What many Nigerians will find most disheartening in this new cabinet is the ceding, yet again, of the Federal Capital Ministry to an individual from the North (in fact, two individuals, with the Minister of State also coming from the North, although the Christian North). Wetin happen now? If Abuja is the symbol of our national unity, why should the North monopolise its administration? Why can it not be run by someone of Southern extraction for once? Does it not begin to send the message that in Abuja, Northerners are born to rule there?
Here is the list of those who have run the FCT in the past (note that only the pioneer head came from the South, the South-West to be specific).
