This is an African civet. You just ate a goldmine. Their perineal glands are highly prized for perfume extracts. According to Wikipedia, "African civets have been kept in captivity and milked for their civet which is diluted into perfumes. They can secrete three to four grams of civet per week and it can be sold for just under five hundred dollars per kilogram.[9] The WSPA says that Chanel, Cartier, and Lancôme have all admitted to using civet in their products and that laboratory tests detected the ingredient in Chanel No. 5." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_civet |

Vyolet: Where did you hear that hyena skin is poisonous ? And that isn't rightly called a civet cat as civets are not in the cat family |

neoapocalypse:OK. I visited the zoo sometime ago and saw an hyena,it was written on the description paper that it was a poisonous hyena, one of the zoo keepers also said the same thing,he didn't mention if it was edible or not though,I only concluded. I also notice other animals hardly eat hyena whenever I watch natgeowild or animal planet. |

That is not hyena |
Re: Entertained With An Hyena In The Village- See Pictures by Nobody: 3:23pm On Nov 10, 2015 |
Vyolet: Poisonous hyena That's a new one , hyenas don't secrete poison in their skin my dear and the zoo keeper is probably an illiterate. Predators usually have animals they eat , they may attack other predators or animals in their territory but they won't eat it. A lion can kill a human in its territory but it won't eat that human. I must point out that it doesn't hold true for all predators but a very large chunk won't go beyond meat they usually consume |
