Months after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba has declared his readiness to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ndoma-Egba announced this on Monday, November 9, in in Calabar, the Cross River state capital when he visited the state secretariat of the APC, This Day reports.

Accompanied by his supporters and top politicians in the state, including some former PDP members, the former Senate leader said he wanted to contribute his quota to building the party and a strong democratic culture in the state.

He said: “I am here today not to say I have joined or I have not joined the party, but I am here to reciprocate the various courtesy calls that have been paid to me by the party.

“So let me make one in return. I am here also to further consultations that have been going on in the course of the several visits.
“As we continue consultations with you I want to assure you that we are aware that the party has a constitution and we must be bound by it. We want to come to the party with values of integrity, fair competition and a level playing ground.

“Fortunately PDP has given a template of what should not be done, that impunity is not sustainable. They have had to pay a high price for impunity. Whether they have learnt lessons from their impunity is what I don’t know.”

According to him, the era when Cross River state was easily referred to as a one party state was no longer tenable.

“We want to come and join when you offer the people of the state a choice that one party state is no longer tenable. Our desire is to be able to give the people of the state a choice because politics is about choices and we can no longer continue with this mantra of one party state.”

Ndoma-Egba was received by the acting state chairman of the APC, John Ochala.

Ochala assured the former Senate leader and his supporters that the state secretariat will work with other authorities of the party to receive them formally into the party in no distant future, adding that they will be given equal opportunities as members of the party.

The former Senate leader Ndoma-Egba formally dumped the PDP on Wednesday, September 16, through a resignation letter he signed and sent to the party chairman in Akparabong ward, Ikom local government area, in central senatorial district of the state.

He cited the current policies and direction of the PDP which had become inconsistent with his philosophy and commitment to democratic principles, as his reason for leaving the party.

In reaction, the chairman of the PDP in Cross River state claimed that the former Senate leader left the party because they lost the 2015 elections.

dont knw why nigerian politicians are so shallow and foolish.
This is someone who has been in the pdp since 1999 till when he was beaten blue black by honourable owan enoh because of his selfcentred and greediness. He is the perfect defination of impunity, so dont know why he keeps speaking like a broken record.
Someone shud tap him to come to reality, he is just fooling himself.
