Sure the oil isn't going to be there forever. How I wish there was no oil discovered in the old East, it would have been better for us all. The Arewa-Oduanistanis wouldn't have been hell bent on one Nigeria and the British interest wouldnt have been there. However, OP the title and the first Post of this thread is condescending. There are many SS people who see the clear picture, it's a bit harsh to start questioning the wisdom of people you are trying to sell an idea to. It does not in anyway help your cause. A SS can also ask the same question of us as you are asking them. Where is the wisdom of SE when men like Rochas,Ngige, Onu, etc are eating and dinning with Arewa-Oduanistanis and are screaming one Nigeria when they should know better. Does it now mean that those men represent us? I know you have honest and good intentions, but consensus building is a tricky business Biafrans must learn to master, you try to not beg anyone while at the same time avoid sounding condescending. Just my humble and honest opinion. God bless Biafra. 6 Likes |

pazienza: Sometimes, one drives home a point by being blunt. It sounds harsh but it's part of hard talk. They can as well question the wisdom of our 'leaders'. To me, those guys don't represent us. They can question our wisdom for trying to create Biafra, that I will defend by giving them reasons. Here I will like them to defend their wisdom for opting for Nigeria when they are being gravely cheated and clearly not even a good option to start with. 1 Like |

Another important thing is to de-emphasize on oil. My dream Igbo republic is not an oil economy. The only problem Igboland has is that it has no international boundary. Even SS know that Igbos don't need oil but the issue is access to international trade without being dependent on Nigeria. |

Abagworo: The Eyo Ita Saga and the COR movement. Eyo Ita was the leader of the Eastern region government between 1951-53, before he was replaced by Azikiwe. He was an Efik, yet he was the head in the East at about the same time Obong of Calabar was the leader of the Eastern house of chiefs ahead of high ranked Igbo chiefs like the Obi of Onitsha, Eze Nri and Eze Aro. It was almost like everything was alright in the East, as long as Ndiigbo take the back seat. Often times, the fall of grace of Eyo Ita, and his replacement by Zik had been portrayed as Ndiigbo ganging up behind Zik to oust Eyo Ita by Eastern non Igbo groups, even though that was nothing but history revisionism. Eyo Ita himself helped spread this message as he became a poster boy for the COR (Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers) states movement, before he returned back to NCNC. Was Eyo Ita really ousted by Ndiigbo? Was his removal ethnically motivated to make room for Zik? Many Efiks point at his fall from Grace as evidence of Igbo dominating attitude and tribalism. It was cool and dandy when Eyo Ita reigned, but cries of Igbo domination began when an Igbo reigned. |

Obiagu1: You need to re-read Pazienza's post, understand his point of view and you would see the need to modify your stance. Consultation is the key to success and not confrontation or bullying. You are offering an option and the onus is on you to sell that option and not the reverse. Pazienza has told you something critical. If you have an idea, you have to sell the idea and not bully anyone to take your idea. I wonder if people would drink coca-cola if they are told in clear terms that they are stupid if they drank Pepsi or Dr Pepper. Also, you are not being blunt, rather you are condescending and insulting and not driving home the point which is 'Positives of joining Biafra'. You are hiding behind the theme to make unsavoury remarks about a group of people and that my brother is the definition of bigotry. A movement like this usually succeeds through outright violence and subjugation (this was tried in 1967 and has shown to be a futile path) or through consultation and strategic alliance. Which for some reason you think is weakness or not up for consideration while hoping that a repeat of the 1967 bullying and gloating tact will somehow succeed. There is also another angle that has not been explored and that is support from the NC zone. The zone has strong potentials that can be unleashed in a true federal state and can be allies in this attempt to secede. 4 Likes 1 Share |

^^^ I understood clearly what Pazienza said. Well, the thread was meant to cause anger but at the same time challenges, provokes and stimulates ones thinking. It's not in anyway condescending though you percieved it as such. I believe it's generally polite to question ones wisdom without saying he is silly. |

Obiagu1: Well, humans are emotional beings and for this reason perception can be everything, when you want to sell an idea to a people. You must delicately work on their perception to a favorable disposition to your ideas. Most times, the people perception of the ideas is even more important than the idea. So if you go about thinking because you have good ideas and the people have no option but to accept it, you might be setting yourself up for rejection, only to see the same people accept wrong ideas from another, simply because your adversary knew how to work on their perception towards a positive disposition to his ideas, which is even detrimental to the people. 3 Likes |

Obiagu1: Nigerdeltan are very intellectual if not more intellectual than the south east. The main difference between south south intellectuals and south east is what while the south east allowed their emotions to becloud their intellect, the south south always have their heads on their shoulders. No resource community in the whole world has 100% resource control, and in fact no country (except you are a super power nation) can control its mineral resources 100%. Even in the US where ownership of oil resources resides in the owners of the land, strict government regulations and heavy taxes are used by government to gain partial control of the resources resides. So your 100% resource control jargon remains in the realm of fantasy. The Nigerdelta struggle is not to appropriate 100% of the oil resources to itself ( that itself is an invitation for war - both locally, nationally and internationally. ) What happens to communities, local governments and states without oil? What we want is land control. The greatest injustice to the Nigerdeltans is the land use act, which takes away ownership of our lands and gives it to federal government ( someone in Abuja to distribute as he or she wishes). We want our lands back. On revenue sharing, we would like to revert to the 50/50 formula as was obtained before the discovery of oil. We do not mind increasing it gradually over a period of like say 10 years, to allow other regions and states enough time to develop their own resources. On a side note, one thing illiterate Biafrans are unaware of is that even if Biafra is attained and it miraculously include the oil rich Nigerdelta, the quantity of oil available would be greatly reduced. Our exclusive maritime economic zone would be greatly reduced because of the very small land mass of the fabled Biafra. Cameroon and France would benefit greatly from the reduced maritime boundary. This is one of the reasons the northern claim that a sizeable portion of our crude oil revenue is from our expanded exclusive maritime economic zone due to the huge size of the north. This was why the north asked Obasanjo to remove offshore oil from the 13% derivation, but thankfully obasanjo refused. 1 Like |

I pity any sane person who will believe that the South South will get better deal outside Nigeria as this people will take 95% from them & give them 5%; let the truth be told, we all know the region where the Oliver twist ones comes from & how they sweet talked & helped destroy Jonathan 6 years in government is still fresh in everyones mind. I don't have anything against them but since they keep coming after we the Yorubas we will also keep going for their throats because they should learn to fight their war on their own without dragging us into it. As per Niger Delta, I am one of them & I still came across my Niger Delta ID card from the old times ( higher institution days ); Igbos should know that hate don't give struggles any bite but it rather take out the arrow head of the struggle due to the fact that hate will make you have more people to contend with; ask Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Rwandan Hutus and recent world enemy called ISIS because their hatred for others have destroyed them. 1 Like |
