians...Indians and Chinese...we can't compete as its not a part of our culture.I thought Igbo culture dey rate up being a business person like how the Indians and Chinese own do...so I really expected to feel their presence and expected them to be able to compete with the Asians.I guess I expected too much .No mind a couple are doctors here it doesn't stop them as we have several doctors here who have their various businesses on the side. The one or two Yorubas I met are in academia...UWI.We use our bitumen for road paving here. They also developed other products from it such as sealant and black paint. The site is also a tourist spot as you see the asphalt oozing out from the ground...remember visiting the place whilst in secondary school on a field trip .The Pitch Lake is managed by a state company called Lake Asphalt,so you can check out their website@ http://www.trinidadlakeasphalt.com/home/.The company is export oriented so yea Ondo can develop products similar to them and export. Perhaps Ondo can seek Trinidad's assistance to see if it can be developed...we were going to assist Ghana develop her gas industry until our government changed in 2010.I know right now our present Prime Minister is seeking to renew those connections...so if Ondo is serious...right now is a good time. In terms of the value of the asphalt..eh I can't say....why I say so is cuz for Trini...we have placed more emphasis on the oil and gas industry and the various downstream industries such as methanol ,ammonia and urea production etc.So Lake Asphalt doesn't contribute much to our revenue stream. The last I heard though was the previous government dt exited September of this year tried to sell off the pitch lake to the Chinese. The Chinese wanted to use the asphalt for producing waterproof construction materials for their domestic market. Our new Energy Minister hasn't articulated as yet her plans on the energy sector far less for lake asphalt....so if anything pops up on dt...i'll mention u lol |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Nobody: 3:17am On Nov 10, 2015 |
@kakanfo Btw the bulk of bitumen use is really for road paving...so perhaps Ondo should use their bitumen for paving Naija roads.I know they also crack bitumen ( which is really from the oil in the refinery and not raw bitumen) to get lighter components from it in terms of petroleum products but dt shit is energy intensive...not feasible for Naija as she done have serious energy problems. |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Nobody: 3:53am On Nov 10, 2015 |
@Quimicababes I've always thought of that as well.I think the hectic aspect of refining bitumen is trying to extract crude oil from it. Well..we don't really need to do that since we already have pure crude oil deposits. There was a time when Ondo state was trying to partner with Trini but nothing came out from it just the usual all talk no action we're used to. http://newsnigeria.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=7582 I think extracting the asphalt is relatively easy. Look at this http://dawncommission.org/news/oau-don-turns-bitumen-into-asphalt-for-road-repair/ And I keep asking myself, why can't the Ondo state Governor work with people like this. Before I forget, the man is an APC chieftain and Ondo state is controlled by PDP This is just one of the numerous challenges facing us in Yorubaland.Partisan politics 1 Like |

BudgIT did a compilation on the various states sustainability index in terms of fiscal management. The SW states did really bad....Osun was ranked second to last...just barely beating Plateau State.Katsina and Anambra had a really good profile..especially Katsina.Y'all can read the detailed report at the below link: http://www.yourbudgit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/THE-FATE-OF-STATES-Final.pdf

Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Nobody: 4:14am On Nov 10, 2015 |
Aareonakakanfo: Nice.Lake asphalt don't use the bitumen for only road paving though and they have been refining it for about 100 yrs...so it won't hurt for Ondo to partner with Trini especially as we export most of the product so it would give Naija some foreign dollars once they can tap into a market.Personally...it seems like many times African leaders don't do partnership well...Naija supposed to be done refining her oil and supplying her domestic market...if little Trini can do it...what is preventing Naija from doing such...ah well.Naija should also go more into the downstream industry especially with the fall in oil prices....make them use the crude fractions and methane as feedstocks for the production of other industrial chemicals etc. |

quimicababes: Ooh I actually have the site in my bookmarks folder but I hardly open it.They were the ones who exposed Fashola's 78 million website Its owned by Oluseun Onigbinde.Omo kaaro Ojire .Nice website. This will surely come in handy in an Independent Yoruba nation in case of any potential thieves 1 Like |

quimi, Very good information on the stats and ranking of states. Aare, This is what im talking about. The producers at budgit should break down at regional or zonal level and we can use the Western data to put fire on our executives, not necessarily to compete with other regions....but to moreso to deliver for the people and our land. 2 Likes |

Osun governor tho...how can you do a budget for 2015 at 201 billion dollars but ur revenues are just barely 60 billion dollars...dts madness Sadly only Lagos got a pass...meaning all of the other sw states don't have enuff revenues for their expenditures. Those governors aren't being fiscally sound at all.... |

Aareonakakanfo: Lol I wore it na. I think we need a lot of rebranding to do in Nigeria.......from education reform to school uniforms. Every nation keeps evolving, yet Nigeria is stuck in its own colonial days. Even our lawyers/judges still wear those nasty white wigs. Is the black man programmed to be archaic? |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Nobody: 5:12am On Nov 10, 2015 |
An interesting part of the report was Ogun's low owner's occupied houses which was less than 40% with a little over 30% residing in rentals relative to some other states like Gombe which has about 83% owner occupied homes. |

IlekeHD: I'm ttired mehn.I even hate the colors more.Dirty students love uniforms like that If I hear say Mulero wash him brown uniform There's some improvement in the uniforms worn in Lagos schools tho |

Aareonakakanfo: In your days, did you guys even have uniforms? Of course, Lagos tries to flow with "megacity standard". Nigeria will never have the likes of Fashola again. The man was too much! |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Nobody: 5:25am On Nov 10, 2015 |
Aareonakakanfo: Lagos has 60% of its population residing in rentals...so basically only 40% own their own homes ....would be interesting to see the stats for the other sw states. |
